Maybe people haven't spoken up about BU because the school is dealing with lawsuits related to their tone-deaf approach to students going through a rough time with coronavirus, students who paid $30,000 to go to London for six weeks this summer, got Zoom classes instead and while they were apparently told they'd get a tuition break they were still charged the $30,000 so they filed a lawsuit, other students in Spring 2020 were asked to leave campus but didn't get refunds for their meal plans rendered worthless because of covid, Bu was called out in the media because of it. BUSPH has done everything from having behind the scenes connections with e-cigarette companies, to blatantly promoting them on the blog of a full professor in the school of public health, and attacking the CDC and NIH in the process for taking a more nuanced and thoughtful approach. BU is good at "gaslighting" students with regards to the poor administration and faculty interaction with students, and harassment of students just trying to learn, every year or so somebody posts about the poor interaction noticed even by applicants.
Recently, the school announced it was going to form a committee to consider changing the name of their mascot "Rhett" which they themselves in 2016 explained their proud connection to Gone with the Wind, as they have tweeted before: "BostonTweet
@BostonTweet
Rhett, the BU mascot, was named after the male lead in Gone with the Wind, Rhett Butler, because "no one loves Scarlet more than Rhett."
Boston University looking into retiring mascot's nickname because of its reference to 'Gone With the Wind' they should change it instantly, (as well as the school color of 'scarlet red') no need to form a committee at all if it offends many students which it would. Don't believe them if they say they didn't know about the connection, it has been promoted on the school's website and many public health students would disagree strongly with the viewpoints of several full professors.
