Anyone Else With 30+ MCAT Not Getting Any Love From Drexel?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does everyone else have "Not entered" under "Application Preference"? It's under the application summary section...

sweet my "View Interview Appointment" option on the website disappeared sometime today.. which leads me to believe that my file was reviewed today. Yes.. this is what waiting for too long does to me. 🙁 Any other people who interviewed notice this? Especially those with decisions already made? Yea.. it's time to take a break from thinkin bout med school lol.

bumpin my own post up. i know it's a ridiculous thing to ask but can ppl who've interviewd tell me if they see this option still on their status page?

During Drexel's presentation, Dr. Hanau said they have admissions committee meetings every Thursday afternoon and like to inform applicants of their decision within 6 weeks (give or take) of the interview. Hope this helps.

When did you interview? And how was the day? Just wondering if it is as disorganized as everything else associated with Drexel admissions.

When did you interview? And let us what changes in the staus page mean (assuming you find out) ... just info to store away for future reference.

10/19 .. 4 week more coming up next thursday!

Robizzle, I wouldn't be suprised it that dissapearing link means that there is some activity with your file. I have not heard anything about what it may mean, but its at least something different right? I'm pulling for you man! Since only a little over a thousand people get interviewed for like 220 spots (about) those are decent odds. Especially since the number of total acceptance offers is probably over double the number of seats in order to finally fill the class. Good luck!

I don't think it's ridiculous. I'd want to know too. Looks like you'll be getting a decision soon. Let us know if there are/were any changes on your status page that actually did signal what is/was happening with your file.

haemulon thanks man.. your words are always very encouraging lol. u, drVN, jackie (already successful), and several others are ppl that i really wanna see succeed this cycle. but yea its like 1700 interviews for 255 seats which is freakin nutso in my opinion... especially seeing as how only THREE people on SDN have gotten accepted so far. anyways, i'm gonna post my question again just incase any bored ppl wanna help me out! =)

No love is killin' me...

When I click on "View Your Decision" I keep getting "Decision not available. Butthead."

Bah!

WOOT! I'm in at Drexel!!!

Oh yeah, 26Q, 3.2 overall GPA, 3.1 Science GPA.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just kidding... I didn't apply to Drexel, and hell no, those aren't my real stats. Sorry, but just wanted to break up the dispair a little. Don't sweat it, it's still early in the game, everyone. Best of luck to you all.

haha totally uncalled for, but intentions were good so you're cool in my book 👍 Good luck to you too.

no love here from drexel either 33R/ 3.6gpa and complete since mid august. also no love from TJ, but temple did offer me an invite.

also...when i log into my application under status it says "you will be asked to enter your banner ID and pin again" but there's no way for me to actually enter it. weeeeird.

that is weird.. there should be a "View Status" link located right on top of that.

You have three acceptances, including one from Georgetown. Would you prefer to go to Drexel, Jefferson, or Temple?

If I were you, I would PM the people who got in to ask the question. They're prolly not reading these threads as frequently as those who are still waiting.

yea that's what ive been doin! here's the answer that i've come to:

acceptees, waitlistees, and people who have not gotten acceptances yet have all had that link removed so it means absolutely nothing 🙁 . decisions have been comin in at around the 6 week mark, and the status page never gets updated with your decision. hope this helps other people who are impatiently waiting!

thanks for all the help ppl.

Yeh, that "Decision not available" stays the same even after you are offered an interview.

Hey, congrats on the interview Haemulon. I'm from Philly so if you have any questions about Philadelphia or getting to Drexel, let me know.

probably not. just joining in on the conversation and mostly wondering why my status page seems to be weird!

somehow this has become my official drexel page, so bumpin this up for some good luck for everyone for this week. I <3 you drexel.

Hey, congrats on the interview Haemulon. I'm from Philly so if you have any questions about Philadelphia or getting to Drexel, let me know.

I appreciate it. I have only been to philly a couple of times, so am interested in looking around more. I have some family that lives very near there, so I will be driving up to stay with them. I thought I heard someone say that Drexel is in a bad part of Philly, but that the campus itsself is pretty nice. But the area I live in has good and bad areas too, so I'm used to it.

Where the campus is located is not that bad. But you don't have to go very far from campus before you get into areas that can be a little dicey. In my opinion, the area surrounding Drexel's med school is not as bad as that surrounding Temple (in the absolute worst part of the City) or UPenn.

What about Hahneman? Isn't that their teaching hospital. How is that area?

that's in the actual city city, so its not that bad. i like center city as a whole, reminds if me of NYC just smaller.

It's in center city, whereas the medical school campus is in East Falls (Farmount Park) I think the area that Hahnemann is in is pretty cool, as is most of center city Philly.

Be aware about East Falls though. A lot of people call it "nice" based on looks (lots of trees and "park-like" feel) but this area definitely sees it's fair share of crime. Just don't go jogging around at night - some people who are new to the area do this and its not a good idea, however safe this area may look.

Someone mentioned Temple and Upenn as a comparison.....Temple is in the worst area of Philly in my opinion, while Upenn is in a good area. Drexel med might be somewhere in between

What he said ^^. By the actual city he means center city Philly (Drexel's med school is in Philadelphia too, just not in the downtown area). Hahnemann is on the edge of the business/financial district in center city Philly and the area is generally fine. Like in any other big city, however, things can and do happen. (A parking lot attendant was shot and killed during a late-night robbery at a Hahnemann parking lot right next to the hospital about two months ago.) I would have no concerns about walking anywhere around Hahnemann during daytime/early evening hours. After that, you just have to use the common sense you would use in any other big city.

... while Upenn is in a good area. Drexel med might be somewhere in between

Upenn in a good area??? You've got to be kidding. Have you walked/driven around the surrounding West Philly neighborhoods? Since Penn has a literal army of security guards patroling the campus and surrounding areas, the incidence of crime has decreased over the past few years. And the campus itself is gorgeous. But to say it's in a good area ... ???

In my opinion, the ranking of the Philly med schools on the safety issue would be (from safest to least safest): PCOM, Jefferson, Drexel, Upenn, Temple

I havn't heard anything from them (33)...but I don't think its been 8 weeks yet since I interviewed. Further, I've heard that they are extremely poor at the whole post application response to students (in the sense that they tell you later then most schools what your final status is)

In essence...don't get your hopes up

Well, if I remember correctly, the 3 people who posted that they were accepted to Drexel interviewed at the end of September. So, for them it was less than 8 weeks. Hopefully you'll be getting some good news soon. Good luck!

UPenn is not in West Philly, its in University City. These are two COMPLETELY different areas ( I lived on 43th street so I am familiar with the area). University City does have about 3 different sets of police officers at all times. The campus is awesome. So yes, I would say that is a good area. Crime does happen of course, but I still think it's in a good area and not even in the same ballpark as Temple. Just my opinion

Well, I guess we have different standards for judging what a "good" area is. But I'll agree that Temple is worse ... although Temple will provide much more exposure to handling gun shot wounds.

By the way, these are not two completely different areas. UPenn agrees with me ...

The University of Pennsylvania campus is located in an area of West Philadelphia known as University City ...

University City is just a section of West Philadelphia.

🙄 Ask a resident of true West Philly if the Ivy kids live in West Philly and they will tell you otherwise.

Technically, you are right. University City is located in (on the edge) the region of the city called West Philly, which I think starts directly west of the Schuylkill River. But I prefer to think of it as its own little bubble.

Drexel apparently decided to interview me. Who knew? Maybe they're starting to show some 30+ love? 😕

Congrats on the interview invite. Good luck! I think I've been checking my status page too frequently. Last time I did I got a pop up window that said "YOU AGAIN?"

If anyone at Drexel is reading this, they should know that I still have plenty of openings in the next few months, but I would reccomend "acting now!".

I think the key to applications is to "set it and forget it". I've been having the best luck with schools I've completely forgotten about. 😎 I just got too tired of checking and re-checking.

Congrats, Severus. They didn't give you a lot of notice for travel time, no?

That said, I am completely amicable to same week travel if it comes to an interview at Drexel....

Congrats, Severus. They didn't give you a lot of notice for travel time, no?

Yeah, Severus, if that 11/20 date doesn't work out for you, I could probably rearrange my schedule to be there in your place. 🙂

That is awesome that you got an invite Severus. I wanted to pick one of those close November dates too, but couldn't because of my work schedule. At least I will get in there before the year is out though 😉 Good luck to you :luck:

i just got an invite today from drexel 😀

Congrats, Severus. They didn't give you a lot of notice for travel time, no?

Well, actually they gave me a whole list of possible dates in November, December, and January. I just chose next week because 1.) I live in Philly so it's no biggie and 2.) the beginning of December is just too hectic.

Thanks. And good luck to you Haemulon!! :luck: :luck: :luck: I'm totally rooting for you this application cycle.

Congratulations on the interviews Severus and davee. To the rest of us, look on the bright side. At least we're not posting on the "Still Waiting To Be Verified By AMCAS Thread!"
