Oregon State 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an OOS acceptance, however I'm unsure about accepting it yet (still waiting on my IS). Is there a Facebook group or anything for the Class of 2029 so I can start meeting potential classmates? I'm guessing maybe not yet since IS still have to interview.

There is a facebook group but I believe it's only sent once you accept. I think you can accept and still wait to pay for your seat.

Okay great, thank you! I should hear from my IS within the next month so I will probably wait to accept.

Does anyone know how many IS applicants Oregon received this year? They still have last years stats on the website

How did everyone feel about the interviews?
I felt pretty good tbh. Left feeling like it was an overall positive experience, and that I was able to answer main prompts and follow up questions. I suppose you can’t tell how they will score you (so I will continue to cross my fingers lol), but I felt like I did as well as I could have hoped to do leading up to the interview. Still super nervous, but completely unavoidable that this point I guess lol

i think i did really well! I’m disappointed with the way my first answer went. I think I simply answered the question, and didn’t go beyond expectations. However for my other two questions I think I not only answered, but had real examples/experiences that connected to the question which helped a lot. One of the interviewers for the second question even told me “well you answered my follow up question” and another from the last question even laughed and surprisingly gave a lot of facial responses even though they’re supposed to be stoic. My last question was the best answered I believe and I came out absolutely beaming. I just hope it goes exactly the way I’m hoping/thinking. I’m just scared to feel hopeful and happy and it not turn out well.

For accepted OOS applicants, are you able to see your “current financial aid status”? i’m not sure if we have to accept the offer first to be able to see that.

You don’t have to, at the bottom of the application status page, beneath the admissions contact is your academic info which has your ID number.

Is anyone waiting for IS final decision? I’m so nervous.. Do we know when they sent out the final decision last year?

I’m waiting!! Last year they sent IS decisions out (according to SDN) February 1st which was a Thursday and the year before that they sent it out on the 27th of January. So we could hypothetically get it anytime this week 🫣or sometime next week for sure

Hi friends!
I know many IS applicants are super anxious waiting for responses, so I do have a little update from my conversation with Tess today. The committee will be meeting this Thursday and they’re hoping to release decisions by the end of the week. Of course, this could change but I’m hoping this relieves at least a bit of anxiety for the time being! Good luck everyone 🙂)

Late to the game here but OOS and got my acceptance on December 30, 2024. Also received a letter from Oregon and reached out to Whitney and she was so so sweet! Only reason I wouldn't end up in Oregon is if I get accepted into my IS school but still waiting to hear back!

Hi everyone! I am an OOS student that was accepted to Oregon but haven’t committed quite yet. I’m planning on touring on March 21st and made a group me for other accepted students that are considering Oregon or that have already committed so that we could maybe get to know each other and see who is touring when!

In state rejection. Kinda bummed because I thought I did really good on the interview and was frankly one of the only people who thought the interview went amazing. Kinda devastated

IS alternate! I was hoping that I would get a definite yes from at least one school by now as this is my third time applying, but an alternate is better than a no. Congrats to everyone that got offers this application cycle!
Any idea how much the IS waitlist normally moves?

I didn’t apply last cycle but plan to apply this cycle. Would any of you IS be willing to share your stats? I’m an older non-trad trying to find how best to work on my weak areas 🩷

Noooo I dragged my feet signing up for the in-person open student day because I thought I wasn't going to have the money for a plane + hotel, but now the rents are wanting to fund a visit BUT both dates are at capacity :bang: Do you guys think I should reach out to anyone or just stick with the virtual open house day and maybe just wander about the campus and Corvallis if I do go visit

If you are interested in visiting and learning more about the school you can always schedule a tour of the vet school and a meeting with Tess! Just contact her to let her know the situation and she normally is good about setting that kind of stuff up.

I'd say reach out to Tess. In the email I got on Monday regarding the open-house, we were asked to let them know if can't make it. Maybe some who signed up before accepted another offer and hopefully give up their spot to you?

I was able to get into the open house on the 14th!

Does anyone have any suggestions for Corvallis housing? I feel like a lot of stuff opens in July-August from what I heard but I'll be looking at housing options from the east coast lol. Just wondering what rental management places seemed reputable since I don't want to live in a slumlord's dump. Was there a facebook housing group?

Anyone who went to the admitted students yesterday, what was the dress code? I'm packing for next week and am unsure what to wear!

Just wear something comfortable (I did jeans and sweaters). The only dress code is closed-toe shoes as you go to labs and VTH
And it was raining heavily, so make sure you have your rain jacket/umbrella handy 🙂

Noted, thank you so much!

Hey! I’m a current 1st year. You probably have met my partner in crime (Renee Rodriguez my trusty co-prez for class of 2028) I went to undergrad at OSU, and have used a handful of property companies. For apartments, I lived at the retreat, it’s on the expensive side but a solid place all around, my friend lived at the domain and said it was also a good apartment, as well as witham hill apartments, and the union are good options. As far as rental management companies for houses and duplexes, I highly recommend Chateau properties, they are the least shady landlords I’ve found. Duerksen and Co properties I’ve heard are ok for rental houses, but don’t expect to get your deposit back. Best of luck! Happy to help in any way future docs 🙂
