I have been getting B's & C's on my prerequisites, and I only have a few A's. I am applying for pharmacy school next year, does anybody know if they will accept me even though my GPA is not that high, like a 3.1?

Well its hard to say. Any extra curriculars, how your PCAT scores are, which school(s) you are applying to. In general, I will say if you are not picky then probably yeah you will get into a pharmacy school. If you are more picky and want to get into a 'better' pharmacy school, then it depends how good you are in the other areas to make up for the GPA. Also keep in mind some schools may require a math/sci GPA calculation too and not just an Overall (don't know if you included that)

Yes - people have gotten in with lesser GPAs... you should do a search for low GPA...

I have a similar Dilemma I have a 3.1 Pre Pharm pre requisite and 2.5 undergrad GPA. How much do pharm schools consider undergrad GPA?? I have a Pcat score of 83.

PS THose Chem class were brutal after Orgo

Well, unless you apply to a non-PharmCAS school, they'll see every class you've ever taken in your college career amalgamated and collated into one large pool of GPAs, all culminating in the dreaded PharmCAS cum. GPA, which is what most schools are looking at. Some schools want X GPA for your pre-pharmacy classes only, though, so restrictions can and do apply.

In the end it's best to confer directly with your school(s) of choice. And congrats. on your PCAT score. Obviously you've turned yourself around since your UG.

There are people who got in with 3.0. I have known there are a few people who got in with sub 3.0. However, I believe that they tried very hard to improve their application beside GPA. I have to say that your GPA is low, but it is not impossible to get in. You might have to apply to private school and do some volunteer work. You might even have a strong communication skill as well as sufficient knowledge of profession.

1) There's a thread exclusively for questions like this. It's on the top. Always. Forever. Start there.

2) We don't know enough to answer that question. Do you have pharmacy experience, extracurriculars, unusual life history? Will you have a bachelor's degree or not? Will you take/have you taken the PCAT? It's not a simple GPA equation.

if you have had difficult courses and heavy course loads and got a low GPA from that, then you might be ok if your grades in your most important pre-requisites are fine. also, if you're from a difficult school, they understand that too. but if not, then it might be difficult.

I had GPA of 2.6 last quarter since I overloaded myself with 5 chem classes so my GPA dropped from 3.33 to 3.23...I am wondering if this would have a big negative effect on my applications. Also should I even bother to apply to UCSF or UCSD with my GPA...I only have like minimum of volunteering experience ~40 hours and not too much extracurricular...

You might as well apply... You might get an interview invite and an opportunity to dazzle them. Ultimately it'll come down what your PharmCAS GPA looks like. Is there any time left in your UG to get a research slot in a lab, any lab?
