Biden Out of Race

nothing, but this thread is about joe biden and his destruction of the world, feel free to glance over random comments
Not a huge Biden fan but the world’s problems long predated him. I would actually give his administration fair grades on handling the economy. The problems of Ukraine and the Middle East are their own should not concern us. I don’t know why everybody is so against the illegal immigration typically, they are hard. Workers were coming to do jobs for low price that nobody else wants to do (in fact, there are plenty of Americans I’d rather deport first)

ukraine and middle east get billions of our tax dollars, that's why we are concerned

And to be honest not too many people are that passionate about Ukraine. War and (alleged) human rights violations only seem to be a problem when a certain country is fighting. Wonder why that is….

This post tells us everything we need to know about you. Maybe lay off the brewskis…
No "brewskis". Just a few typos late at night. Clearly you believe all the lies Trump continues to spew about his election loss and all the associated grievances. Every time anyone says he won't cross a line, he does. I don't know what the breaking point is for all the MAGA blowhards and there may not be one when the blowhards support trump using the US military for his own political agenda.

Good job, Democrats, on pushing away moderates like me into the arms of the right.

A lot of the leftists in here still fail to see why they lose over and over.

I pray Mamdani WINS!!!!!!. Please let him win and implement everything on his platform. I hope republicans just stand back and let him implement every "socialist" policy and have free reign on running the government. Let Americans see what it would be like to have a leftist run the government. More dems going to vote R in the future if Mamdani wins and implements his platform.

Rent Freeze - Please freeze it for 20 years.
Universal childcare - Please please spend the money to ensure everyone has free caregivers for the kids they made
Rich tax hike - Please please increase taxes to 50% for people making 200K. Please do this
Citywide grocery store - Please open a bunch and cut prices in half compared to other supermarkets
Free public transport - Yes
Defund the police - Yes, please

Rich tax hike - Please please increase taxes to 50% for people making 200K. Please do this

"Mamdani has proposed various policies that would require large levels of funding, including city-wide free buses, universal child care and city-owned grocery stores. To pay for them, he has proposed creating an additional tax bracket for New York City residents with income over $1 million, which would be taxed at 5.9%."

I don't think this tax hike would happen. I don't think many of his other proposals will come to pass either even if he is elected.

But I can hope and pray that he gets to pass everything he wants!!!! Let the man cook and see if the rest of the country likes what he is making.

Maybe he can do free college, free homes for the homeless, free, free, free. More free, the more the better. Please let him get elected and please let the dem city council/state government let him implement all of his plans.

I can just imagine what the city run grocery would look like. Sell it below cost would be exceptional fiscal management.

Would hit the upper middle class the worst. The truly wealthy have no income

This is always the case. The poor have little money to worry about any tax policies. The ultra rich has no worries as they do not make any income plus they are protected by similar ultra rich on both sides. The upper middle are the ones that gets hosed; been the case forever.

Life lesson to be learned. I hope to eventually have no income to tax and live off loans in the next 5-10 years.

Exactly. The Henry’s don’t get much if any tax benefit.

Outside of those living in blue states with state income taxes due to the salt tax increase. I see no tax benefit to me in Florida as I was never hit with the salt tax limit. Many docs standard or itemized deductions won’t see more than a $1000-3000 tax savings if any at all. And many self employed docs in blue states have been circumventing the salt tax deductions cap anyways. So they won’t see much tax savings.

I don’t see if or any tax savings for most docs making 400-600k tax range compared to the old tax plan.

Just listened to the interview of Francis Fukuyama and he mentions that MAGA has gone so far right, that eventual pendulum swing in the other direction is inevitable (just like what happened in Russian revolution).

I am paraphrasing of course but he strongly hints that we will eventually get a true socialist president, and that all thanks to the damage that Trumpism has done.

I don't think that is rational. Do we blame democrats/Obama for pushing left so much that Trump happened? It sounds like what I would expect to hear from a college elitist (meant to sound smart, but it is stupid). Sometimes you just have to place blame on the person committing the action. Maybe there is something to it and I just don't get it (bc I do think the left has pushed so far that they don't leave much room for many groups).

Biden/ Obama are centre-left at best IMO. But Biden’s policy on immigration was further to the left than what was acceptable to Americans and that absolutely contributed to Trump getting elected (immigration was the second most important issue for voters after the economy).

If you want to talk about true leftists then you need to look at people like Bernie and Zohran. But Trump 2.0 is even further to the right than Zohran/ Bernie are on the left.

That’s how far republicans have gone on the scale.

You read my mind about the immigration policy...and that Obama and HRC were identical to trump's policy more or less.

I think everything has moved left which makes the moderate right winger look way left, but that is nothing new. I can't help but think that Zohran/Bernie has to happen for people to realize you run out of money with that mindset. And that getting free stuff doesn't make life better. Zohran seems insincere and fake- I hope that isn't ony a right wing opinion.

I am very hopeful that ZM wins. What do logical people think will happen when they open up a supermarket even at Cost? There will be nothing on the shelves and they will never be able to keep it stocked. There will be long lines, riots, people fighting for everything in the store. Imagine Black Friday 20 years ago in hyperdrive.

I would love to see it. Socialism never works but would love for NYC voters to get a real taste of what they voted for. I am praying he wins and wins BIG so he has a mandate. This would be a great contrast to Trump.

A super left AM running a government vs a Super right DJT running a government. I will bet that NYC will be much worse and people will be begging for DJT or Rudy to come back to NYC.

More or less

"The Trump administration is restricting the number of refugees admitted annually to the United States to 7,500 and they will mostly be white South Africans, a dramatic drop announced Thursday that effectively suspends America’s traditional role as a haven for those fleeing war and persecution.

The move cements a major shift in policy toward refugees that aligns with the Republican administration’s broader goals of keeping out foreigners whom it deems a risk to the nation’s security or a threat to U.S. jobs. That shift has meant increased immigration enforcement, in cities and at borders and entry points, in what’s become a vastly changed landscape in a country long seen as a beacon for migrants.

No reason was given for the new numbers, which were published in a notice on the Federal Register and are a steep decrease from last year’s ceiling of 125,000 set under Democratic President Joe Biden."

Cool post.

Do you really care who the mayor of NYC is or are you so dug into the right wing feeds that you felt the need to post about a mayor of a city that I assume you don’t live in? You care enough that you are praying? It’s weird that all you guys say the same things about a mayoral candidate for a city that you don’t live in. I have MAGA colleagues who couldn’t stop talking about Mamdani yesterday and how they can’t wait for him to win (similar things you are posting). We aren’t in NYC (which I assume you aren’t either). The recited talking points that seem to originate from similar sources is just odd. That’s all.

Nah, I would have been just as happy for Bernie to win so this Socialist junk can be put to rest. But of course, the left knows its junk and railed against him. Good try though.

Only way to show some wackos what the left is all about is to actually have one of them running the most imp city in the country.

Shockingly, I don't read right wing news feed. I watch 75% ABC News. Fox has their wackos. CNN their wackos. Don't have tik tock, insta, twitter, or whatever else you get your news from. I stopped responding to you b/c your posts are just a bunch of crazy incomprehensible diatribe.

Now Carry on in your echo chamber.

ZM makes Cuomo’s interviews sound like a prime Rush Limbaugh. It would be funny if it wasn’t terrifying.

I just think it’s weird that your post was like word for word what two other MAGA friends of mine were saying. But you are saying it’s coincidence so I’ll take your word for it. I thought it was also curious that you felt so passionately about the mayoral race in NYC and I assume you don’t live there. If you’re not watching any news or internet feeds then why is the mayoral race in NYC at the forefront of your mind…so much so that you made a post about it?

I guess you can continue to insult me as a response. If it makes you feel better, insult away.

I would think it’s possible to have a socialist president. However many fake super rich democratic elite leaders like pelosi and big democratic donors like to talk a big game but want to protect their own money at all costs.

The elite democrats would kill any socialist leading candidate (see Bernie sanders) in 2016 being back stabbed by the elite Democratic Party internal emails to get Hillary as the lead candidate just as Bernie was gaining steam.

The super rich control both the Democratic Party and Republican Party.

Correct. Let the left have socialist running the city or state or whatever. I would like to see that experiment

Even left leaning Vermont tried universal healthcare 10 years ago?? And I support universal healthcare by the way. Except when the Vermont liberal govt money crunchers went to do the math. They basically said all Vermont’s residents would have to pay like 7-8% more in taxes rich and poor for healthcare. lol. Cause their math to pay for the program didn’t work with just depending on trying to tax the super rich.

So any theories about socialism would involve shared sacrifices rich and poor. Except the elite socialism leaders know they won’t get the poor’s vote if the poor know they would need to start contributing. Fascinating right? It’s fun and games until you have to start paying for programs. People are selfish.

On Weds Oct 29 Katie Miller went on Piers Morgan. Her initial talking point was ‘I hope Mamdani wins so the socialist ideology can be exposed for what it is’. Immediately this talking point filed right-leaning algorithms.

Mamdani winning seems inevitable even as the establishment continues to back Cuomo though he’s been accused of sexual assault by 13 women.

I can almost be convinced that Trump and MAGA aren’t an extreme right movement/ideology by Trump voters on this board (who seem to pay zero attention to what his admin actually does), and then I actually listen to someone like Katie Miller. Or I see articles on the following:

- limiting immigration numbers to 7500 almost all white people
- quietly waging war on Venezuela with NO CONGRESSIONAL debate or approval (but briefing only Republicans on details)
- letting Americans dependent on SNAP go hungry while giving 20 billion to Argentina

And I listen to Katie Miller’s actual words. Every single criticism of her policy beliefs gets immediately labeled as antisemitic in nature by her. She’s a complete snowflake. Nothing in the Israel-Palestine debate (not the current genocide, not Gaza laying in rubble, not 70k (mostly women and children) Palestinians dead)) gets past Oct 7. Past Oct 7, genocide is defensible by Israel.

Beyond that, nothing in this administration seems actually PRO AMERICA. listen to MTG if you question me.

the division in MAGA seems to be on Israel. You either accept everything this admin does and believe Israel > America (like the Millers). Or you support all this admin does but you’re antisemitic (see Nick Fuentes with TC interview).

People need to stop living in the past and move forward. Colleges athletics started integration 6-7 decades ago with merit based athletic scholarships.

We are talking about 3 sometimes 4 generations of African Americans in that time frame. What’s it going to take? Another 4 more generations?

While it takes only one generation of an Asian immigrant or zero generation to make it to college.

People need to stop acting like the USA owes them.

The US was built on the backs of African-Americans while the majority of Asian-Americans weren’t even here. Systemic racism did not die with slavery or the Covil Rights Act of 1965 that Trump is trying to upend. I am not willing to waste my time discussing this on this forum because anything I say will fall on deaf ears. I have read many of your posts, and I don’t perceive open mindedness would be happening, so what is the point.

Speaking of Israel.

Try sending a zelle/venmo/paypal with “support Israel” in the memo.

I learned this 10 days ago when I sent a Zelle to my Persian friend and wrote “Iran funds” and even though it was Bank of America to back of America same bank transfer. The they are obligated to block it. Duh. My friend is from Iran.

Than try sending a zell/venmo/paypal with support Hamas/taliban or even support Cuban sandwich. And the us govt banks will block ur electronic payments. It’s ridiculous.
Needs to be fair and balance like I always say. For a freaking Cuban sandwich memo the us govt blocks the zelle but ok to support Israel in the memo.

Years ago, when checks were more common, there was an inside joke that we would write in the memo section, “For sensual massage”

Back in the day, several human eyes would see that memo. It was a great way to embarrass someone.

The intellectual dishonesty in some of these posts amazes me. Iran/Hamas/Taliban are terrorist states / organizations. You may not agree with Israel's actions, but they are not a terrorist state.

One party has voted 13 times to keep the government closed.

You lost. By a popular vote mandate. You don't get to now tantrum, close the government, and then claim no responsibility for the consequences of such.

I don’t agree with Israel’s actions. And neither does the rest of the world. The Palestinian people aren’t a terrorist organization. If the question is ‘Should Israel hold Hamas accountable?’ the answer is a resounding yes. Gaza is in rubble. There’s a humanitarian crisis. There’s a genocide. > 70,000 Palestinians are dead. And Hamas is still there.

Israel is a very tricky and touchy subject as Joe Biden couldn’t figure what to do. And that was in response to the other post saying MAGA didn’t know what to do with Israel either.

Joe Biden delayed and slowed walked his way how to handle Israel proves what a mess it is.

If the USA stopped supporting Israel like how they pulled out of countries like Vietnam’s 50 years ago or even afghan a few years ago and let nature take its course. We would be far better off away from the conflict. But monetary powers in charge want to keep the conflict going. Conflict and chaos is always good for business. Remember that.

By the way. I don’t agree with both sides actions. Hamas is wrong. Israel is wrong. Fair and balanced.

So anything that says Israel in a Venmo zelle should also be blocked.

Educate me, oh wise one.

How many votes required to pass a spending bill in the Senate? How many Republican Senators? Produce a bill with compromise. Negotiate. Where’s the Republican House gone? MIA for the last 6 weeks.

Or keep the government closed and continue to bail out foreign governments while claiming to be America First.

So you are in agreement we shouldn’t support Israel? Bailing out foreign Israel with weapons support and other intelligence. Right?

I don't think it's quite so black and white.

I'm not Israeli, Palestinean, Arab, Jewish, or Muslim. No real emotional dog in this fight.

But I can't quite draw such a firm line between "Palestineans" and "Hamas" - after all, Hamas is the democratically elected government of Gaza. They openly committed an act of war, sending an organized force of uniformed soldiers into Israel to kill and kidnap people. One could argue that the election was a long time ago, the same way one could argue that the people of Gaza are so weak, apathetic, or devoid of agency that they are simply helpless bystanders as their government spent year after year committing crime and atrocity after crime and atrocity ... but I'm not buying it.

Nobody drew a firm line between "the German people" and the "Nazi Regime" ... or "the Japanese people" and "Hirohito's military government" ... and yet we firebombed Dresden and Tokyo, nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and carpet bombed both countries, until both nations quit and surrendered unconditionally. Granted, some people these days feel retroactively guilty about those actions, but I don't.

Anyway, while I'm broadly sympathetic to suffering, injury, and death sustained by kids (in any war zone, anywhere), I struggle to muster comparable sympathy for adult Gazans. And I wouldn't find it particularly unreasonable for Israel to wage unrestricted total warfare against Gaza until Hamas offers up their own unconditional surrender.

Nice points. I'd argue a big difference between now and WWII is we were in a fight for our very survival, not just for ourselves but for Europe and the entire world as we new it. The Western way of life. The war was provoked on both fronts. At least with Pearl Harbour, the attack was primarily against military assets We still care to, as much as possible, distinguish civilian from military targets. Tokyo was bombed to reduce military industrial manufacturing capabilities. Hiroshima and and Nagasaki were chosen largely based on targeted military assets. The alternative was a land invasion that may have killed over a million civilians. This was taken into account when planning the nuclear attacks. As terrifying as they may be, they saved many more lives.

The Israeli didn't have to engage indiscriminate air raids against civilians. They have the world's best intelligence network use it. Sending in boots on the ground to door out Hamas will result in higher troops casualties but fewer civilian deaths compared to indiscriminate bombing. There's a price to pay for protecting civilians.

You're joking right? Your romanticization of WW2 aside, sources estimate over 650k Japanese civilians deaths secondary to American air raids.

Indiscriminate Israeli air raids lol. Leaflets dropped days before strikes. Warnings to evacuate. However, Hamas won't let them, and continues to place military assets near civilian areas such as hospitals. Why on earth would Israel send In ground troops? It's not their responsibility to sacrifice their own troops in the name of civilian protection.

The intellectualization of base antisemitism is more than apparent in this thread. One poster above suggests equal treatment Hamas and Israel lol. "Progressive" ideology will always side with the popular "victim" no matter how that party's baseline values differ from their own.

There it is. Wondered how long it’d take for someone to whine antisemitism if the government of Israel is criticized. As if their actions of hate don’t stand for themselves, there’s an undercurrent of antisemitism driving criticism. Get real. Watch some Dave Smith (who’s Jewish). The amount of antisemitism tossed his way is hilarious. As if only anyone could side with Palestinians over the Israeli government based on how someone feels about the entirety of the Jewish people? Get real and quit being a snowflake.

I’m not Jewish, Israeli, Palestinian, Arabic, or Muslim. I have no emotional dog in this fight over than obvious symbolism with David and Goliath. And I care for all human beings - especially those being oppressed. I find obvious symbolism in those claiming to be followers of Jesus, but by their thoughts and actions actually looking more like those who put him on the cross.

Everytime something happens to Israel they act as if they’re David. It’s incumbent on the US to bail them out (bomb Iran) as if that’s somehow in our best interest? Someone here explain to me why a beef farmer or soybean farmer in the Midwest gives a flying flip how much the US govt bails out Israel? And yet any criticism of the Israeli govt gets labeled antisemitism. Why does criticism of a government get labeled as criticism of an entire people? I don’t take it as some criticism to me as a person when someone outside the US criticizes the US government.

Israel is a world juggernaut. They need to act like it. Hamas needs to be held accountable for Oct 7 - after it took the IDF like 6 hours to get to one of the most watched areas of the world, Hamas absolutely needs to be held accountable. Netanyahu funded them (as did the US) with the idea that it meant he could control them (that’s not such a leap bc most people feel others can be bought and sold with impunity and it’s how the world works. It explains much of Trump). So hold Hamas accountable.

The Palestinians absolutely have no agency. Their so called Army is maybe 25,000 (per Wikipedia). They have no Navy. They have no Air Force. Those in Gaza and the West Bank don’t vote on who actually controls them (Israel) and they aren’t allowed to travel freely (Israeli mandate). Israel has occupied Gaza (their intent the whole time). They repeatedly commit atrocities in the West Bank, which I’m sure they’ll occupy in time. The last real election for Gazans was in like 2005 or 2006.

On Hamas. As a non-Gazan I have zero insight into their politicosocial beliefs. I can only say the following - imagine you as a US citizen couldn’t travel freely because a foreign government (who frequently killed your neighbors) didn’t allow it. Imagine they invade your land for something your representative government did and one day you look outside and see 9 out of 10 homes completely flattened and in rubble. You see foreign soldiers everywhere. In your home and in your formers neighbors home. They patrol aid stations and humanitarian stations as the world tries to come and help you. Foreign soldiers kill journalists trying to document what’s going on. The foreign government now states no journalists allowed. Foreign soldiers kill your neighbors, your spouse, your kids, your aunts, your uncles, and everyone who’s ever meant anything to you.

Are you going to support anyone and everyone who may exact revenge for you? Or some other non-military entity claiming peace but most likely is a pawn of the government who invaded your land?

I don’t claim authority on what Gazans think, what they do, or how they act. But Israel is no David. They aren’t innocent. They’ve indiscriminately carpet bag bombed Gaza, killing women and children. They’ve killed journalists. They won’t allow journalists to document what’s happening. How exactly are they holding Hamas accountable for Oct 7? And who gets to decide when enough is enough?

the rapid change in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s rhetoric feels like she got on some new meds or something.

It’s really striking how she’s changed her rhetoric.

MTG, while not all there and not completely innocent, saw the Biden admin as not acting in America’s best interest. Or at minimum not acting in her constituents best interest. She was right.

I think she thought Trump as the antithesis of the Biden admin. Someone who said he’d stand up for actual Americans with policy and action. But that isn’t what’s happened. I think if you’re MTG you try and visualize life from the perspective of a beef cattle farmer or soybean farmer in the US. Or a regular US citizen working and living in the ole US of A. You have kids who you want a great life for. Better than the life you have. You want the promise of good jobs. You need to buy groceries and feed your family. So you need a reasonable cost of living. You want a retirement. You want college to be affordable for your kids.

You were told Biden wasn’t the answer and you believed it. And yet here you sit with Trump - bailing out Argentina, waging pseudo-war on Venezuela, helping Israel bomb Iran, government completely shut down and Americans (some of whom are your constituents) unable to put food on the table. And rather than provide thoughts or solutions Trump remodels bathrooms, sends out pics of the remodel, tours Asia, and sets about another 300-400 million remodel. And his entire mode of action seems not to actually help Americans but really just to find new ways to own libs and exact revenge on his perceived enemies.

None of that crap is America first. MTG sees it for what it is.

She was welcomed with open arms by MAGA. She was full on 100% MAGA. But she turned her back on them when she figured out MAGA was a ruse. A ploy to get yet another 80yo who sundowns with the best of them back in power. She’s seen MAGA isn’t America First in any way shape or form.

Maybe this is her play for party power. Who knows. I’m sure she’ll come up with some other crazy crap soon enough.

Honestly though American voters need to start backing someone who’ll represent America over foreign governments.

Horseshoe theory on full display. When "progressives" start aligning with losers like MTG lollll.

MTG is awful and has engaged in horrendous conspiracy theories. My guess is I agree with MTG on two things and maybe two things only - America First and stop supporting foreign governments at the expense of America.

I do agree in the horseshoe theory for the extremes. I have no clue what you believe. Keep making assumptions about me though.

That's not an apples to oranges comparison, is it? The Allies were trying to bring on its heels 2 powers hell-bent on ending our very existence. We didn't have the capability to be price with our weapons. Bombing Tokyo was an attempt to destroy their industrial base. Unfortunately, a lot of civilians died because of the impricision our weapons and civilians were working in their factories. It was a terrible thing to do and the civilian cost in Europe has high on both sides. The difference was the Germans were indiscriminate and the ALLIES tried to target industrial targets.

Israel's existence by Hamas is not at threat. Israel's response was not proportionate. There are rules modern warfare - a just war. Israel did not fight a just war. Hamas still hasn't been defeated, so what do the flattening of Gaza and 70k+ dead have to show for it? Yes, in modern warfare, you do things the hard way, even if it means putting more of your own troops lives at risk, to protect civilians citizens of your enemy. When you don't, you become a war criminal. That's what Netanyahu has become.

The funny thing is, I've always been very pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian (this thread has helped me to reflect on whether some of those positions were justified), and my heart goes out to Israel for what happened on Oct. 7. But Netanyahu is 1 man. My distaste of and critique of his government's actions doesn't amount to hating the Israeli people or those of Jewish heritage, not anymore than criticizing Trump makes me anti-American
