Are 100 level business classes frowned upon?

So this semester I'm taking three 400 level science classes, but I thought that I could sprinkle in a couple business classes since I really have no exposure to it and will surely need it in dentistry. Since I waited so long to smooth things out, most of the 200 level classes are full/on a different campus. Do you think it would look real bad to have a 100 level course even though I have a few upper level science classes? I think the course material will still be pertinent, just wanted some opinions.

I think it would be fine. You can certainly make it look good in an interview if someone asks you about it. You could explain that in shadowing you found that mosts dentists said they felt weak in their business experience and wished they could go back and take some business classes. You just want to feel prepared, etc.

I definitely doubt, beside the pre-dental requirements most schools ask for, that dental schools care what electives/what else you take. College used to be about exploring and learning new things....If dental schools are going to hold 100 level aka intro courses against you then i am in deep ****. I have credits in yoga, dance, intro to 3d design, and other art or physical education 101 classes. Sure these classes aren't as difficult as Biochem but they are of a totally different mindset and discipline and are challenging in their own respect. Gotta live a little....I have no doubt in my mind a 100levelbusiness (which actually pertains to dentistry in a way) and shows other interests will be perfectly fine...now trying to explain the relevance of a yoga class to an adcom is much more difficult...but who cares it is my self interest.

It's true. Every dentist I tell that I've graduated with a business degree always says the same sort of "I wish I would have..." thing. It's easy to explain if someone actually asked about your electives...and I highly doubt they would unless it was something crazy (at which point they'd probably just be curious).

Be a well-rounded, open-minded individual (within reason). There are enough bookworm, hardcore science majors out there (nothing wrong with that either). But you better bust out an A.

You have the required courses and are taking upper-level science classes, so you're in great shape. I don't think adcoms care if you take a 100 level business class instead of a 200 level class.

My first degree is in business. The dean at my state dental school told me that was really something good to have.

As far as what business classes to take, I would suggest any Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Management courses. These will all help. I would stay away from Economics, Information Systems, etc. as these are theory based or not necessary for running an office.
