I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter as the whole process of applying to US medical schools as a Canadian applicant is far more complicated than I thought and I'm unsure as to if I should.

Profile:
Indian, male, 22 (turning 23 this year), born and raised in Toronto, Ontario

Attended University of Toronto for a Comparative Physiology Specialist and have a strong background/course load in molecular biology. Graduated Nov. 2010.

Grades:

Graduated with a cGPA of 2.77 and a sGPA of 3.2.

I was on a full course load for my 2nd and 3rd year but i was only on a 80% course load (took 4 instead of 5 course) for my 4th year.

Wrote MCAT twice, got a 21 first time in Summer 2009. Waiting for the results for second time, but on practice AAMC MCAT I was scoring about 33 (VR 9, PS 11, BS 13).

I will re-write the MCAT if my continued practice on the verbal section increases to 13 (I have learned that I make the same mistake repeatedly and working on changing my test-taking habits).

Extras:
- I volunteered at a hospital for about a semester.
- speak an Indian language
- shadowed a family physician for a year.
- Tutored for 6 years.
-Took care of 2 parents for 8 years so far and an brother who all had medical conditions and our rehabilitated for the most part (chronic ones for my parents, and minor depression for my brother).
-Built my own tutoring company which ran for 3 years and had employed a number of people.
- Built a humanitarian aid organization on my university campus into the largest club which provides local and international aid. Raised nearly $10,000 for medical supplies. Lead over 60 students on humanitarian missions, assisting doctors and dentists, into Costa Rica, Nicagua, and Panama. Won about 6 awards for the club. Club is in its 4th year now.
-Worked for the Students' Union for a year, under the Ministry of Student Relations
-Also helped spur development of humanitarian organizations on 2 other campuses.
-Was a member of the Biology Society for 4 years.
- Was the lead Director for a charity event which raised $35,000.
- Finished 2nd place in a biotech competition sponsored by Astra Zeneca for designing a conceptual prostate diagnostic device.
-Garnered funding for a research proposal from Princess Margaret Hospital, (but unfortunately we hit red tape due to ethical issues over the sample, so the project ceased.)
-Completed research and published as 2nd author on the subject of microbial physiology.

-after i graduated I started or co-founded 3 business. 1 was a success. 2 I left which are still successfully running because I decided that business was not fulfilling and I wanted back in to the health world.

-worked for 1yr in sales at Future Shop so I could earn some pocket money and primarily focus on my future goal.

- I have decided what I wanted in life and now I'm here, just written my MCAT and waiting for the results.

Can someone please advise me as to my next steps to gaining entrance to a medical school? I understand the Caribbean is an option, but i understand that Canadians are finding it tough to complete a residency in the US.

What decisions should I consider?

You have no chance in the US with that GPA.

Depending on your trend in GPA, you have a better chance at UWO/Queens provided you have the last two years at 3.7+
