dont mind the spellings.. i am typing as fast as i can so i cant help the spellings not a comp engineer 😉
hi guys,
i know you all have been waiting to know what happened at the meeting: well firstly although it started at 11 they didnt get to rt until 2 and it got over at 4 and then by the time we got home it was late.. so sorry to kep u'll waiting. there were quite a few of us there and well there is lots to tell. so here i go:
firstly the new board members are excellent kudos to them.. they are open minded they listen to you and answer you and are considerste.. they were very nice friendly and positive people, one of them himself is a dentist who gave his rt exam many years ago,so he understands our situation. and they were open to a lot of suggestions so going for these meetings really helps.. so if u can u must go for the meetings in future coz these people actually listen to you. well now how much of what they promised they will stick to i dont know.. but atleast they heard us and it looked positive so i have a good feeling about them, that they will definetly make things more clear in the future.
secondly dr stevenson(from ucla ) was there and rt students should thnak him coz he made some real good points and the board members understood them.
ok the best news is NO COMPOSITE TEETH. YES U READ CORRECT.. NO SPENDING$8 PER TOOTH. board members understood that they are not good on our pocket and dr stevenson pointed out to them the bigger problemthat since the enamel and dentin are glued, sometimes the enamel just fracture's
away or in b/w the 2 layers their may be a big void...so at the end of a beautiful prep u may fail coz of some manufacturing defect... the board members realized that and so now we don't have composite teeth.
next question will be which typodont can we use? ans to that is.. u could use any.. go to the clinical licensure booklet pg 13 it has list of 5 typodont's.. u are free to use any of them.. so that's columbia or kilgore.. and you could use the same one's for clinical.
next ques which teeth? ans is the same 10 teeth so just those same 10 teeth(3,4,5,6,8,9,10,19,20,30) just reconfirm them from the dbc website.
also we asked them if its true that more people with kilgore have failed? and ans to that was that they didnt see much difference in the type of typodont lots of people with kilgore have failed and lots with columbia have failed too. the basic thing is use what you are comfortable with and what u have practised on so far.
now also for the pass % usc had a 36% and uop had a 47% so atleast for the april exam more from uop passed. now please if you do get scheduled for rt in usc don't go with a negative attitude.. i am just giving numbers of the board.. to let u all know... but people in usc do pass... 36% is pretty good as compared to the low rate in the nov 2005 exam.. that was the lowest rate ever in a rt exam!!!
ok now i will continue below in next post...
