Cheechoo only adopted the novelty account. Haiku was born in it.

Could you name a few md schools whose decisions start on oct 15?. I thought some schools rejected in august

yes! you interviewed there recently as well right?

Yes I did. I interviewed on the last date in September. I wonder if they will get to late September interviewees by Oct. 16. Probably not. There's another review day on the 17th though, and one on the 31st, so hopefully I will be in one of those groups.

Acceptances start 10/15. Rejections start whenever schools want.

Ok, but what mds accept on oct 15?

I'd imagine all of the rolling schools do. Loyola and Drexel for sure.

Essentially all of them. There are schools with preset dates for admission decisions which gives the appearance that early applicants don't have an advantage. In reality, all early applicants have an advantage over later applicants with little regard to "rolling admissions".

I remember some people from last years thread also interviewed in late september like you, and they actually heard back on the 16th! So you might hear then, or yea, the 17th or 31st if they weren't able to get to it yet

Anybody apply ED? To me, that sounds like a very risky strategy, unless that one school is your only choice.

I know of these schools for sure:

University of Kentucky
University of Louisville
University of Colorado
John Hopkins
USUHS

Many other state schools with rolling admissions also start announcing Oct. 15 for regular acceptance.

Schools that wait until March:

Harvard
Duke

Many other top rated schools that do not have a rolling admissions could be added to that list.

As far as the Oct. 15th thing, keep in mind it is the earliest date you can be notified of acceptance for non-EDP. This doesn't mean that everyone will be notified that early and many people with II do not have their interviews until after Oct. 15th so they are usually told when they will be notified at the interview.

Hopkins starts acceptances in December now. I wish it was October 15 though.

Anybody come up with a clever Facebook status for your first acceptance?
haha! sad but i've totally been thinking about this. don't want to get ahead of myself tho..

Down to eight, perhaps I can get myself thinking about this semester again rather than always thinking about next fall.

Seven more days to live through before decision day. I have a bad feeling that though I've got enough interviews, I'm going to be rejected everywhere again. Please let this pre-med torture end in a week!

I bet yall don't hear anything on the 15th 🙂

I'll probably feel bad if that ends up being true though

Thank goodness I have a hellish ~10 days coming up of school to distract myself from obsessing 10/15...

On second thought, I've been replaying the phone call when senioritis takes over and I zone out for 20 minutes :bang:

Trust me, I'm going to be a Doctor!

Washu students have tshirts that say something like "trust me im a washu med student". Pretty sure theyre serious about it too.

I definitely look forward to it; however, I'm not going to be doing the "GREAT NEWS, GUYS! I'M GONNA BE A XYZ! WOOOOO!" facebook/twitter posts...

Whether it is about being a doctor, pharmacist, or dentist -- those posts always make me cringe. Right along with the folks changing their profile pics to them in a white coat and/or with a stethoscope around their neck.

Ah I think it is kind of nice to see friends on Facebook get into grad/professional school. Yeah if they are arrogant about it or post 10,000 statuses then it is annoying.

I agree with this. If you get accepted to a program, especially if it is your #1 pick, I sure hope you're excited about it. If anything warrants a Facebook update to tell your friends/family this would be it. Of course, it doesn't have to be "OMG IM GONNA BE A DOCTOR LOLZ YEEEEEESSSSSSS!" but something like "Just got accepted to X Medical School!" is perfectly appropriate, imo. It would get quite annoying if you did this for every school though, so be considerate, especially with multiple acceptances.

Same goes for the white coat ceremony. I think it's a pretty big event getting your 'official' medical gear. Residence placement, etc. are also times I think would be perfectly appropriate, and not cringe-worthy.

Yea, different strokes for different facebook folks. They are more than welcome to post up their acceptance with as many "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as facebook will allow them to utilize.

By all means, I'll give them the "like" that they're [often] seeking, but -- just so they know -- I'll cringe while doing it. :meanie:

I don't really care how my friends write about their successes. I'd much rather hear about them getting into 20 different schools than see all the posts about what they are about to eat for dinner (pic included of course). 🙂

Qft 👍

I'm in the "it's nice to see my friends succeed" camp as long as they don't over do it. Example: I know a guy who's trying to get into law school. He took the LSAT yesterday and posted his score. Now, I'm not a big fan of sharing numbers with others (GPA, MCAT, etc.), but that's not too bad of an offensive. You can be proud of your accomplishments. However, it was a practice LSAT... :smack:

i'm hoping to hear back from 4 schools on the 15th! GULP!

So remember when you were a kid and you were about to go on an exciting trip, like Disney World?

Well, apparently waiting for the 15th is like that times 7, seeing as everyone seems to be awake in the middle of the night.

For me it's: remember when you were an adult, 3 months ago and were about to go to Disney World!?

But agreed. 7 times worse!

I interviewed at a school last week, but I doubt they'll get back to me next week. I can hope though.

Add U of Arizona, Phoenix. But they are scheduled to let people from the first two interview groups know on the 16th, not the 15th.

I have not yet interviewed at other MD schools. OHSU won't be until 10/26. After that one, I am done with the interview trail.

Lol, yeah didn't have to be DisneyWorld just anywhere you were excited to go. I just noticed that about five people were all posting in the middle of the night on this thread.

This isn't like waiting for a trip.. we don't even know that we'll get in, whereas you know for sure the trip is on and its just a matter of counting down the days. Waiting for oct 15 is like waiting for your mcat score while listening to justin bieber on repeat.

 Yeah, I was just referring to the inability to sleep. You are right though, its much worse because basically your parents said, "Get packed, do your chores, and if we like you that day then we might take you on that trip, otherwise we'll take your neighbor friend".
