APPIC Interview Invitation Thread (2021)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I haven't received any emails like this (yet?) but is the assumption that this is the decision for all of those not interviewed or that there is another group of people that all receive rejections without being ranked by the site?
Most sites don’t do this, in fact I’d say it’s relatively rare. You either get an invite or rejected. In a rare case like this, you’ll get notified that you aren’t being interviewed but your application isn’t rejected. You’re on the “waitlist”, and it’s possible, though more unlikely, to match from a waitlist. But it does happen.

Same! Did anyone else who heard back from this site get an odd support ticket generated when they replied about scheduling? It seems like they're using an application management service and there weren't any other options for ways to contact the site, but I'm a little concerned my reply didn't go through.
I got the weird support ticket too. I assume the email we replied to serves as a help desk for some things as well.

So I have received 4 rejections, 0 interviews. I have 10 sites I have not heard back from. Should I consider applying to a few more sites?
Going by the research, applying to any additional sites above 15 won’t really increase your probability of matching by much unfortunately. Of course, apply to any new sites that you strongly feel a good match towards, but just know that applying for more in hopes of increasing odds doesn’t work that way.

I’m sorry. For what track? I have no idea people get through all the waiting haha.
Thanks! Now that I think about it, I actually think you guys probably meant the medical center site. I was talking about the Vanderbilt Counseling Center. I forgot there were two different Vandy sites. Sorry to get your hopes up! The waiting is definitely the worst part

I'm in the same boat (4 rejections, 0 interviews, 16 sites that haven't replied yet), and I'm very tempted to apply to a few more, if for no other reason than to at least feel proactive rather than powerless...

No worries! I forgot there was another site as well lol.

Okay friends, time to channel this extra election/Covid/overall state of the world worry into something more productive than rewatching the Great British Baking Show.

This thread is primarily to share invitations for interviews. Feel free to PM me if you’d prefer to stay anonymous. I’ll do my best to stay on top of updates. Additional posts, such as site-specific questions, rejections, and general community support in these uncertain times are accepted and highly encouraged!

This happened to prior intern applicants in my department and the Department Chair said it is rare, but was adamant that if a site still says it will rank you even without an interview then the smart move is to include it in your rankings as well. It is fine if you rank it at the very bottom, but doing so could be the difference between matching or not matching (because even though the odds are good, none of us are guaranteed a match) OR it could lead to a swift Phase II offer. No one ever wound up at the ranked-but-no-interview site, but when the process was over everyone did say they felt better ranking them as more of a 'I did everything I possibly could to match' kind of thing. Depending on one's belief system this may also be a way of putting out to whatever/whomever you believe in that you are ready to move forward and willing to weather the unknowns if need be.

Same here! I haven’t heard anything either yet. Last year they sent their peds neuro invites out on 11/20, so I am expecting we should hear sometime soon.

I applied and have not heard anything yet either! My understanding I that usually the rejections go out later than the acceptances. Hopefully they are making more calls today!

I applied to their medical center and have not heard back. It looks like someone else got an interview at their counseling center.
