I guess I fall in the progressive republican side as well. Frankly, I am not religious so I do not have strong views on issues such as abortion, gay marriage.
I think stem cell research should expand and I wish more republicans would follow bill frist and his call for expansion in stem cell research. I just do not understand the opposing point of view here. Someone please elighten me. AA is annoying, and the death penalty is necessary in certain situations, but we cannot go off killing people and then find out these convicted felons were innocent.

I see your point. The top medical schools are definately awash in leftist thinking, look at Harvard. This is my theory as to why top medical schools like Harvard, are so leftist. Harvard medical school is known for its innovation and medical advancements. Why is this do you think? Sure they have excellent minds there, but they want to produce academic docs. In my opinion, the majority of academic docs are not motivated by the money, more so the innovation and groundbreaking discoveries. These docs are more for scientific advances and despise socially conservative values like limiting stem cell research. Thus these people fall into the left and eventually these same people are now all on the Admissions COMS and Deans of there respective medical schools.

If you want to talk about the stereotypes surrounding asians, perhaps you should first look at the stereotypes surrounding whites in this country (racist, xenophobic, etc.) and then look at yourself. Because, though it is difficult to tell from this thread, not all of "you guys" (whites) are bigots, just as not all asians major in science, never leave the library, and don't think originally. Perhaps you should get out of your bubble and do some thinking of your own on race relations before basing your comments on your own stereotypes, fears and insecurities.

As far as money goes, academic docs want money for their projects, while the private practice docs want money for cars, house, need to keep trophy wife happy etc. I also think medical schools keep plugging altruistic bs is that primary care is lacking in many states, and the schools probably feel that primary care docs are more likely to be altruistic verses the money motive of specialists.

In highschool, there were 20 people in my calc class, 15 asians, 5 white kids (myself included). I did not know one single asian, I did not even know most of them attended the same highschool as me untill I saw these students in calc. These same students did not participate in the things americans take pride in, sports for example. I played football and baseball and I was asked by many of these students why I was wasting my time playing sports since I would never turn professional. I also never saw these kids at homecoming, winterfest, prom. They put studying above all else and that is why so many asians make up a large percentage of a medical school class. This is how it is and how it will continue to be, because the average american student is lazy. Do not flame me as it was not my intention to disrespect anyone here.

I find this very hard to believe. just because you didn't SEE any asians at football games/parties etc. doesn't mean there weren't any present. Or do you specifically LOOK for asian people at all your high school functions? When did being nerdy necessarily exclude you from attending your school homecoming/prom/football activities?
