Background check... they want me to pay for it?

So apparently one of the many schools I applied to requested a background check through this service. It won't tell me which school requested it, or do they all participate in this? Does anyone else have experience with "Certiphi Screening Incorporated". They want me to pay $150 to do this. Is it okay to call the schools I have been accepted to to see if they require this?

"As you were notified in the 2014 ADEA AADSAS application, you have applied to at least one school that is participating in an ADEA-facilitated national background check service, through which Certiphi Screening, Inc. (a Vertical Screen® Company) will procure for participating schools a national background report on applicants at the point of initial, conditional acceptance. One of the participating schools has requested that a national background report be procured on you."

Yeah, you're required to do it if you want to end up going to that school. The good news is in a lot of cases they don't take the full $150. For example, I was only charged $60 and when I called Certiphi to ask how it worked, they said that the $150 is the most they can charge. So initially they will reserve $150 on your credit card but it usually ends up being less, depending on how much background history they do on you.

Mine costed like $68 dollars.

MOST schools require it. Just check the list to make sure!

I paid $32, it's pretty cheap compared to how much you'll be paying the next few years, lol

Just wait till the dental kits, rent, necessities u gotta buy before u get ur loan money. Save some of that Christmas money cause them kits are $$$$$$$$!

If you read the email better and go to the website that Certiphi uses or whatever it gives you a list of all the schools who participate in the background check..
