Hi.
I need a manikin for bench exam preparation. Is there anybody here who has a manikin for sale??? even if u only have the rod, I'm actually more interested in the rod .
Please pm me if you do.

Thanks!

Since a number of people sent me private messages asking me the above, I figure I might as well post my understanding.

Critique:
You can just send them a cover letter giving your information and ask them for a critique. They will then send you the grading comments on the failing parts only. Someone at the DB meeting asked why they won't send you the critique on the passing sections too and their answer was "it has always been that way." Not a good (and even logical) answer but they make the rules. It is good to get critique on all sections, to understand how to do better, and hopefully to pull up the overall score to a passing grade. But it is not meant to be 🙁

Appeal:
You can appeal now, or you can get the critique first and have 60 days to appeal later. Doing the latter gives you more ammunication. You need to write a cover letter with all your details (date of exam, name, reference number, address etc.) and a second page with NO personal information. On that second page you can state the reasons for your appeal. Basically there are only three things you can appeal on. And NO ..... that you (and the rest of the world) do not agree with the grade is NOT one of them. Off my head the three reasons are roughly
- misconduct
- discrimination
- disadvantaged

The appeal process
- the full board will get together to decide your appeal
- they will NOT regrade. Forget about it. They won't and can't do it, with the teeth dismounted and the typodonts returned.
- the best hope is there are severe discrepancies between how the two graders (or three) differ in grading your assignments.
- something happened during the exam that you felt was outside of your control and have a negative outcome on your work - equipment failures (theirs, not yours), misconduct of examiners, discrimination, or somehow you were disadvantaged.

What a successful appeal means:
- A free pass to the next exam. No ... they will not give you a passing grade. You save a few hundreds, guarantee you will be on the next exam and one extra attempt. That's it.

Any successful cases?
Was told there were two successful appeals last December.

Hi Mirka...... I took the CA exam last march....taking classes really help you out in preparing for the exam, not only for the information you get from the class but meeting people, making friends with your classmates will help you in getting more informations theoritically and patient wise.......selection of patient is very critical, a lot of things to consider. Your classmates can help you on the exam if your patient get crazy, get accident, and etc...with their back-ups....everybody got back-ups but expect for the unexpected incidence, be prepared and be ready.

GOOD LUCK 🙂

Hi everyone ...If you are interested I have student compresor (dental air silent) and also have the manequim and rod included...and a bunch other stuff for sale....my e-mail :[email protected]

this is for everyone who passed or didn't pass. i have tried both Duggan and Stevenson and i found out that Mr Duggan( i can't call him Dr) is the worst of human greedness and un-professionalism. the list goes byeond this page. Money transformed these people to beasts where they hit you in the eye and tell you i am taking care of you. don't even try to send an email to ask for any help( if your credit card number is not attached to it ,no one will even will look at it). if you have to go to his course just be careful not to post anything in here against him because he will retaliat. He even obtained my ID from this website and send me a mild letter asking if i have anything to say. i am sure he will read this post and Mr Duggan please have some respect to your PHD degree. having a moral princibles are something totally different than hiding behind layers of deciet. ..OH, His top assistant Ores, Ores thinks that he found the recipe for success through his mentor Duggan. Ores will do anything for money( great follower). i had to pay him 150$ for equilibration that he didn't even bother to close the space between teeth and when i asked him to do so. his response was( THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO AND KILGORE TEETH ARE HARD TO ADJUST THEM :scared: ). at that time, two days before the exam, i didn't feel arguing and he took full advantage of the situation. these people are sending the worst message to a struggling people who are trying to make it in this great land.
Finally, fellow students, if you have no chioce but going to his unhelpful courses try to question him all the time and when he jumb his material prices, tell him straight in the face instead of wyning later on. Don't be afraid if your Language is not good enough because he is the one who takes advantage of it.
god bless and good luck

HI LUC33...what I can say is that there is no free ride in this country, every thing cost money.....I thank this people (Stevenson,Duggan, De Leon, Orest, Maung Maung) because they exist, without them we(foreign- grad.) will be having a hard time to get our license in this Country, no body will teach us and guide us, of course we have to work hard and pay them for their time....They are just humans and each has their own personality and attitudes....what is important their sharing what they know and learn to help us success in our endevours. Going to school cost a lot of money, if dental education in your country is free..IT'S NOT IN AMERICA, you need $$$$$$$$$$$......THIS IS AMERICA AND WELCOME .

TO EVERYBODY.......

If you pass the exam. Congratulations you reaped what you work hard for..
If you flunk ...don't blame anybody...it's like
going to school and if you flunk the licensure exams, you won't blame your
school right??? as the saying says: try and try until you succeed ;
NO GAINS WITHOUT PAINS

GOOD LUCK 🙂

You have to fill up the form from the WREB if you plan to take wreb. For the CA Boards you have to fill up the form for eligibility and send it to the CA board, then CA board will send a letter of eligiblity to the WREB so the WREB will allow you to take the exam....You can just send your application to the WREB and they will process it once they get the letter from the CA BOard.

GOOD LUCK 🙂

I have some material for sale . I have composite and amalgum instrument set .

PM me if anyone interested .

Hello all,
How about starting a new thread for information on California Licensure/WREB and limiting this thread for RT Exam information only? It will make it easier for people to get information related to a subject a lot faster this way. Thanks

i sent the re-examination application, which i had received with my scores. and along with that i sent the 2 yellow cards. and a letter stating that i am still interested in taking the rt exam.and i put my refernce no on every thing. i did not have to send any money orders(those of you who did send any money orders will get them back) and no original or photocopy of any other document is required. they have all the info, they just want to know if u are still intersted in taking the exam.. and by reapplying you show that you are.

hi
in the re-examination application no 11 says about dental license (issued in any country)and they want us to submit certification of license. does it mean we have to send our certificate of registration (original or photocopy) please clarify

hi
i have kilgore typhodont for sale and manikin aluminium head and mask

Good point, shelly78. It is a bit annoying to click on the highlighted 'bench exam' thread only to find out that the messages have nothing to do with it.

One more thing, my colleagues, "amalgam" isn't spelled A-M-A-L-G-U-M. 👎 I learned that in dental school.

Cheers.

I totally agree with you guys, but choices give us the opportunity to recognize the bad apple from the good once. It is our responsibility to tell the new comers where to look. I wish I had someone to guide me before I went in my classes. My point is not to express frustration from any kind. I am happy with my results. I understand that nothing free, but The Huge difference between Dr Stevenson and duggan is more of an ethical one. We are all Doctors even if some of us not recognized by the system here, and being a doctor holds some moral responsibility. Duggan and his gang have no base for that. They are reaping off like wolves in a jungle. This is a business model controlled by an extremely bad immoral sales people. On the other hand, Dr Stevenson treat the same issue with totally different approach.
They both make money, but the trust factor is the difference.

Hi,
Does anybody know how to check out the kilgore products online? I've been trying to do that but every time they ask me for a user name and password?! 😕
The only website I know for kilgore is www.kilgoreinternational.com
Is there any other website that would allow me to see their products?

Thanks!!

Hey, Chio:

Have you tried driving a Dycal applicator between teeth? It will give about .75 mm of clearance to avoid nicking the adjacent. I don't know if you can do it now for the bench mounted on the mannequin. Maybe you can fabricate a really large wooden wedge and use that instead of the Dycal applicator, so as not to be too obvious. Anybody done this in the last exams?

If you insist on a Ferrier separator, I think I might know someone who might sell hers. She never used it.

hi,
i passed RT last april (USC). i did use a wooden wedge to seperate teeth & avoid nicking, i think it almost worked.
i agree with ivorine dust, the other option is to use a stainles steel instrument with pointed edge, like the other end of hollenback carver to seperate the teeth. only thing is in the exam its too obvious.
however the woodenwedge works fine.

thank you

Did anyone who gave RT exam in uop get their typhodents back? Does anybody have any idea when are they going to send our typhodents back..

Hello:

I just found a box of Rotapoint Dental Picks from a Rotadent toothbrush kit. Tried to push one pick through the embrasures of posterior typodont teeth and got a little over 0.5 clearance. The good thing about it is that the material is made of plastic(wont split or splinter) and is anatomically correct and smooth( won't hurt the "gingivae"). The business end of the pick is flexible and can be easily inserted. You can push till the handle part to separate the teeth. This could work. Will try prepping a CL II amalgam today with it and see what happens.

hi, i took the bench last april and i will never advise you guys to use tooth separator because of one impotant reason... ivorine teeth are so fragile and you don't want to fracture it during the exam. might as well use some plastic wedge THE WAND. it really worked for me without worrying of separating the teeth permanently. hope this help!

From Garrison dental the company that sells the composi tight sectional matrix system, plastic wedges are available in different sizes and they are color coded. These work quite well for tooth seperation and if used gently they dont damage the gingiva
