Have they ever released results earlier than the night before? It seems like the computer based tests might have sped things up at least a little.

I'm going to be mad if I have to endure a long week of tests, quizes, and lab reports and then find out I got a bad score.

I'd like to say ahead of time, I'm very worried for anyone who has this list.

That being said, I'd like to know too. lol

I don't know when they were promised in the past, but here's some dates:
Aug 2003 released 10/13
Aug 2004 released 10/12
Aug 2005 released 10/13

Aug 16th 2003 released 10/13 10:25 pm (Monday)
Aug 14th 2004 released 10/12 1:30 pm (Tuesday)
Aug 20th 2005 released 10/13 11:20 pm (Thursday)

Aug 16th 2003 released 10/13 10:25 pm (Monday)
Aug 14th 2004 released 10/12 1:30 pm (Tuesday)
Aug 20th 2005 released 10/13 11:20 pm (Thursday)

Ok. The above took 58, 59, and 54 days to release respectively.

If you add those numbers to 8/19/2006 you get 10/16/2006, 10/17/2006 and 10/12/2006. The average is 10/15/2006.

Everyone thinks its going to happen on 10/13/2006, which is less than average. F*** I am a loser.

I was thinking about doing that analysis, but you have to add in weekends and business days...so maybe take out a two day weekend? Who knows how they work... but I think friday night is the best guess

Right now those numbers include weekends, holidays, etc. It may be a good idea to take those out and compare working days.

Who knows? The process is not transparent in ANY way.

add in CBT and Paper complications and the sheer volume of test takers.

I don't know. We really don't know how many test takers there are. Usually August is more than April, but we are comparing only Aug exams above.

There is rumor that this will be a larger number of test takers because it is the last paper version. I have yet to see any convincing proof though.

i've heard about this rumor as well...but we won't know its validity until probably later on this year

Right. When they release the percentile information they usually include the number of test takers.

i think more people are willing to wait for the shorter version than take the last paper... or at least it would even out. The number of test takers has been trending up lately, I think it'll break 40k again for August

If you take the average growth in # of applicants for the last two august admins (about 7% and 9%) and calculate a projected number for this term you get 40928.64198 test takers. So, you may be right.

I don't know about all of you, but I'm going to start the countdown with a nice stiff drink. I can't concentrate. All I keep thinking is these scores! This is my third attempt, I have submitted 19 applications, and a few schools have already told me that if I did decently on the test, then I'll be in line for an interview(it's nice to know people)! If I sucked, then.... Maybe I'll get that stiff drink now😉

I know in my case, I took it early (summer after sophomore year, i'm a junior now), especially because it was the last paper test, and it would give me another decent chance if i seriously screwed it up.

Many of my friends did the same thing...so i would agree that many people have taken it for this reason.

Am I the only one afraid I was the .64198 test taker? ><

if I had the option, I personally would have waited to take the shorter version, but I've heard of lots of people who took the test in August before they were ready, because it was the last paper test. So I woudln't be surprised if the number of test takers increased this time. But hey, I won't complain...better curve for us 🙂

Since more people than average took this test this August, I think we'll get our scores earliest on the 14th. I think the 13th is just a false hope, but I am going to start checking the Thx on Thursday....

I heard a lot of people go in with a "if this doesn't work out, I can always retake" attitude... so I think you might be right

Well, I don't plan to retake regardless. If I get a 20 or something like that, I just won't become a doctor. Move on for another career. I put 100% effort into this and I know I can never repeat that type of hard work again.

couldn't the <.64 taker be the one who gets the 42 and above cuz that's rare also. think about that and chin up

anyone who was around here before the august MCAT definitely studied their asses off... I'm mostly talking about some people at my school.

It must be nice to have such a care-free approach to this. I've made up my mind to keep applying til I get in

Regardless of how many people took it, I think the scores are ready and already inputted in the system. I'm not a computer expert, but yesterday and the day before Thx was loading really slowly...could it be they were entering the scores?

I think two months is WAY more than they needed to grade, normalize, and throw a party on our scantrons, so I doubt the greater number of test takers will affect what day our scores are released.

If I do apply this cycle and don't get any offers, I would consider to reapply if my scores weren't bad. I certainly wouldn't reapply to the same schools. They ain't gettin' my monies for a 2nd time. Know what I'm saying?

they would never put all the scores on a single computer accessible from the net. There are probably two computers (or more) . One sits on the web , one has all the scores. When you go to log in, the comptuer on the net will call the score from the computer not on the web.

Aug 16th 2003 released 10/13 10:25 pm (Monday)
Aug 14th 2004 released 10/12 1:30 pm (Tuesday)
Aug 20th 2005 released 10/13 11:20 pm (Thursday)

All of those had the predicted dates in the middle of the week, but ours is on a Saturday. Am I the only one who is thinking they will possibly wait until Monday morning to post them? It just seems odd that they would have people working at 10pm on a Friday night. Or on a Saturday even.

these are actual release dates not predicted dates... but yes it would seem weird for them to be in on friday or saturday, but this is a hard deadline that can't be missed since Oct 15 is the cut off date for some schools and their applications

All this talk and statistical analysis is interesting, but what it comes down to is that they said the scores will be available on or around October 14th. So, unless they lied to us, it has to be up there at least on Saturday. I know that isn't much of a consolation. The October 15th deadline makes sense, so we know pretty much it has to be on or before that. We're talking about a span of two days (three if you include friday) here, so at least let's try to be patient and and perhaps talk about something to relieve our anxiety.

I'm as anxious as the rest of you guys but let's try to get our minds off something we can't control, neh?

For all we know, they were done grading the exams 2 weeks ago, programmed their web server to make the scores available at 12:00AM on October 14th, and went on vacation.

However, scores have never been released on a Sat or friday for that matter (at least that I know of)

for a website like AAMC that's getting as much traffic as they are, I highly doubt their website is being served on two computers 🙂

I hope so, because then my scores will reflect all of those people who didn't prepare as well as they should have 😀

Calculating days between test and release minus weekends and holidays gives 41, 42 and 39 days.... 39 days would be today, 41 would be monday.

someone said in the countdown thread that they called and it will be tomorrow night

Hey, about the August 2005 mcat.. I checked my THx score early (cuz I couldn't wait till midnite ish) and I got my score at around 9pm. I know it had to have been earlier than 11:20, because I called my parents and they (and my little brother) were still awake.
