Received an invite via email (child track) on 11/25.
Has anybody heard from the MUSC/Charleston Consortium child or trauma tracks? I know they've sent some invites and that they send invites on a rolling basis, but I haven't been able to pin down yet on what basis they are rolling 😛

No news from St Johns or Tarzana Treatment Center for me. Super anxiously nail biting seeing it posted tonight! I don’t want to get my hopes up. I have six rejections so far and feel more coming on. But that’s okay!
I’m pretty sure Tarzana is sending invitations in waves so I wouldn’t give up hope yet

It's frustrating that I have a specific, seemingly unpredictable site in mind and, if I receive a rejection from them, I'll likely experience it as a bigger issue than it really is. I really want to receive 1-2 more interviews just to be safe, and any of my sites will suffice (on paper), but there's still that lingering desire for a particular site.

Any chance someone on here scheduled the Miami VA for January 29th and willing to change to the 10th or 16th? Thanks!

At what point is it okay to contact a site about interview details (time, location, etc)? I have an interview next week and have not heard a peep from the site...

How long ago did you receive the interview invite? Did they mention they were going to follow up with details via email?
Invite a while back, but date was confirmed only recently, so I know they are stressed for time. I'll give them til end of day, I guess and then follow up.

Anyone heard about interview or rejection from Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago?

Received an interview via personal email yesterday -offered only one date which was a date I had already committed for another interview. They said all other dates were booked and not able to move me or do a phone interview - pretty bummed and disappointed.

Just got this email from UAB-BVAMC:

"The UAB-BVAMC Clinical Psychology Internship Consortium has recently completed the reaccreditation process. Unfortunately, we received notification that the program is being placed on probation related to not meeting standards for training in supervision and research and not properly assessing recent graduates. We will be addressing the issues in the coming months and expect that needed data as well as training in supervision and research will be implemented to meet standards. That said, we will not be able to assure applicants that they will match to an accredited program during this cycle. The training faculty and leadership are fully committed to having full accreditation reinstated when the next training year begins. We understand that this may have a negative impact on your decision regarding coming for interview as well as ranking the program. Please know that you may withdraw your application; if you wish to do so, please let us know so that we can plan interviews accordingly."

For those of you who got this, is anyone planning to contact APPIC to see if this would qualify for a refund? Per my DCT, I'm going to have to withdraw my application from this site now.

Wow that is disappointing.. I’m sorry that happened to you!

I just added a December "oh crap" site to my submitted apps- and I realized it should have been on my list all along! It seems like a good fit and it helps ease some of my worries. I have a few more December deadline sites that may get added as well.
I had two of the December VA's on my initial list, there's definitely some good sites on there!

Likewise. I haven't considered the APPIC component yet. I am surprised that an established site managed to get to this point, but it would now be a major risk in terms of ranking them.

I have already paid for a plane ticket and lodging (non-refundable and hefty cancelation fee respectively), so I still plan to attend the interview. Canceling won't save me much money and the interview experience will still be informative. However, this will certainly negatively affect my likelihood to rank this site due to the uncertainty.

I emailed and called APPIC, and they said “refund is on the way” and this email was exactly two weeks ago.

i would email and call, cuz I would be interested in hearing what they tell you!

I was in that position as well. I planned to interview anyway but, after speaking to APA, the risk seems too high given their next meeting date in relation to Match Day. I guess it probably depends most on what each applicant's program will permit.

Random question: do people think it is acceptable to bring a backpack to an interview or is it unprofessional? I will have to catch a flight right after one interview, and I plan to carry a portfolio to the actual interview after dropping the backpack somewhere, maybe the front desk or staff lounge.

I'm planning to interview, and I may just not rank them or rank them last.

Oh yikes, I'm am grateful for my procrastination in scheduling interview travels right about now.

That sounds fine to me, I just wouldn't bring the backpack into the actual interview, but seems like you've already figured that out

I had the same situation so I brought my entire luggage to an interview. They said "We have people catching flights right after every year." so they had a dedicated room for people's stuff.

People always have bags, backpacks, luggage, etc. It's expected. We have a locked room set aside for people to leave stuff in. Most sites will have something similar.

That's a relief to know. Thank you so much!

Rejection from Terry Children's Center - Delaware Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services

A lot of people do and sites usually have a specific area, like a locked room or something, for you to safely leave your belongings.

What is the risk of interviewing if you decide not to rank? Also, what did you hear from APA? I am curious (although it doesn't change anything for me since I'm sitting in the airport already). I wish I had more than a day's notice before my travel plans so I could at least try to determine what my options were in a better way. Oh well.

One of my interviews is all day in-person. The problem is that I’m going to need to pump sometime during the interview day as I’m nursing. Is it appropriate to ask for accommodations as well as a specific time when I can step away and pump? Anyone gone through this before? I’m just not sure how to approach this situation!

Absolutely! There is NOTHING wrong with that! You go mama! If they do not have accommodating spaces.. that says something SERIOUS about the hospital. I woman from the cohort ahead of me had a baby who was was very premature and she needed to pump constantly and every single hospital permitted her to, and she matched at an exceptionally prestigious site.

Yes! It’s appropriate to ask for accommodations for pumping. I did on a number of interviews. Everyone was very responsive and scheduled my interviews so that I had at least 2 15-30 minute breaks for all day interview days. I just sent the TD/who ever is scheduling an email with my needs, and it went well each time. And my personal view is that if it doesn’t go well, it’s probably not a site I want to work at anyway. Feel free to DM me with any questions or for general momming-on-internship related support 🙂
