does it look good to have a math minor? i am one semester away but dont know if i want two minors. anyone have thoughts on this if i got a b and would lower my bcpm gpa?

Math minor?

You probably should go Caribbean or DO. A math minor has never been accepted to a US MD school ever.

Your on a role of great questions my friend. Does a minor ever make much of a difference, maybe a minor one😉. But seriously, it would help, a little, maybe equivalent to an extra 50 hours volunteering at the homeless shelter.

I'm a math minor. The key is to apply junior year and then save the last hard math class for senior year so it doesn't hurt the gpa on your application.

...finishing up my math minor this year;

-in regards to "looking good," I think adcoms perceive it the same way someone would if you mentioned it on a date

in other words (as people seem to be getting at) in the end, it's just a minor: don't expect too much from it

If you have the time go for it-
I'd say don't worry about what grade you get in the course; but it looks like im on the wrong site to say anything like that...

I'm pretty sure nobody on SDN has ever gotten a B, but there are probably a few stragglers every year who get into medical school with a B on their record. They just prefer to remain anonymous.

P.S. I think you should start more threads. 👍

I think it might be interesting if your major was in humanities, or something equally non-quantitative. An engineer with a math minor is like a hooker in Vegas... nothing surprising. 😎

I've got a math minor (and no I'm not an engineer). I wouldn't say to do it for any reason other than that you like math.

It came up in my interviews a couple of times as something to talk about (why I like math, math with biology, yada yada).

...basically what mrbuttersworth said.
