Hi,

I have an interview coming soon, and I was wondering were there any cases of people actually blanking out at their interview either prior to the question or during midway of answering the question?

For me, I get very nervous and sometimes just blank out and I think it is hard for me to recover my thoughts... I know we aren't suppose to memorize our answers for potential interview questions, but try to know what you are going to say, however, I just can't seem to do this very well... I feel like if I practiced too much then it will seemed rehearsed and that's bad... suggestions?

I am a reapplicant and I 've been through few interviews. I blanked out during one. I didn't let it bother me,I smiled and finished my answer. Get ready for what is expected and be confident that you do know the answers. Once you start the interview, you won't feel as nervous. When they asked me something I did not expect I did freeze for a second ( or more...) Relax and be yourself , you will be fine..

Good Luck

This kinda might be along the lines of what you're talking about...I was asked a question during my interview...he said, have you ever been in X situation and how did you handle it? Well, I can't recall being in such a situation, but I still sat there and thought of one I may have been in...the room was quiet for a good 10-15 seconds (it felt like 10-15 minutes lol), and then he said "dont worry about it, i'll just ask you another question"

And I was accepted. 🙂 So don't sweat it too much

LOL! such a nice interviewer!

i think most adcoms know that you are nervous as hell and are a little forgiving when it comes to hiccups in the interview (they won't expect perfection). BUT, if you blanked out during the entire interview, that won't bode well at all.
