I am still torn between Louisville and VCU. The 30 days to decide seems quick to me. I have friends at both schools and would like to see how their 2nd semesters are before really deciding on my school. Can I send acceptance money to both schools to hold my spot until I am certain about which school I want to attend?? I know I will lose money since its non-refundable but thats fine.

yes you can do that. There is certain date where you have to pick one school and withdrawal from the rest. I think it is sometime in May.

Good luck deciding.

Do the schools look down upon students that do this??

Just think about it this way... What if you were still trying to get in to one of those schools and hadn't had an acceptance yet... Would you want someone holding two spots? It's alright I guess, but you will be giving some student who takes your place a lot less time to plan for moving and getting ready for school. I don't think second semester of 1st year tells you much about the school that 1st semester didn't. If you were waiting for 2nd year that would be a different story.

I don't think schools know that you are holding multiple spots until April or May when AADSAS reveals it (I am not sure exactly when). I am sure they would like to fill their class as quickly as possible with students they are positive will be attending their school.

BUT what about you as an applicant? Wouldn't you have liked to know where you were going like in September instead of waiting for months and months for an interview and for them to review you and re-review you and then re-review you after the interview and put you on hold as they review other applicants who interview way after you? The school is trying to find the best fit for them and finding the best fit for you is just how the process works. Don't be pressured to give up a spot just because people are trying to make you feel guilty. That said, we should all be professional about making your decision and try to do it in a timely manner. When you decide on what is best for you, inform the schools as soon as possible.

Just my opinion. I hope it helps.

I diagree with this comment. OP has demonstrated that he is a worthy candidate and that's why he's given acceptances. And schools realize that there are students who will hold multiple offers, it's just part of the admissions game.

I agree, even 2nd years wouldn't be able to tell you much. I think both schools are great, you can't go wrong with either one.

You can definitely hold more than one spot. 30 days is quick to decide. I think everyone understands that there are still people trying to get into school, but you can't make a decision just so someone else can get in faster. Take your time and make the best deciding for yourself. Don't be rushed by people that want you to decide right now so they can get in sooner.

You can do whatever you'd like. If you received both of your acceptances on or around 12/1, you've probably had more than enough time to decide. I know its a huge decision, but if you haven't been able to make a decision in one months time, can you be sure that you will be able to decide a few months from now?

Just a thought, congrats and good luck!

if it's between 2, flip a coin
if it's between 3, rock/paper/scissors
if it's 4 or more stop being greedy!

since its between two for you, you know what you gotta do

I doubt you'll get accurate feedback about 2nd semester of first year. Pick the cheapest one and run with it (or pick the location of the school - which city would you rather live in?). However, if you're still unsure which school fits your preferences, you might as well put deposits in both...money that goes down the drain. In my opinion, I think you need to do more reading about both schools before putting a deposit (you have a few weeks) - SDN is a great place to do your research via advanced search. Good luck!
