Do you guys recommend taking starts or calc 2 to fulfill the math requirement??

Uh, different schools will have different requirements, but I don't think any vet schools require calc 2, though some require stats explicitly. So I guess look at what the schools you're applying to want? 😕

ohh i didnt know some schools prefer one or the other 🙄.

It's not really a "preference" thing. Statistics is actually a prerequisite course at some of the vet schools (I know UC Davis is one, offhand), and calculus II is a prerequisite course at no vet schools. If you want to take calc II for the fun of it, go for it (I took it because I was a CS major), but be aware that you may have to take Stats in addition to it if you are applying to any schools that have it as a prereq.

ohhh i see, i guess the decision is made then. i would never take Calc 2 for the fun of it...lol but thank you for clarifying that 👍

I think Stats would be more useful to a veterinary career because it is really necessary to understand research methods. Even if you personally don't do research as a vet, it helps you understand the articles and studies that you'll want to read as a student and a veterinarian.

And it's less terrifying than Calc II in my opinion 🙂

Anyone who would take calc II for fun needs their head examined 😀
I took stats, it was really boring but now at least I know where the numbers mean in scientific journal articles.

Some schools want college algebra and stats, some want calc (I) and stats, and some only want one of the three... so really, just get on AAVMC.org and look at each school's requirements to be sure which one(s) you would need to take. 🙂

P.S. I kind of enjoyed stats... a little... probably would have liked it more if the teacher spoke better English. Makes it tricky with those math courses.
