Not long ago, I began a thread on here entitled: 'Any other puckheads here?'

We had fun with it. Same gig, different topic.

Any other baseball junkies here ? Declare your loyalties and those who you hate. I'll save mine for when we get cookin'.

I'll start us off by saying this: I ponied up the 120 bucks for MLB.TV for the season. Best move, ever. Ever. Every shift I get to work and "listen to/watch" some good game somewhere.

Also, had the day off today. Hit the batting cages up the street from my place. Hearing the sweet "ping!" of a composite ball off of an aluminum bat made me feel alive again. Had the fortunate experience of having the "kid" who works there come up to me and say: "Hey, you're far too ahead of these pitches; let me speed it up for yah." Granted, I wasn't hitting standup doubles or anything, but maaaan, what fun.

Pittsburgh Pirates fan here. Spent my childhood sitting on my grandparents porch listening to the games on KDKA radio. Shelled out for MLB TV and radio this year for when I am not at home. Thinking the club has a reasonable chance to finish over .500 this year if we can keep the bullpen from getting overworked.

The only teams I really dislike are the Nationals and the Yankees.

Diehard Reds fan. As long as we stay healthy we have the pitching to go the distance. Just need the clutch hitting to be more consistent.

Also a die hard Pirate fan. Hopefully we will have our first winning season since I was 2 years old this year. Raise it!

Never expected to see ONE other Pirates fan, let alone two. 🙂

I can still hear the jingle - "K-D-K-A, Tee-Vee twwoooOOOO!"

How 'bout those ducks in the outfield ?

Those ducks were undrafted free agents that Huntingdon signed to distract opposing teams.

Cardinals fan since 1985. A general embarrassment of riches.

Had gameday audio as a poor student; spent many years listening to KMOX with Mike Shannon while studying in medical school, residency, etc.

Have had MLBtv ever since, dollar for dollar, cheapest entertainment per hour I've ever purchased. Garcia v. Strasburg right now!

Mets loyalist here. Not expecting a championship season, but would love to be in the wildcard hunt in September. The mets have many needs (number 3 and 5 starter, oufield, bullpen), but Sandy Alderson has the team in the right direction.

With zack wheeler and dourno (if he can stay healthy) and a couppe of other prospects on the horizon, tons of money coming of the books at seasons end, already good frontline starters (Harvey and Niese), I think the Mets will make a lot of noise next season. But I do love the fact that they are competitive at this point in the season (I know, it's early).

I'm watching Garcia v. Strasburg now. 🙂

Dad married a girl from St. Louis - so the redbirds are my "second-favorite" in the division. If the Pirates fail to achieve relevance (which, well.... is every year for the past 19), then I switch to a redbirds fan.

Diehard Cards fan as well. I even worked briefly as a med student with one of Musials son-in-laws (cardiologist). Our starting pitching has been phenomenal thus far.

Huge Red Sox fan...remember my Mom letting me stay home from school to watch the '78 playoff w/ the Yanks. Cried a little when Yaz popped out (hey, I was only six).

Good to see a baseball thread, loved reading the puckhead thread. Gonna be a great season. Good to see the Bucs and Royals return to respectability. Baseball is a lot better with some parity, even if I am a big market team fan.

GO SOX!!

PS Did anyone see Jean Segura steal second base, then get caught stealing second base two hitters later? One of the weirder plays ever...must be tough to be a Milwaukee fan...except for Bob Ueker, who is fantastic.

Bravos baby! Born and raised fan from grandparents down the line.
Been a *relatively* tough last decade considering what I'm used to but old Frankie Wren has finally got things cooking this year....Bash bros. (whoever okay'd that Upton deal in Arizona must be wiping down the seats at games now), pitching staff looking good, Uggla actually swinging the bat, Freeman coming into his own, and we don't even have McCann back yet!

As a Pirates fan I am sworn to a lifelong dislike of the Braves. Blame it on Sid Bream and then the 19 inning game two years ago with Jerry Meal making a terrible call and Julio Lugo acting like a douche in the interview after the play. I just have an acquired distaste for the Braves. However, fans are almost always a class act.

P.S. Taking 3 out of 4 from the Braves last weekend was a great feeling.

Sid Bream's brother used to live next to me and was a real nice guy, but I could never look at him the same once I knew who he was.

I have this same disease. That "A" on the hat is just... poison to me.

Grew up in the east bay so of course I am a die hard Oakland A's fan.
However I do have a soft spot for Pitt teams. Raised by my grandparents who are from Pitt. My childhood house was filled with Pirates and Steelers memorabilia. So you are not alone RustedFox.

Ugh. The only thing that got me through that awful series was the fact that we had just swept the Nationals. Bryce Harper has forced me to transfer all the hatred I had previously reserved for the Mets, Cardinals, and Phillies. Ah who am I kidding...there's always some left in the tank for the Phillies.

Have been a loyal Mariner's fan since my hand was large enough to grasp a baseball. Watched Ken Griffey Jr from year 1 (1989) to his departure, and then again for a fun couple years for his homecoming and retirement back in Seattle. Getting tingles just thinking about our historic 1995 season (Griffey, Randy Johnson, A-Rod, Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez...)

Dad from Chicago, so have a tinge of Cubs blood in me. Enjoyed going to Nats games while in DC for med school. Of course Harper and Strasburg got hot and began to do well as soon as I left.

Now in Northern California. Cannot EVER be an Oakland fan, but have started to get into the Giants. Kind of upset they won it all last year, because it feels more of a bandwagon move on my part, but what can I do.

Several of us residents went out recently to a local ballfield and took BP. Putting a couple of shots off the left field fence (325ft) was very fulfilling. I've got to find a cage to go to!

I grew up in new england and am a red sox fan, but now living in Chicago. I can't tell you how great it is if you're a general baseball fan who likes going to games being in chicago right now....The cubs and the white sox are both terrible and tickets to game can be had for $5-$10 in the middle of the week and you can EASILY move down to great seats. I just organized a group of 10 of us to go to a Cubs game next week...10 tickets, all in the same section for $60 with all the fees. The beers at the game cost more.

I'm also a huge fan of the MLB phone app, didn't pay for the MLB TV, but for $20 for the whole year I bought the radioprogram, a nice option if you don't feel like $25 a month for the TV...listening to games is great when you're sitting at home, cooking dinner, driving to and from work and it's the same radio broadcast from home!

Pittsburgh Pirates... first place in NL Central with a 9-0 win over the Cardinals yesterday.

#BUC'N.

It was nice while it lasted but right now they are getting pummeled by the Brewers. Of course, this is nothing new.

8 straight wins against the Nationals + watching Strasburg pout in the dugout = quality night of baseball.

I watch the cards a lot, too. Busch stadium is... (whoa) big. Was there for my first time last month. Huuuge.

My A's are kicking this year!!
😍
They typically perform as well if not better than the yankees for about 1/4 the payroll 😀

Phillies fan here. Sadly, I feel the era of Phils domination of the NL East is coming to a close. "A"nd even worse, I forsee a return to the dark ages when the "A" reigned supreme for like 10 years or something...

Sad...

S/p 14-2 loss at the hands of the Marlins, I'm now hating on that stupid "M" also.
