Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if any of the future vets here applied to vet schools in europe through the Atlantic Bridge Program. If so has anyone heard anything? Im a canadian student who applied this year, but i havent heard anythign as of yet.
I know the ABP is popular with the medical students, but i havent heard much from the veterinary side of it!
Thanks for your imput!

Hello! I'm actually a final year student at the Royal Vet College in the UK. I'm from New York and I applied through Atlantic Bridge. Thinking back to when I applied, I heard right around this time of the year. There are around 20-25 American/Canadian students enrolled each year. They do like to have us around, particularly since we pay most of the salaries of the clinicians! But seriously, it is a good program. You are more than welcome to e-mail me if you have any questions about the RVC or coming over to Europe. I know it can be very overwhelming! [email protected]

Thank you so much; you have mail!! 🙂

No problem! I replied to your e-mail just now! 🙂 Judy

Im from Canada as well, and I have also applied to RVC and UCD. I was intouch with the Atlantic Bridge program a few weeks ago, and UCD sent out their acceptances about a month ago. So, if you have not heard from UCD like me, you have not been accepted but you also have not been denied (meaning "wait list"). RVC on the other hand is apparently a few weeks behind in their application process as they received more applications then anticipated. Ill let you know if I hear anything else from either school. Hope this helps.
J
ps. keep me posted if you hear back from either school as well.

Hi There,

GPA- I had an 87% average, Im not sure how you convert it on a GPA scale.

Schooling- I have a BSc in biology and psychology

Animal Experience- I worked at a vet clinic in highschool, and I currently work at a vet clinic now. I also have work with animals pretty much my whole life. (majority of which is large animal experience, for example farm chores and things of that nature).

I dont think I wrote anything special on my application that may help.... i just made sure I wrote down everything, including one time when I was 12 and volunteered at a pet shop! I think they want to see who much variety in your experiences you have too.

I think my reference letters were well written too, I chose people who really knew me and I knew would give me a good reference.

Hope this helps, and good luck! I may not accept my offer, so perhaps you could end up taking my spot!😉

where are you thinking of going instead? thanks!

Well Hopefully Guelph, its the only domestic option if you live in Ontario. I just dont know if I can afford to take out the kind of loan i would need to pay for international fees.
