See, I've never liked/been a fan of his idiot savantness and when he gets something right people remember it but all the other times he's wrong it's just not remembered. But I typically don't hold grudges. I just really was triggered by his post.

Wasn't expecting to lead to a Bandwagon, and I'm not the only veteran to agree with it.

But be suspicious of me, I'm ok with that.

His nonchalantness is also unnerving... In a game like this, one in the lead needs to really fight for their lives.

Oh no, trust me, I remember when he is wrong too. And I generally don't "like" the idiot savantness but I do have to admit that it can be useful at times. I have to very begrudgingly admit that.

Admit nothing!!
You really don't want me getting a swelled head.

Okay, since I will be in an exam tomorrow morning, I will say it is a very poor choice for me to be lynched, but it will make the game much closer to what Dyachei probably wants.

About what?

From where I'm sitting, he is. You are too.

Also, to everyone, please don't turn this into a noobs vs vets flame war. I just realized how my post could come off, and that really wasn't my intent. I guess, any advice from my second question?

About lynching STL just because of a potential role flop.

I wasn't turning it into a flame war at all. I've been playing WW on SDN for years before it even made it into prevet, of all places. Hence why I am voicing my opinion.

As an aside, I may have gotten more likes in these past 2-3 days then I have in all of my time on SDN before. Holy notifications, batman.

Yeah, I took less than 0 offense to that, no flame war being started here 😛

If I'm wrong, then egg on my face. But in a game with very limited roles, I am of the mind to conserve every role was can unless that role is proven otherwise. Everyone else is fodder.

I actually find it easier to post more as a wolf than to post as a villager. Replying to strategy posts, guessing how things in the game works . . . you KNOW so much more as a wolf, and it's easy to speculate and engage in conversation when you already know what's going on behind the scenes.

When someone is constantly the one posting up-dated lynch tallies, tagging the write-ups and rosters, keeping lists of important messages, being super helpful - it tends to make the villagers see them as someone trustworthy. (In my mind, anyway)

Maybe. A lot of times that looks to me like someone trying to appear helpful without actually doing anything committed to one direction or the other.

Yes, which is why looking at higher post counts to base suspicions can make as much sense as looking at lower post counts.

Though neither is a fool proof method - I'm not advocating for lynching either end of the spectrum just based on that reason alone.

Yes. Exactly why I'm saying this strategy does not work.

You don't just look at post counts. I don't think anyone has suggested that. It is more a combination of post count along with post content/quality of post. I don't care if someone is the highest poster in the thread, if 98% of those posts are "fluff" I'm going to call them on it. Contrary to that if someone is hitting around 12ish posts per day but each post has quality and strategy to it, then I'm going to find them a bit less suspicious. And of course gray zones, there are always gray zones.

There were a few comments about post count, and I was just throwing out my opinion. My comment about not looking just at counts was more to cover my own butt - I didn't want to make it seem like I was advocating for that approach. I didn't mean to say that anyone else was.

Exactly. I think newer players tend to look at various strategies in isolation, decide it won't work 100%'of the time, and so it gets rejected. They always want certified gold intel. They want seer results. Etc.

It isn't about adopting one strategy. It's about weighing all the sketchy, imperfect, faulty data and making a best guess and then chasing down those suspicions.

Saying "can't use post count!" Is foolishly rejecting one potential piece of data that could be useful and sway your opinion slightly. Nothing wrong with that.

I think this game has already forced more introspection than some players have done in a long time. I expect typical play styles will likely shift some because of this as much as because of the post requirement. Reading people in comparison to past play will likely need to take this into account.

I'm also not so sure on STL (willing to give him benefit of the doubt for now), but I didn't really feel an RM lynch either (don't remember why that one started? not that it's much of a concern at this point)

Aren't we supposed to be arguing or something like that? 😉

As an aside, I wonder how many people still need to hit post count.

At a guess, I bet > 50% pr the players. But I think Dy made it clear she only is subbing out the very worst cases of lack of participation, not anyone who didn't meet the count. I got the impression it is tiered. And probably she is considering participation over multiple day cycles, too.

That said, I was curious too.

Another aside that I've been thinking about with all of these discussions about the posting requirement is that I think looking at posting times/frequency may be interesting. Obviously many players are limited in their posting times by work and other similar responsibilities, but I think it would be easy for wolves to post the majority of their posts during high traffic times on thread and effectively get their posts buried, as they would quickly end up several pages back on the conversation in a short period of time due to all of the player activity. While you can (and probably should) isolate and read through posts from a specific player on the thread, context is important and could easily be missed if someone were to post at a time when their stuff was likely to be buried in an onslaught of posts. This also means players that are suspicious of someone else have to put in more work to hunt down posts and quote them on thread, which could encourage some players to pass up on pursuing niggling suspicions of other players who aren't blatantly wolves, but said suspicions could lead to some productive investigating if pursued.

Posting during busy times also encourages players catching up on the thread to skim posts, which can be used strategically by wolves to not seem too suspicious if only because most players are only giving their posts a passing glance.

I'm really not feeling the STL lynch... I feel like lynching someone who has an ability would really start the game off on a bad foot. If he continues to say odd things then sure. Basically I would quote the paragraph LIS wrote on it, but I'm far too lazy to go back and find it

Just looking through my own posts on the thread and realized that if the first line of the post wasn't obviously pointing toward content, I wasn't counting it, and I wrote the darn things!
While they might show up on a computer screen differently, that alone will make me change posting style a little.

Let's have this one be a lesson genny, let's not try and pick apart people that have roles in a game where a lot of people supposedly don't have a role. When that's the case, the people that have roles tend to be important, go figure.

I am the alliance seer of the game. So thank you for making me come out on day one. Protector, assuming you exist, you know what to do... If I am still alive in 4 or 5 days, just lynch me (my character, since someone is taking over for me) as I am probably converted.

Why did you do that? I don't think you were forced to role reveal. We're still 12-ish hours from the end of lynch (right? deadline extended?), and no one was demanding a role reveal from you. We're just looking for a better option.

I'll second this. Unless you were going to bed/working there was plenty of time. And quite a few people were defending you

I have tests in the morning. And I was significantly in the lead, I knew I wasn't going to be online so this was my one time to do that.

I'm going to disagree. Deadline is 10AM ish eastern which is what 9 hours or 10 hours away. We are heading into overnight. I don't know about either of you but I definitely won't be awake at 4AM to discuss the game. By the time people get up in the morning, check in or get to a point where they can check in, it'll be last minute to reveal in the morning. Not to mention, those in west coast may still be sleeping at close.

Phew I finally was able to sit down and catch up on posts. My eyes are burning though. :\ Gotta get up early and do it all over tomorrow.

***unlynch STL, lynch LIS*** I guess

Fair enough; STL said he had tests tomorrow so that justified it pretty well.

Fair point.

Though, STL's post still struck me as strange. I didn't see any posts by Genny that would have prompted STL to call her out in his role reveal, as if she had backed him into a corner and that was the next logical response he could make.

Hmm does it count towards the 10 posts if you are compiling Wolfy information on yourself? 😉
What I don't understand is, why not vote for the person who has the next highest votes when it could potentially save you? That's exactly what RM did

You GUESS?

That is a lame vote. Not because it is for me, but because it essentially is a late "I don't want to be seen as voting for the seer, but I'm not going to vote for any of the people actually in the running."

It's a cop out vote, and therefore sketchy.

Although this was the same move STL pulled in one of the more recent speed games I read (and he was a wolf) , I really doubt he's making the same move again.

If no one else is up overnight, I'll be getting off work and can update the tally ~6am est
