Has anyone who has interviewed recently, or hasn't heard from them about you interview heard from them yet? I have to wait until after 5 to check my mail today because I am on campus all day until then. I'm thinking sometime this week, but it could be next week too.
I haven't heard from them yet. I am expecting next week from what they said. Were you one of the ones being interviewed on the 28th?

no, i ended up having a different interview date.

I had an interview on the 29th. And now, I have seen the FedEx truck within a few blocks of my house today and yesterday....its definitely keeping me on my toes with anticipation.

I truly believe that this is the worst part of waiting.... you never pay any attn to fedex until you want that letter.... JUST CRUEL.l........

LOL

Hmm, any word yet? I called the office this afternoon and they said that they could not give out any information over the phone but that correspondence has been sent out.

I haven't gotten home to check the mail yet. Did they say when they sent out the correspondance?

The lady said it was sent out Tuesday (from what I remember.)

Nothing in the mail here, and I live right off of I-44, so mail travels quick from Tulsa. I heard a truck driving close to my duplex this morning. I ran to the door to check... not FedEx. 😡
Wondering on the off chance I get an acceptance if FedEx will leave the package, or if I have to skip all my classes next week to wait paranoidally :scared: (is that a word?) by the door. I have never got a FedEx shipment, but UPS is consistently a pain in the butt about this. +pissed+

I should have already had it if it was mailed Tuesday. How long does FedEx take compared to USPS, and do they deliver on weekends? 😀

From what I've heard (and I've certainly asked around) Fedex will leave a note if you aren't home to arrange for a good delivery time over the phone. I don't know if they deliver on weekends or how late into the evening they deliver. Also, I think that how many days it takes Fedex to deliver it to you depends on how much priority they put on the letter. I live in Norman, which is two hours from Tulsa, and I haven't received anything yet. So maybe tomarrow......... but now I'm not really expecting a Fedex letter, cause I would have expected to get it by now. It should be faster than snail mail right (mostly a rhetorical question)?

Yeah, I am just anxiously anticipating something, anything. Snail mail should have got to me by now and definitely to you if mailed Tuesday. Maybe there was a fire at the post office.

yeah, I looked at the post mark date on something I received from Tulsa today that was post-marked on April 6, which was Wednesday. I don't know much about how the post office works or fedex. I'm sorry, I wish I had more important stuff to think about. I hope I don't sound too obsessive about this. Do they fly all fedex packages or drive some and fly some? It's nice to know that I'm not the only one going through this.

Another day and still nothing here. I'll have to come home after every class on Monday to check the mail. 🙁

Well if they sent stuff out Tuesday then Fed Ex should have gotten to Lubbock, TX by now.

Guys, it's not gonna be as quick as you think.....don't give up if you don't get things right away......

I'm holding out hope, just would have been nice to be the one with the FedEx package and have everyone else be in wait-list limbo.

Well, that lady was right. I received my correspondence today--waitlisted. I guess it just takes some time for the mail to make it out of the building.

I hope someone on this board received some good news (meaning one of the last three spots.)

Waitlisted, got the letter today.

Here's to the the 44 spots from the waitlist! 👍

Thanks. Apparently I am competitive enough to get their attention. I'm going to count on getting an advanced degree and a better MCAT to get in for c/o 2011.

Hang in there. That isn't a bad plan at all. 👍

Officially waitlisted. Maybe I should try bribes. I'm not an OK resident, so that makes the odds even longer. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic to be accepted to WVSOM, its just a long ways away from the family.

I talked to the Assistant Dir. of Admissions a few hours ago and she said pretty much the same thing. She said if I was an in state student I would probably have been accepted, but out of state is just more competitive and I had some WF's that I have been trying to get rid of for over 10 years now. I'll be there in 2 more years, I'm excited to have even interviewed. 👍

"I feel your pain" on the waitlist.

BTW, did you apply to TTU there in your backyard?

Last year I was waitlisted here at TTU. Improved my science GPA and when applied x2 had over 1.5 years volunteer experience. Great MCAT score, but this year didn't even make the wait list despite a great interview. Go figure. Anyways, my cousin is a D.O., and I like the philosophy better, but it would have been nice to have tuition of 9k a year.

Anyways, OSU.....PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME!!!

Do you mind sharing your stats since we are both out of state?

I'm also waitlisted. Does anyone know how many are on the waitlist or any kind of info like that? I will call sometime this week to ask a few questions. Specifically, I need to know about reapplying because if I am to do that, I want to apply as early as possible and that means June. If I get off the waitlist after I have submitted to AACOMAS, then I will have spent ~$155 to reapply for nothing. Does anyone know anything about what to do about that?

My classmate didn't get accepted until a week for 2 before class. I would call them every couple of weeks to "check on your status" and when it gets around time to apply, ask them if they think you should apply, or if they think you should wait. They are sometimes pretty good at telling you what you should do.

I asked them after I interviewed if I should attend an interview at KCOM, even though OSU-COM was my first choice. They said on the phone that attending the KCOM wasn't neccessary.

I think you're talking to me?

My stats are mediocre. MCAT slightly above national average with strength in VR. 3.2 ugrad cum w/ 3.4 sci component (poor, I know but engineering is brutal). My post bacc and graduate work is a 3.8, with a gap of growing up in between. Lots of career accomplishments and leadership experiences. 1 yr at Parkland in Dallas volunteering. I think my letters are good, but only saw 2 of the 5.

I have lived in Tulsa for ~25 years, so my ties are strong. I moved to Plano 2 years ago. My graduate work was at OSU too. I wonder if they noticed or cared?

So that's my story. What about you?

That sucks that you didn't get in bud. Your stats sound more impressive than mine generally, though I did do really well on the MCAT. I got nothing. This is my second time 'round applying, so good luck next year. With stats like those you should get in next time around if you apply early.

Come talk to me when that figure is several thousand, for nada. Then I can muster up some sympathy! Just look at it this way: Doc's make $150K per year on the bottom or near bottom end. So you've spent an extra 0.1% of one years' salary upon completion of your training. Since most people work 261 days/year, your down by 0.26 days. So work an extra 3 hours somewhere down the road!

I spent $2K last year and probably $5-6K this year. If I were you, I would pay the $155 on the first day possible. That's the best way you can get Murphy's Law to lean your way. Nothing will free up the waitlist in your favor faster than making a cash donation.

I'm sorry you've spent so much on applying. I wasn't trying to get sympathy from anyone about the money I've spent to apply. I just wanted advice about reapplying while being on the waitlist. Also, it is important to objectively evaluate your application as to where you should apply when you are deciding how to invest your money in application. OSUDoc's advice was good. I'm definately going to keep it in mind as I prepare my application for next year. It would be foolish for me to submit it when they could give me an idea of where I stand, and I was in good standing. There's no way submitting it would free up the waitlist in my favor, since AACOMAS is separate from OSU in the first place. Yeah, it would be nice to actually have enough money to apply to a lot of schools (although I've decided the only school I really want to attend is OSU), but I've been a student for the past four years. Even when working a part time job during the school year for over 3.5 years, I barely had enought money to apply to med schools this year. It's not about spending the money, it's about actually having the money to spend. Working an extra three hours wouldn't really provide enough for me to reapply, if that's what it depended on. It would be more like 20-25.

Scarlet,

I think your missing my point. If you cannot produce $155 at the last possible moment for applying again, then use one of the many credit card app's that come your way and pay it off over several months. The three hour represents lost opportunity cost for the year you might sit out applying again.

In case your not familiar with Murphy's Law, there is no need for a direct connection between OSU and AACOMAS. The mere act of paying the new (and non-refundable) application fee should immediately pull you from the waitlist.

I feel your pain in spades. I'm staring down the muzzle of a $2,000 non-refundable school deposit due May 15. So alternate schools begin to get much less attractive.

Good luck to you 🙂

I just wanted to let everyone still on the waitlist that I called yesterday (5/31) and they said they will be sending out correspondence to everyone with updates about the waitlist. They said they would try to get it out by the end of this week. Anyone have any luck yet? Anyone sent a letter of intent or any update info?

I am still waiting also. Thanks for the information!

Oh, and good luck to you!

I sent a letter of intent last week. I was also thinking of having another D.O. write an extra letter of recommendation.

Johnny, I just finished biochem at OU. Man it was ridiculously hard this summer. She just wrote the class an e-mail and told us that she gave us a 20 point curve. The class average was like a 75. Anyhow, have you taken biochem yet? I imagine you have. I am a grad student at OU in music, but I am taking science classes so that I can apply to OSU. My main music prof left so I'm not going to finish my masters, I am just going to complete a few more classes this fall, take MCAT in spring and apply for 07 admit. I hope you are doing well and good luck with the upcoming semester.

Hi. I know it's really early in the process, but I have been complete at OSU for three months now (applying for 2006 matriculation) and I would like to know about when interview invites are sent out. So, hopefully I can be expecting one. Thank you, Dr. Dad, for resurrecting this thread.

When does OSU usually start sending out interview invites?
