Hi I'm currently a sophomore in college. I was planning on seeking pharmacy school admission for the Fall 2017 class. Is it true that we have to take the PCAT exam before October 2016 to be considered a part of the 2017 application cycle? I was planning on taking it in July 2016 but I realized I wouldn't be ready by then because I don't start Orgo 2 until Fall 2016? How difficult is it to study Orgo 2 for the PCATs? I found Orgo a bit difficult at first which is why I'm taking it off season. I know the deadlines to take the PCATs depends on the school. But when do most schools prefer you to take the PCAT by?

NO NEED ORG2

take July Sept. Later accumulates older tests = harder
earlier easier

schools accept pcat till Jan.

I haven't taken Bio 1 & 2 yet so should I wait til September to take it? I'm taking Bio 1 & 2 over the summer...

Bio class = 1abcdef 2abced 3abcd 4abcd 5abcde 6abcde 7 abc 8abc 9abc
pcat bio= 1ab 2 a 3c 4d 5e 6 7a 8b 9a
but pcat test day only test - 1abc 2 a 3b 9a , get it?

Bio classes too much info. Pcat less info but u still learn all important subject headings, just not as in depth in bio classes.

prepping for pcat helped me get 84 on cell bio test without me even studying cell bio. pcat covers the basics u need know. bio class go voer basics but not in depth so u dont even know what heck u study because they spill out so much info u cant digest, do i need know this? what i need know? whats main point? supporting point? what main supporting details? Bio pcat helps u know the important stuff then u dont go in depth until u do bio.

i suggest do pcat bio first. BUT u need resiliency, bio class gave u endurance to tackle hard subjects, but learning pcat bio by yrself is like, this is too much, this is hard. just know, pcat bio and bio class are equivalent tough, but bio class has too much jargon, learning this pcat bio help me know main points i will later cover in bio class, genetics.

a skill u need. Is connect dots. bio class jsut spills out dots but teachers dont know how help u connect dots. u learn this yrself while doing pcat. thus u retain and know what yr studying rather than putting into the grinder.

PCAT is just easier cause u know less stuff and u can focus on it. class bio = too much fluff, hard distinguish and focus.

simple->difficult = pcat
bio class -difficult all at once

Pcat bio only cover minor broad sections of biology. You won't see special biology topics like you see all the time in biology class. However it is good to take biology 1 and 2 first and chemistry up to organic because you never know what will pop up on pcat. Also you will be able to see the full picture instead of jumping around on the pcat bio. For example kaplan pcat bio section don't even talk about the central dogma of dna replication.translation and transcription. As a bio major or anyone commi ng out of biology class. You should know that part.

I agree pcat bio is a little more straightforward than the copious amounts of info they throw at you in bio class. Thanks for your help!

It's not a big deal, the Study Materials are most IMPORTANT ACE PCAT.

Kaplan unhelpful 😉 Only need it review biology-citrate cycle, atp, yadayada in case you forgotton
