Hi!
I'm a freshman at a T10 school. My stats right now are
- 3.7cGPA, 3.8 sGPA (but that's probably going to get higher by the end of this semester)
- Run a small business that generates $4,000+ in profits per year (which I use those profits to fund scholarships at my high school)
- Neuroscience Research (2 posters, 2 presentations)
- 1st Author Publication in Peer-reviewed journal (writing tutoring pedagogy)
- Nonclinical Volunteering (disability advocacy/APO projects/other random projects): 150+ hours currently (no clinical hours yet)
- Well-known disabled and Girls in STEM advocate (get invited to give talks and such, spoke on 5 podcasts this school year)
I currently study neuroscience and I love neuroscience and my research! But, I would love to pick up a double major in "history of sci/med/tech" because history has always been my favorite subject. I'm good at all of the analytical/writing skills associated with it and I've always been a huge history nerd. It's only 7 more courses I have to take so it seems reasonable, but I'm worried that it would make me less competitive because it's not that "practical/less STEM" of a major and take away time from research/other classes/volunteering/policy work etc. I would love to do it because I've always loved history and would love to do independent research/senior thesis in disability history. Thoughts on if I should do it?
