Hi everyone,

I will be interviewing at Mt Sinai in early April.

Although the interview invite was really encouraging and welcoming, it didn't really give much info about accomodations in NYC.

It looks like I may need to stay in NYC for a few days b-cuz my interview is in the middle of the week and its much cheaper to fly over a Saturday.

I was thinking for staying with a student for one night. But what about the other 3 nights?

Any advice welcome!

Why don't you take the train. Although it takes much longer time to get to NYC it is way cheaper than flying. plus this way you can get there closer to the interview date in order to save hotel money.

I'll look into that. I am not sure of train service from Toronto-NYC. I know it's definitely a 10hr bus ride.

Does anyone know of any affordable hotels in the the Mt Sinai area?

The train to NYC takes about 9-10hr but it is much more comfortable than taking a bus. The seats are bigger and reclinable. I take it frecuently to visit my uncle in toronto.

Ok, I am going to be honest with you. in manhattan nothing is cheap. However if money is not a big problem Sinai recommends a hotel near the hospital that goes for about $100 a night. Check Sinai's brochure for the telephone and address.

Do you have friends in NYC that you could stay in??

perhaps you could arrange to stay with a student host. their apt. complex is a block away from the school.

i just shacked up with an old college buddy. 🙂

Hi veggiegirl --- the MSTP students were put up at the Hotel Belleclaire -- on the corner of Broadway and 77th on the upper west side. From there you can get a cab to the Hospital which is on 100th and Madison (on the upper east side) for about 10 bucks.
