Any word from Einstein

Hi Schoolboy:

Einstein is a private school, so tuition is the same for in-state and out-of-state. I checked the estimated budget for 2004-2005, and they quoted $35,925 for tuition. *Empty pockets* However, when I interviewed, the students said that they offered great financial aid. Haven't personally checked up on it, though. Hope this helps!

I just got an email from AECOM informing me that my acceptance letter was in the mail!! 🙂 This certainly made my day. Best of luck to all still waiting

Congratulations bry! Are you going?

Regarding financial aid at Einstein.... I emailed asking about the maximum grant or maximum scholarship....

Brace yourselves....

its 2,500 dollars.

Who on Earth would call that "good" financial aid? They must be talking about loans from the school....

I would really like to go, but it is all just up in the air right now. This afternoon i had one acceptance. By this evening i found out from three more schools! After months of waiting it all came in one day. Perhaps a night of poker and relaxing will let it all sink in! But as of right now i am quite excited about einstein 🙂

congrats bry2781, did you email them asking about your status or did they just email you the news? Also when did you interview? I have been waiting since late january and nothing....thanks for the info

they sent me an email wednesday last week asking if i had decided on a school as of yet or if i was still considering Einstein. I wrote back saying i was still interested and friday i received an email notifying me of my acceptance. Today i received the letter in the mail. I interviewed 1/20. Best of luck!

Thank you all for keeping me sane with your continued posts! Keep them coming... 🙂
Still waiting. 😛

I interviewed Jan. 29. I think there may be a lull though now in news since Einstein is on break until April 14. Gotta love the waiting... +pissed+

Wow you've waited 10 weeks. I can't imagine how much longer I have to wait - I interviewed at the end of February. So sick of waiting...+pity+

if it makes you feel better, I interviewed in March...

what's the deal with that violin guy... he's so pale! what a weirdo:

"here I am... I'm pale cause I'm sad that I only have one arm, but at least I have a violin and now I play MUSIC..."

what a weirdo...+pity+

So the Einstein thread has been awfully quiet... anyone hear anything? Will be celebrating the 12-week anniversary of my Einstein interview this Thursday. 😳

Chopin you should call them! If you do, please let us know what they said.
I haven't heard anything yet, though.

I interviewed in mid-March. I called them on Friday and they said that it would take abut 10 weeks to hear post-interview!!! In fact, most likely mid-March and later interviewees would hear AFTER May 15th!!! Urgh. Does anyone know if Einstein has rolling admissions?

I think they accept people on a rolling basis after the Jan. 15 batch of acceptances was sent out.

I'm about to graduate Einstein. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I got in off the wait list in June.... just as soon as I had resubmitted my AMCAS application. Hang on all you waitlisted folks.... there is hope.

Hey guys:

I just called the admissions office this morning for an update on the status of my application, and they said that the committee is looking over the 2-13-04 interviews this week. So those interviewed around this time should know the results in about 2 weeks. Good luck everyone! :luck:

I don't have any basis for comparision, but I thought it was pretty good. They also offer subsidized loans beyond what you can take from the governement. This is great because it keeps down the amount of interest that accrues while you are student. My memory is failing, but I think the max is about $3500/year. It definitely saved me a bunch of money.

Two full schollarships are also awarded at the end of first year to the top two students in the class. I think they even reimburse your first year tuition.

I have two questions for picklebee:

1) I am guessing that during a specific week, they look over the interviews from "the week of ____." Feb. 13 was a Friday, so are they looking at the interviews from the week of Feb. 9-13 or the week of Feb. 13-20?
2) Why would it take them so long (2 weeks after review) to send out a decision?

So I too called the admissions office. Basically they told me that even though admissions meetings are still being held every week, decisions are only being sent out every few weeks. So even if a decision has already been made (as in my case... I interviewed at the end of January), I won't hear until the next batch of decision letters goes out, in 1-2 weeks. Oy. Good luck to everyone else in the fun-filled waiting boat.

Hey Audioslave:

They basically asked what day I interviewed, and then told me that those interviews were next in line to be seen by the admissions committee. And when I asked how soon after I should expect an acceptance, they said "about two weeks." That's all the info I know. I recommend you call them if you still have questions. The lady I spoke with was very pleasant. Good luck!

BTW: Kick ass band

Thanks a lot picklebee. Sorry for the obcessive questions - this process is driving me nuts. I guess my application will be reviewed two weeks after yours, which means another month of waiting....Good luck picklebee and everyone waiting!
Audioslave rocks!

My letter arrived today... I'm in! In interviewed January 29. Good luck to everyone still waiting, and thank you to all of those who posted along the way. 🙂

Good news here! I got an e-mail from Dean Kerrigan today, asking about my interest in Einstein. I wrote her back saying that if accepted, I will attend. So happy!!!

Grats Audio!

If you don't mind me asking what day at the end of feburary you interview?

A friend of mine who interviewed the last monday of Feb got a waitlist letter this past week.

Here's hopign I get in too! =) (Interviewed March 1st)

Hey everyone,
I got kinda antsy and decided to call in to find out what the deal was with my application. Turns out that as of today they haven't finished the Feburary interviews 😕... and are probably not gonna get to the March interviews until 2-3 weeks (after the May 15th deadline 🙁 ).

Well.... on the bright side..... I haven't been waitlisted/rejected 😳. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

- Tombit

Anyone else interviewed at the end of Feb received any news??? Still waiting for mine

Hey guys:

I interviewed on Feb 13th, and received my waitlist letter on Monday May 3. Bummed me out for the rest of the day. Any suggestions or pieces of uplifting advice? 🙁

Hey, so what is the deal with the waitlist?

What are the chances of getting in off of the waitlist at einstein? is there typically a lot of movement?

And is it unranked or ranked or what?

Picklebee,

Don't be so sad!! A waitlist mean that you still have a chance so just hang in there. On a side note, still waiting on a decision. Good luck everyone 🙂

picklebee, there's still hope! I've seen a couple of SDNers in Einstein's class of 2007 that got pulled off the waitlist in June last year. Good luck!

On a side note, it looks like the class is pretty much full because I haven't received an acceptance yet after replying to Dean Kerrigan's e-mail and indicating my interest in Einstein. They're probably waiting for people to withdraw now before they issue more acceptances.

Hey guys, Audioslave is right. I know someone in the same position as him/her. He called the office and they told him that he's "in a very good position." The class is full, and once people start withdrawing, those people who got the e-mail will be issued acceptances. Also, I've heard that Einstein's waitlist has a decent amount of waitlist movement so good luck to those on the waitlist!

EINSTEIN is SOOOOO slow and disorganized at times. To me the name does not present an accurate reflection..

What takes them so long? I only had a 30-40 min interview.....(yeah...didnt go so well). How much more is left to review in my file.

When did interviews end? I interviewed the first week in March and still havent heard anything. I cant imagine when people who interviewed later will hear......

Oh well, probably wont go if I get in anyway.

Well, I think they only meet once a month. Interviews went until the end of April. And people who interviewed later will hear in June, or thats what the lady told me when I was there mid-April.

you must be joking. why are you even wasting their time with your application if you're not even interested in the school?

Good question. I figure since I completed the secondary and interviewed I at least deserve some sort of response.

I have withdrawn from the other schools that would not consider going to that have waitlisted me.

Wow!

Well, that kind of matches with what I heard when I called in. Well look on the bright side everyone, they wouldn't be interviewing till April 30 if history in the past told them that they needed to 😛 .

Just wondering, has anyone that has interviewed in March-April recieved an e-mail?

- Tombit

hang in there everyone! 😳

Thanks Marr and Audioslave! I'll keep hanging in there for that acceptance. After all, my student host DID get in from the waitlist a few weeks before school started. She basically got an Einstein acquaintance to write her a recommendation letter. I guess all I can do now is the three Ws: worry, wait, and write. In any case, best of luck to everyone! Hope things get brighter as May 15 rolls around. Still sad, but getting over it. 🙁 --> 😳

OK, just to update you guys who may be waiting, I heard from Einstein today via email. I interviewed in late March and have been waiting quite some time now. This is what they said:

"I am happy to inform you that the Committee on Admissions of the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine has favorably reviewed your application and is
in the process of formulating its acceptance and wait-lists. At this time
we would like some guidance from you regarding your level of interest in
Einstein.

We realize that by now, you may have received an acceptance to your first
choice school. If so, we congratulate you and ask that you let us know
that you do not wish to be considered further.

If, however, of the schools at which your application remains active,
Einstein is among your top choices, please let us know that.

If we do not hear from you by the third week of May, we shall assume that
you are no longer interested in being considered and will withdraw your
name from the roster of active applicants.

As always, we thank you for your interest in Einstein and wish you the best
of luck and the wisdom to make the best choice for you!"

How weird is that? Maybe if they didn't wait until the last second, they could afford to accept who they wanted to. So silly.
😕

You interviewed at the end of March? I interviewed in March and haven't heard a think 🙁 Did you get that email from Dean Kerrigan? Is that the email that everyone has been getting?

Come to think of it, it might have been mid-march. Yes, the email was from Dean Kerrigan, or at least had her name on the bottom. From what I hear, they take a while to make decisions, so I don't think you should be worried. Try calling the office or writing a letter of intent. It sounds like they need some guidance on who to take, and that they'de rather take people who are interested in going there, so let them know if you are!

Thanks for posting Johnnie! At least for us late interviewee's we are getting an idea of what's going on 🙂 .

Zahri, I'm in the same boat as you 😳 . But if it's any consolation it looks like they're all over the place as to when they look at applications. So good things might still await =).

Thanks JonnieBlue and tombit. Tombit, if accepted will you go? JonnieBlue are you planning to go? Einstein isn't my top choice but I would still be happy to go there... Good luck to ya 😀
