Meant to comment on this earlier. Not that I don't think your idea about the above was an interesting point, I do, I just don't think that is the case in this game. And will have to agree with others who have also stated the same.

I feel like a "basics" game is akin to a speed game (just not as fast). And that roles aren't spread out randomly so that a wolf could end up with the protector ability. My own personal opinion. I think that if there is a protector out there (which I think there is), it is a villager.

These posts were something like 50 minutes apart. I don't know that it's fair to say that you waited for her to respond before you lynched her when the normal lynch deadline was still hours away. I can understand wanting to get a vote in before bed if you didn't think you'd be around for lynch end, but still, you switched a vote to someone who was very close to plurality when you had already said you thought she was just being an overzealous noob.

I can make excuses for someone all I want, but if they don't bother responding (especially after being tagged by multiple people multiple times, then they didn't take their chance to defend themselves

Are you kidding? I can't count how many times I've lied about something the mod told me. I mean, massaging my role description..... futzing with nighttime results I've gotten.....

Lying about what a mod told you is a part and parcel of this. A mod can't step in and confirm/deny anything like that.

For me, it isn't just that one post. It is the jumping back and forth a bit from sounding nooby/asking questions to not sounding nooby. Add that in with the "peer pressure" vote and I feel as if there is something more there than just "noob" posting.

I'd have to go back and check, but I just felt like something she said early on was sketchy. And her defense was essentially to misunderstand/misconstrue my point, which just made me feel better about the lynch.

But to be fair, at least 2+ people said that seems like her typical play style.

Her first post of the game was also sort of weird, where she asked for clarification on something the mod had clearly stated already. That gave me a few feels, but I almost always think she's wolfy, so I'm hesitant to read too much into her at the moment.
 
Before you get sucked into that black hole, read my posts over the next day and hopefully you will see the light.

You've all played enough games with me to know my style, and heck, comparisons to me have been used to show why someone thinks someone is wolfy and hesitant to lie versus noob villager.

Yeah, sorryz, but have to agree with LIS. It is difficult as is to keep up with tons of posts (not a complaint, just being honest), tossing in memes makes it harder, I'm glad there aren't as many.

Yeah. That was the whole "do gifs count as content" or something along those lines. I didn't at the time find that to be wolfy, but it's worth thinking about.

I felt like Guis seemed to be (loosely and between the lines and very much open to interpretation) speaking from the position of someone who has the ability to PM. Just the way it was worded. It struck me as super odd.

So if that's correct (Guis being able to PM), the rest follows naturally - there shouldn't be many people in the game that can PM other than wolves, ergo, Guis would be a wolf if my initial guess was right.

I don't for a second deny it's a stretch. But... stretches are what we get in a game like this.

Ah, I see, that makes more sense. Sorry, I'm falling asleep sitting up so brain isn't working so well...






Overall thoughts: I see the points being made about 1dog and I could entertain a 1dog lynch, but feeling she is more noob actually.
LIS' above point about guis is a good one and that might be my lynch vote for tomorrow.
For tonight, I have to stick with my initial vote of AB, gut is just telling me that is the way to go.

I don't really think the AB vote is a bad one, for the record. I'm on board with it. I almost switched to it, but.... since that brought grief on my head when I switched to... uh... AM or whoever... I decided to just stick with my vote.

I sorta started the 1dog thing, but I'm feeling it less now. 1dog's answers mostly felt right. Either smart wolfy responses or genuine. *shrug*

And obviously I'd still like to lynch LoTF, but I've given up on that. 🙂

Within the last page or 2, I think it was Jil and someone else both pulled up other people's quotes and said they could be doing the thing I did the one time I was a wolf, where rather than say "I am a villager" I found ways to skirt around it.

I had this whole post explaining my game play style.... there was like a whole page talking about how I have a stupid obvious tell... now people are using that tell to figure out noob versus noob wolf. I'm kinda all over this thread in this topic. Where have you been? :hello:
 
^not that I really feel concrete about that lynch. Every possible candidate seems to have a caveat for me right now (genuine noobness in this case?) but I'm already hovering on modkilled so I need to make a decision

Thing is ... that whole "see, I never tell a lie, and I'm telling you I'm a villager whereas when I was a wolf I didn't say that" thing just doesn't fly.

I mean, you've openly stated that's how you play. Which implies that for it to be completely true, you'd have to be too stupid to overcome it if you were a wolf. Which I don't think is the case.

Announcing that you have a "stupid obvious tell" (your words, not mine) and implying that you can't be a wolf because of the tell? C'mon... that's silly. Obviously if you were a wolf you'd stomp all over that tell.

Honestly, I have decided to completely ignore the well they didn't outright say "they are a villager".... who the hell cares? It means nothing in this game. It means nothing to repeat over and over you are a villager either. This is a game of lying, cheating, etc, etc.... that is how it works and I really don't think the above is good strategy for determining wolf from villager, personally.

So my current list reads:
1A. WZ due to sheltermed's posting mostly
1B. LIS mainly due to a couple of tiny things and the way I keep reading his first 2 days of posts as advice to wolves. It just doesn't sit well in my gut and obviously just a little for his wanting to lynch me (I will admit it)
1C. Guiz due to the PM thing. I hear that it might just be miscommunication but, maybe it was a slip up.

2. 1 dog and AB <3 -- I feel these guys are just nooby, but also some of the slip ups could be noob wolfy and odds do suggest that at least one of our super recent additions got handed a wolf role.

3. Teep and PBC -- minor feels

This is what I've got from reading through today. Did I miss something obvious?

In regards to my lynch vote, I'm keeping it where it is due to a gut feeling. In comparison to the other game I played with LIS, he is throwing accusations around more widespread and more dramatically in this one. That brings me back to my comment the first time I voted to lynch him because I thought what he was doing could serve as a distraction. I will admit in that case I was wrong but it is starting to look like a pattern now.
 
Adding on to my LIS statement - even if he is a villager, he would make a very good convert. Since I believe he could be converted and manage to keep it hidden successfully, I would rather take a chance and lose a villager, but take away a conversion target
 
I will also still stand by my thoughts that 1dog is moreso a new player than radiating wolfiness. If she/he turns out to be a wolf I would be surprised and impressed. At the moment I will assume innocence, but I will be keeping an eye on the posts for anything fishy just in case

Oh, those were two separate thoughts. There were a lot of gifs (from living players!) and a lot of joking around, and a lot of having fun, which was nice, but wow were some of us ( 😳 ) a little obnoxious. But skimming the thread made me miss MJ because that was one of the games where we chatted quite a bit and were actually on the same team.

Are you saying you think there's been a conversion already, or that you're lynching him preemptively because you think he might be converted later?
 
In regards to the lotf tell thing - while I'm not getting wolfy feels from her right now (or rather, no more than the usual), it makes absolutely no sense to evaluate a player's meta game based on their own assertions about it. The whole point of meta analysis is that it is based on subconscious play style differences, not things that the player can point out themselves and therefore very, very easily change. And an attempt by a player to use their own meta in that way to prove villagerness will always be sketchy to me.

Everyone uses "if I were a wolf I wouldn't be dumb enough to ---" or "I would have done --- to make myself look better" and statements like that, wolves and villagers alike. But it's different to point to a particular quirk and say you only do it as a villager, and use that as a defense. And if you are using a tell to soft clear someone, you are making the assumption that they aren't aware of that tell.

I don't really feel LIS as a wolf. He might be being more boisterous than hes been lately, but that's part of this game. We've all got to talk more and be better at communicating. Part of that is having gut feelings, expressing them, and seeing if anyone else is either feeling the same way or can find some logic/reason in what's being said.
If enough crap gets thrown at the wall, something is eventually going to stick.


(Not saying your ideas are all crap LIS 🙂)
