I am in need of some insight on the Step 3 exam. Hopefully, someone will share their expertise with me.

1. How long after taking Step 1 and Step 2 did you take the Step 3 exam?
2. What was your score?
3. What resources did you use to study for the exam?
4. How long did you prepare for the exam?
5. Which specialties were emphasized on the exam (i.e. Pulmonary, Cardiovascular, Endocrinology, etc.)?

I will appreciate any input. You can send your replies to [email protected].

Thank you so very much - in advance.

I took it about 18 months after Step 2 and about 3 years after Step I at the end of my transitional year. I mainly used the blueprint series and the Boards and Wards book for studying. I'm a dork and studied for about 3 weeks for it and scored insanely high (over 2.5 SD above). No one cares about your score though so just pass. I think all specialties were covered pretty thoroughly. It's mostly medicine and pediatrics with a lot of outpatient and emergency department emphasis. Good luck, just get it over with and move on.
