Posted a thread then I saw this, maybe you guys know the answer.

I received an A in an introductory theology class at my university in the US. Later on, I did study abroad in Peru, which had a required course list and required the same theology class in order for me to attend the campus in Peru. So I have a class I have taken twice, received an A both times, the second time in Peru. Do I list it as a retake or as study abroad?

On a related note, do I need transcripts from my study abroad school in Peru? I am under the impression that since it was through my university that I don't need that.

yes you would need to get the transcripts from Peru. And I would put it down as retake-study abroad.

I took a class called "Stories of Social Changes" which satisfy the Literature liberal arts requirement at my school to graduate. This class involves a lot of reading and writing, even though it is technically not writing intensive. Do I get to classify it as English or is it still Other Science? So far I only have 1 official English course, which is Freshman Writing 101.

So this sucks. The first school I went to says my AP scores were only enough for 3 english credits where my other schools (where I'll actually earn a degree) have given me 6 hours of english credit... I feel like this is the most random problem to have and can't find any similar threads... And ofc aadsas phone line isn't working 😕

No if it's through the university, you don't need to send transcripts. That's how my study abroad was. If it's listed as "transfer credits" or something then I think you would, which might be the case for programs like CIEE. I would list the second one as study abroad an not a retake. Probably a judgment call

Classified as non-science. Still might fulfill the English requirement at schools, but it's not an English class

What's the question?

On the AADSAS application when entering coursework, which class do you specify was a retake? The one you took the first time or the second one you got a better grade in?

What's the question?
Sorry just venting. I asked a question about this yesterday and nobody replied so I figured it's too random for anybody to know. If anybody knows how to deal with discrepancies in ap coursework awarded by two different institutions that would be cool. Obviously I want to get credit for English 1/2 without AADSAS just looking at my first transcript and going "nope".

My transcripts shoukd have been delivered by now but "date recieved" in aadsas is still blank, does it take them a while to update?

Same here. I believe we just have to wait I think.

So the answer for anyone who reads this later. List your degree awarding/current school as the one where you received the AP credit even if you started years later... i.e. the year you finished high school + your current school and the lady on the phone assured me they will understand whats going on... crisis averted lol

The second one should be specified as retake, regardless of whether you did better or not.

Pretty sure it'd be non-science, but what say you all about Health Psychology?

PSY 348 Health Psychology

Under the AADSAS course subjects document, there is "Cognitive Psychology" and "Cognitive Sciences" listed under Biology. Should I list it as a Biology course and see if it gets corrected? Or not risk it at all?

EDIT: Just saw under Non-science there is "Health Science" listed. So there goes that.

I took the same class (different university than you) and put mine under non-science.

Do the schools not look at my stuff until the committee at my school sends their letter?

As I am filling out my application (as a re-applicant), it asks if I have ever applied to dental school before, so I said yes. But then it asks to list the schools I applied too, but it's not required that I write anything in that section (it doesn't have a red dot next to it). So do you think I should write anything in there? I kind of don't want to tbh.

Yes, especially if you are reapplying to the same schools.

Ok I lied it's required. I just feel like it might be a disadvantage if other schools realize what schools I applied to previously...

Yes, especially if you are reapplying to the same schools.
So you don't think that could be sort of like a disadvantage for me? Like other schools I will be applying too for the first time this year think that they might not have to offer me an interview because I might be applying to the same schools again or they might think of some other reason?

Also, I am in a scholars program at my school. We usually do some volunteer work but the people in charge of that program also give us tips on how to do well in school, how to write a resume, etc. Last year I put this in the extracurricular section, but should I put it in the academic enrichment section instead this year?

first paragraph: I think you're thinking too much into it.
second paragraph: it sounds like an extracurricular activity.

I think if you applied to 50 schools and didn't get in anywhere it could raise some eyebrows but I think the biggest disadvantage would be lying about it. I think it could actually help show dedication to the field especially to the schools you are reapplying to.

QUESTION:
Regard the previous question about listing school as a reapplicant.

I ******edly applied to only one school last year, which was USC. I submitted the application, but I gave up and did not even do the 2nd app for USC. Am I a reapplicant? Do I need to list USC as a school I applied last year?

If you must know, reason is stupidity.

Yes to all. You could just say you didnt feel ready.

I have around 5,000 hours of paid Dental Hygiene work. I am planning on putting it under Dental Experience. Would this be best or under work experience? Thanks!

I became a TA for an anatomy class and will start this fall. Is that an extracurricular/volunteer activity, work (i'm not being paid), or academic enrichment?

Either is fine. I personally would put it as dental experience

Sorry, it's me again. I apologize for kept asking the questions separately, but my questions don't come up all at once.

QUESTION:
I am restraint in funding for the application. Should I add more schools as I get rejected? Meaning, I start with 10 schools, I get rejected from 2 schools, then I add an addition of 2 more schools. Pros and cons please.

Well the cons is rejections don't happen till later in the cycle, so some schools would have full slots already. You would essentially be a "late" applicant. The pros is you just might beat the odds and get in.

I'd just add them all at once. The later you designate them the harder it will be to snag an interview.

Hi guys! I know this has been asked in past threads but there have been conflicting opinions- if I took a course, withdrew and then took the course again for a grade the next semester, do I label the second course as repeated? Thanks!

I will too. We can put down future activities though? And how would the hours work?

I've already submitted my app and just realized I've made a mistake listing a course and also a mistake listing dates in the extracurriculars section. Although they're not huge problems, I'm thinking about trying to get my app back to correct them especially since my transcripts haven't been received yet. Is this possible? Anyone have experience with this before?

Heard its very difficult. You would need to call ADEA.

Question about the FAP here. I'm sending the Financial Aid Verification Form and I am 101% sure that they made an error. It says they want my 2014-2015 SAR... http://www.adea.org/uploadedFiles/G...ADSAS-FAP-Financial-Aid-Verification-form.pdf How come? In the fafsa website you can only see the one for this year (2016-17) and the previous (2015-16). How am I gonna get something that old?. I wasn't even in a 4-year school in that school year. I can't email them because they respond a week later. So, do you think if I send this year and the previous SAR I will be fine?

Just wondering, but where do you get that form/how/why are you filling that out? I filled out my FAP application online, e-submitted it on June 2nd, and then sent my tax forms in the mail the day after. I thought that was all we had to do and I don't recall ever reading about this form in the instructions :\ Were we also supposed to fill that out as well?

They won't let you. I tried. The course will eventually get fixed, either by them or by you, but you can't change the EC section

I participated in workshop at LLUSD that basically was seminars of different aspects/specialities of dentistry, hands on labs, and shadowing of the D3/D4 students. Would I consider this under Dentistry/Shadowing Experience or Academic Enrichment Program? I've also participated in several 2-day free clinics for the underprivelaged/remote area type events in the dental section by assisting in sterilizations, tray prep, shadowing, etc. Would that also be considered Dentistry/Shadowing Experience or more of Volunteer/Community? Thanks!

Academic enrichment and volunteer/community service, respectively.
