yes you bevel the gingival floor...after bevel you should have a clearence of 0.4-0.5mm
proximal clearence of 0.2-0.4mm is good

Thank you! What technique are you using - Stevensons or duggans?

Hey people.
Question: Do they allow us to bring opposing moldes from home?

Good luck for all of you taking the exam this weekend. It is going to be just fine. 😉 :luck:

what were the assignments given in the UOP exam?

at least for the first day was the same what was in UCLA.
faculties where very picky - you could not move manikin head left and right, etc. For some reason 2 guys where dismissed from exam. so, lets see.
best :luck: to everybody

That was a very good idea. In this order we are able to know the % of the boards passing. By the way , good luck to you and all who took the exam.

hi all,
i just started practising for the new bench syllabus, and i am finding the manikin very tough.its as if i have never cut those preps before. i find it difficult to even draw the flare line... its very depressing... the anterior preps are still ok, but for the posteriors i overtaper the lingual wall, the grooves look like big holes... and the angulations are so tough to understand.. i know many of you have been working on the new syllabus for atleast 3-4 months now, so do any of you have any tips for the manikin postioning and the indirect vision, and which teeth should be directly viewed, i read on this post that 2 people were dismissed from the exam, could it be because of bending and directly viewing teeth... any tips will be helpful...because as of now i feel like i know nothing...i have worked on patients before, somehow the manikin seems tougher or may be its been a long time... i thought the earliar exam was easier and i got 74% and i think this one's tough i'll probably get a 47%(that's when i get my chance). sorry to sound like a cry baby, but i am totally fed up... i hate the manikin. anyways all those of you who are late risers like me, i think if u havnt started practising.. its time to start, becuase its tough to use indirect vision..people please be nice and post some tips for indirect vision... thanks....also do dr duggans dvd's give any information on positioning and indirect vision? i heard dr thaw is very good with that, he tells you how to look and which position is better etc...

hi,
has anybody who gave thier exams in USC received their results ?? r even heard anything ??? also anybody from UOP got thier typo back yet ?

hi all
people who took the bench at usc will have to wait for 2 more weeks for thier result. it seems that our result is still not ready to go out. i know this cause i had called the board office and some lady in the exam dept ans the phone and told me this .
actully i am confused s when i spoke to dawn before the UOP exam she told me that the result was ready within 10 days everyone shold get it .
so guys the only option i see here is wait and watch .

hi! i am waiting for results. my advise is that you just keep practicing and practicing and start right NOW not tomorrow. i know its very very frustrating but you will get there. BE PATIENT IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME ...do the upper with indirect vision... and lower with indirect and direct combination. the indirect on the upper is difficult at first but its best if you want a fast and consistent finish on your preps

hey thanks,
nice of you to reply, and thanks for the input and advice,i appreciate it. good luck with your results... the clinical exam results are out so i guess next will be the usc bench exam results... good luck to all..

There has been a computer problem @ DBC in Sacramento. Several clinical exam candidates both in Northern and Southern California have not yet received their results up to now. Hopefully, this does not affect the RT (Bench) candidates.

Hi everybody, i don't know if you kew that the Dental Board is acepting applications for the RT exam for the the next two years, here is it:

http://www.dbc.ca.gov/pdf/filing_applications_2006_to_2008.pdf

I just see it today, so I think you can start sending your applications, and you have until 5:00 pm September 05 of this year to apply for all the possibles exam dates in the following 2 year, until 31 december 2008.
They are clear about the way that they are gonna select the candidates, is gonna be upon the Date you took the NDBE II.

Good look for everybody and let see when the results from the April exam are coming, hope soon!!!!

thanks vickdent for letting us know... so it basically means those of us didnt clear the rt exam and want to retake it,and those who might have withdrawn their applications for what ever reason, should now send their application?

can anyone tell me the measurements for full porcelain crown? thanks

also wanted to add, i spoke to someone at dbc,and she said that the additional exam which they have planned this year will mostly be held in oct or later.... i asked her specifically if there is a chance of it being held in august and she said no...

Hi,

I just called the dbc y'day and somebody told me the results have not yet been sent out. She said the board has 2 more weeks to do it (as they have said in their website that results would be sent out between 30-45 days from the last day of examination).

Has anybody else really got it?

Thanks,
Sum

I'm looking for rubber cheeks for the columbia manikin for the CA bench exam. Can someone suggest a good source to get these at a reasonable price? Thanks.

i have a feeling that its something more than computers problem thats keeping dbc from sending our results out. may be they were mixed up?

Hai,
I am planning to join the advanced placement program in NYU , so will be graduating in 2009. could anybody tell me the procedures to write my Licensing board exam in california to practice after my studies in Nyu. will CA give preferences to students graduating from CA Dental schools in applying for the exam? or can I take the exam in CA even if I graduate from NYU.PLZ help.

Hi,
Yes, I called them last week, and they said nobody was available from the exam unit, and that everybody would be back only by thursday which is tomorrow.

I also asked her (Donna) about the computer problem and if the results were delayed due to the same, she said she was not aware of any computer problem that happened over the last few weeks.

Wonder what they are upto.

Everytime you call them they say the results would be sent out within 30-45 days, I reminded them that today was the 45th day!!! she didnt have anything to say!

Lets wait and watch

Hi! I would like to sell my rubber cheeks at a discounted price. It is brand new and never been use. The reason is that my friend let me borrow hers, but I already placed my order and was mailed to me. I don't have any use of it, I just want to dispose it so I can use the money for some other materials that we need to buy. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Futurdentist,
Better check with the Board .As far as I know most of us who took the USC RT received the typodonts even before the UOP RT was conducted. The Uop guys however have not yet received their typodonts.
