I thought since finals are around the corner for many of us. (Mine start in a week, yikes!) Maybe we could all take a few minutes to post some positive affirmations/inspiration to get us through the craziness?
Something I was writing to motivate myself to be positive through the whole time:
Take confidence in your preparations, not just the result. Dont wait until you have the results you want to develop the confidence you need, because life does not work that way. You need confidence in yourself to get through the hard times, and there will be plenty of hard times. Vince Lombardi says Winning isnt everything, but the will to win is. You must have confidence in what you do in order to win; because it is a grueling race, and only those who have the confidence and the determination will win when the finish line draws near and youre exhausted, sore, and the finish is both the closest its even been and just barely out of reach.
1. You have to stop negative thoughts, they are more damaging than you can probably even perceive, and negative thoughts are not conducive to developing the self-confidence you need. You would never let other people say negative things about you, so dont do it to yourself.
2. Stop comparing yourself to others. Your standards of success should come from within. There will always be someone better than you and there will always be someone worse than you. Do not settle for what gets by and do not gauge your performance off of others; it will lead to disappointment and frustration. Instead, compare your performance to past performances: was it better? worse? the same?
3. If you are confident in your abilities, the results should not matter. If you feel like you did the best you could, then you have succeeded. If you do not get the results you want, try again.
4. Do not be afraid to ask for help. It is not a sign of weakness. It is not admitting that you are a failure. Asking for help is a smart thing to do. Ask someone you trust. Every elite athlete has a coach for a reason. Every student has a teacher for a reason.
Good luck on finals everyone!!
