I tried looking for the info on their website but only found info re: tuition. It's pretty much the same between the two (~$22K-$23K). It's pretty damn cheap to say the least, but I was wondering if anyone going to these schools or who live in Dallas or Houston could give me an estimate as to the living expenses?

Yes tuition at the two schools are pretty similiar because they are both state schools. Living in Dallas can be pretty expensive (900/1 bedroom) if you live near the school which is downtown or it can be cheap (600/1 bedroom) if you move farther out although traffic can be horrible. Hope this helps.

Wow, that's still pretty good - at 900/month that's about $10K per year. That would bring the cost up to $32K. Add on food and the other fees and books, etc at most it would go to $50K...probably even less right?

For UTDB in Houston, those are around the costs for the first 2 years only. They have incorporated the cost of the dental kits you purchase at the beginning of each year. These kits are full of the expensive expenable supplies you will use during the first 2+ years. After that, you buy very few things as your supplies are paid by the patients when you do some of their lab work. So, you can take off around $5,000 per year off the price you quoted for years 3 and 4.

As far as housing goes, it varies a lot. There are a ton of apartment complexes within a couple miles of the medical center. Student housing ranges from $500 for a 1/1 to $970 for a 2/2. In town, you can find apartments for in the $500's for a 1/1 or studio at the cheaper apartment complexes. or you can spend over $2000 a month at a nice complex for a 3/2. Right now, I live in a 2/2.5. Without the discount I got during a promo period, I would have paid $1,950/mo for it. Point is, you can pay a little or a lot for an apartment. You can find a broad spectrum of price ranges. How much you spend just depends on how much you are willing to spend and whether you get a roommate or not.

Much less.

Thanks guys, now I just to find out if they take Canadians and I'm good to go.

OK, Canadian resident - that is a different story. I just assummed you were a Texan since only mentioning those two schools. Tuition is ~22,000/year plus fess, rentals, books, supplies and supplies. Closer to $35,000/year total plus living expenses for out of state and foreign (if even possible).

Out of state residents have a very hard time getting here.

Yea, it'll be tough - I just found out they take ~8 OOS out of around 500 OOS applicants. Somewhere in there, could be a Canadian although looking through their class profile, they don't seem to have ANY Canadians.

They do accept Canadians and the Canadian DAT though....

edit: Oh, I may as well ask, is UT-Houston a good school? What are the good and the bad?

i guess this is true...but only if you put absolutely no effort into looking for a place to stay. i live 5 miles from school and share a huge 2 bedroom apt w/ a friend from college...i pay about $450/month for rent & utilities (and i live in university park which is super nice).

if you are really strapped for cash you can live at the nursing dorms at baylor. dont know the exact numbers, but i do know its a good deal if you dont mind living the college dorm life again.
