The desperation to blame this on transgender people is weird. Frankly, the whole kicking back and forth between “right” and “left” claiming he’s a member of the “other team” is weird. The guy became delusional because he spent all his time online and was radicalized by the trash on the internet. He’s not an operative of either party. He’s just a crazy guy. I bet the psychology of these “political murderers” is very similar to the mass shooters of schools.

Yeah, this is why I don’t think it’ll go anywhere politically on either side. This shooter is a symptom of the problem of social media. The Utah governor said that the day this happened and it’s the most accurate assessment of what drove this murder I’ve seen.

Conservative and Liberals continue to talk pass each other. It is useless to try and convince the other side. The constant rhetoric from one side to the other and making it personal is what continues the divide.

Everyone just need to tone it down and accept people will have views that makes zero sense.

I have watched probably 15 Kirk videos in the past and he makes sense 95% of the time to me. I disagree with the other 5-10%. The left see those 5-10% as radical. The right sees it as too far right. 95% of the People who hate Kirk are just ill informed and too lazy to actually watch his videos. They either just watch tik tock snippets or use reddit as their news. They are just too lazy and want to have their beliefs confirmed by watching 5 second snippets.

They then become radicalized after countless hours of searching for, "Kirk is racists" and pops up hundreds of snippets. Again, if you seek then you will find. This guy sought and became radicalized. Anyone who kills another based on never really meeting the person has been radicalized.

Some people are indoctrinated/radicalized by social media/groypers/whatever the shooter was into.

Other people can start believing conspiracy theories like the Great Replacement Theory and that the 2020 election was stolen from sources like... Charlie Kirk. In fact, that's often how people come to believe conspiracy theories. They're welcomed into the fold with rhetoric that is familiar, and then they will sneak in the actual bad stuff when the guard comes down.

To use your numbers, the fact that 95% of his content is "innocuous" doesn't mean the 5% bat**** nonsense shouldn't be vehemently criticized.

I didn’t even really know who the guy was until all of this. It’s pretty clear he was a racist and homophobe amongst other things though.

It’s very likely he would say the same thing about doctors who perform abortions since he’s made comparisons to the holocaust. While that would be an extreme way to phrase the issue, I certainly wouldnt call it a radical position since roughly half the voters don’t think it should be legal in all cases.

A “Nuremberg trial” is akin to a public reckoning, and a trial involves due process. Unless your interpretation is he believes we should march them straight to the gallows. I think if that is what he meant, he would have said it.

Some of his position comes from a place of ignorance, he thinks doctors just hand out pills and do reassignment surgery without much second thought. Some of his position is from misinterpreting and cherry picking data. Some of it is to fit the narrative. Nevertheless, there are those that detransition, even if small it’s a non zero number. And, there are very public stories that imply mental health, like Chris Beck, or the failure of gender as a social construct, like the E.O. Money paper.

I don’t find it extreme or surprising in this context, that he believed he needed to protect children from making irreversible changes to their body.

Just make the penalty for illegally obtaining or possessing a firearm 20-life, it all goes away in a year or two.

Probably is...most of the red states try to make it as legal as possible to own any firearm, and as many as you can get your hands on.

Kinda makes you wonder why red states have higher crime rates, more violence, more poverty yet the GOP are supposed to be better on crime, violence and the economy

I can’t speak for others, but my best guess… they want to point to colleges as a place that indoctrinates and radicalizes kids. Turning kids against their family with almost zero political diversity.

I think this is a poor case bc he only went one semester. But there are other ways to indoctrinate.

That’s good because it’s a fact.

If you really want to put a dent in gun violence you are gong to have to ban handguns and address suicide considering the fact that if you completely stopped every ar related mass shooting you would stop approx 1/20 gun violence related homicides, and less than 2 percent of all gun related deaths. And that is being generous.

2023 cdc data 46,700 gun related deaths, of which there are 27,300 suicides, and 722 mass shooting deaths
(Gva, data).

I’m sure they are going to stop at ar15s and high capacity magazines when there are still 46,000 gun deaths per year…

Serious question. I’m not a historian. I am pretty sure black peoples lives got better from slavery to the 1960s. Coming from slavery would be the most traumatic. Why are things worse from 1960 to now? The 1960s weren’t more traumatic than slavery.

The government incentivized fathers not being in the home. It makes harder but not impossible to be successful. True for any race

Victim mentality never helps out unless you are training for the oppression Olympics.

What's funny about people who don't know history is that they think that if X person wasn't around, or didn't make the right moves, that Y movement wouldn't have happened.

Maybe it's the world itself that's driving people to reactionary right wing movements. If the world were different, we wouldn't see it, but it's the way it is, and the shift is happening.

I watched that to be a good sport. Didn’t seem violent in the sense of burning and punching people but violent in the sense of pushing through barricades and window. I think mainly bc I was unfairly pitting it against the looting and burning I often see in riots. So in my mind if I hear riot, I think burning and looting.

I will critique the video is sounds like the sound was amplified. Way louder than realistically expected. And it sounded like stock audio on the button cam/fish eye cam Which possibly/likely had no audio.

Still blows my mind that people would unlawfully go in a federal building with cops around. Heck, I try not to pass a cop on the road even if I’m not speeding

Simple. Both were weak/ineffective Presidents. Afterwards, the country chose assertive Republican Presidents who did some pretty bad things. Carter's and Biden's presidencies influenced the outcome of the next election. Certainly you could say George HW Bush gave us Clinton as HW was pretty ineffective too. I have no ill will toward either, you never get everything you want with a Pres. I have great respect for Pres Carter as a person, he pounded lots of nails for Habitat. But he was not an effective Pres. No need to comment on Biden/Harris as we are 340 pages in to Biden is out of the race and everything possible has already been said. Trump is flailing in real time, so the economy will determine his successor.
