Please guys, my friend really needs your help. She is not able to decide if she should join PG in India or try for a visa .She got admission intoone of the public health programs here. But couldnt get a visa.Any information will be really useful. Thanks

neha,
one can practice in US after getting a canadian DDS degree.
the only thing is I have heard that it is more difficult to get into a dental school in canada than in US.
about the fees i am not really aware how high they are....but i dont think there would be much difference (thats just a guess.....u will have to find out)
as there r only 5 schools in canada that allow forign trained dentists....it is even tougher and many people from canada (cit/perm residents)try to get into US dental schools..anyways it is upto her if she wants to try
she may try again for a US visa.....b4 accepting the PG offer in India....
hope this helps.

Hi Neha

Please ask ur friend to talk to the canadian universities or email them before she decides to come to canada. As far as I know the foreign trained program is mainly for canadian permanent residents or citizens. I am not sure about Torono university but the other universities ask for ur social insurance number and photocopies of ur permanent resident card.

Secondly it is very difficult in comparison to US to get into the dental school.
I dont know about post graduation. The other option that she has it to write DAT and get admission into the regular DDS program. I dont mean to discourage anyone it is just that as u have asked.

if she thinks she can get a Visa to states once she is in Canada as a visitor she will not get it as these days u have to apply for the visa from ur country and as such to ge a visitor visa for residents is also quite difficult. i have friends who have faced difficulties and even refused visas.

I hope this helps ur friend.

after finishing this 2 year program, most Canadian Universities give you a diploma which allow you to work in the US and Cnada, but some of them (Toronto University i think) give you a sertificate with which you can`t work in the US. so check what degree they will give you. and of coures the number of all aplicants accepted in thise programs in Canada is probably smaler than the number of aplicants which BU for example accept. i believe that Toronto (which is not a optinon in your case) accept around 25 people, wich is the biggest number from all other Canadian Universities (they accept between 5 -10 people i think). there are app. 60 places available for foregn trained dentists, while over 600% more aplicants write the Eligibility Exam (it is like part 1 & part 2)

hey,
was just scaning thru this thread.i agree that it is very difficult to get into a canadian international degree program much more diff than the US program. I am currently enrolled into one of these program and believe me it was not easy getting into it....and from wht I see it is getting more and more difficult so tell your friend to really measure all aspects before deciding
