Last year, Witzburg made a comment that he had only a very small stack of applications on the corner of his desk, but then it turned out that they had waitlisted EVERY SINGLE PERSON (on sdn, at least -- but since that's a ton (I forget, 20?), that's pretty indicative).

So don't put too much faith in that. Lying bastards.

i'm east coast and still up... but need to pass out soon... finding out i got in via an email at 1am has kept me mad the past few hrs. but must pass out now...

p.s. anyone know if/how many merit scholarships BU gives out a yr?

US news seems to think 1/3 get scholarships/grants, which is pretty sweet.

I had emailed my interviewer earlier tonight (asking about my admission decision) at 11pm expecting to hear back tomorrow morning...

...but Dr. Fujii emailed me right back at 1am and told me I am in!!! (apparently he's been swamped with clinic this week- hence he hadn't called)

But oh ****! and i was planning to sleep! good luck everyone else!

Well, I'm awake now . . . loggin in for another day of fun and games here on SDN.

But yeah, congrats epi!!! Seriously dude, you've got more guts than I do, and congrats for that too. lol. I'm too scared to email, and have them give me an awkward, "well, hate to be the one to tell you but . . . "

I know of one GMS student accepted besides bring1011 and I. So there are probably many people who have been accepted but just don't know it yet.

So, as a non-frequenter of SDN, I've been spending the greater part of yesterday and today on this thread. I admire the optimism that you guys share... it's SO awesome! I was always wary to join this site cuz of the stress and neuroticism so many other users spread to others, but this thread is different.... I'm a 2nd year GMS student too also awaiting my decision. So, best of luck to everyone and I'll keep you all posted on what I hear. I know that regardless of the news, it's somewhat comforting to be well-informed rather than being left in the dark. Kudos to those who've gotten in and extra-kudos to those GMSers that I personally know who've gotten in!! 😀

I just called them again. They informed me that they are REALLY hoping to have emails and snail mails out by today. Take that info however you want. I'm going to Honduras tomorrow so I REALLY hope they send out emails today so I at least know SOMETHING.

I don't think it's been updated...I interviewed in the first batch, and mine still says the same message about a final "disposition" being made in March.

Man, you have to wonder what's the hold-up. It doesn't take long to send an e-mail. Do they just not know yet who they're taking?? That would be kind of ridiculous. Are they having "technical difficulties"? Or what? 😛 Geez.

just called the office and the lady seemed pretty reluctant to give me a straight answer.

me: when will decisions be released?
lady: we're hoping sometime today.
me: will it be by the end of this day?
lady:......well, we're......... hoping by..... sunday. everyone will get an update or some sort by email by sunday.

I feel the same way... I guess I just look to the fact I still am young and that I still have time to be a doctor. It's kinda sucky tho...since most my friends will be going somewhere. But, its something i'll have to deal with and overcome... u know... Good luck AzuraDragon

Hey Patton, Have you heard back from your interviewer? I want to email mine. But I'm scared.

I think we should try to refrain from contacting our interviewers unless they contact us first.

One interviewer has forwarded an applicant's email request to Dean Witzburg. If you're already accepted I don't think it would hurt you but if you're waitlisted there's no telling how admissions committees takes these sort of actions. Admissions committees are like a huge mystery and I'd rather not do anything that would risk them even being mildly irritated at me.

Clearly, the interviewers that are friendly with their applicants and like going the extra mile have already contacted their applicants or will do so of their own initiative in the next few days. If an interviewer doesn't contact you, he or she probably doesn't want to be bothered. In fact, some med school specifically tell you not to contact your interviewer except for a thank you card.

Don't get me wrong, I'm flipping out on the inside but I don't think contacting interviewers is a good idea especially since the Dean of Admissions is now aware that applicants are bugging their interviewers.
