Univ of Missouri-Columbia rejection today. Do you guys care putting ur credentials? just want to know what made the difference. I am IMG, PGY2, small community hosp, good score and research, still rejection. thx

you'd be surprised to note that there are many people like you..😱 ( just kidding)

I did receive the rejection from Univ of Missouri Columbia. I am an IMG at a big IM program ( top 10-15 if any one cares). I have had about 9 rejections till now and only have two interviews. Scores are 99/99 if that means anything..
extensive research, outstanding letters ( based on what I am told).

And I am on the notorious H1 B visa- that does not help either.

I have been guilty of being a silent observer on this board for too long I guess.

Thanks for the reply. I got 6 rejections so far (should add rush and another one which i didn't sent extra money to).

I am a PGY3, IMG, no visa issues, small community program, decent scores(>90), decent letters, around 20 small and moderate publications(none in major journals, mostly case reports, 4 original work), applied for 44 programs(looking for academics only)

I had my share of rejections and its very frustrating guys. I am sure there are more rejections to come. But this one IV helps to feel better. It tells me not to despair and I believe it. Chances of my matching are still low. Lets see what is in store for tomorrow. Lets see how the cookie crumbles. Good luck to all of you.

Hi guys, I'm thinking about applying for cardiology later. I will be doing 1 years of research after residency. I think it will help with academic programs, but does research hurt my chances at community programs? thanks.

I too am guilty of trolling the forum and not contributing any posts. FIVE pages this is awesome! So far I have 7 interviews 5 rejections, and waiting to hear from >25. Have not heard anything in the "busy" first week of Feb. Maybe with ERAS down the floodgates will open next week. GL everyone!

do you mind sharing your credentials with us? 7 interviews already is impressive. 👍

I am currently a chief resident at community program univeristy affiliated,IMG,no visa issues, 5 abstarcts in ACC,Few poster presentations,1 manuscript submitted(awaiting response) - No Interviews so far.Very depressing.
Wondering if any of one have any input about doing 1 yr heart failure and transplant fellowship. Will doing the heart failure increase your chances of getting into cardiology.
Appreciate any response.

There are 3 UMDNJ-associated programs. There is UMDNJ-NJMS, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson, and Camden/UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson. Among these 3 cardiology programs, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson is considered to be the best (at least, according to US News & World Report). Hope this information helps. Good luck.

Its a funny process. I was under the impression BUMC was a much "better" program than Georgetown. I got an invite from the Bulldogs but am waiting on all the Boston places.

Georgetown HOYAS; not bulldogs. 😀

U r right..that BUMC is a much better program than Georgetown...but u r equally right in saying that it is a funny process. I guess programs are using lottery system!!!!

I guess there are some people aleady went to Interviews. I will hve my firt one this week. But I have a doubt here, since research is so important for the fellowships, is it ok to say my career goal is private practice? Or i need to pretend to like research a lot?

Ohio State: Rejection............

4 rejections today and its only 2:19pm

UC Irvine
Case-Metrohealth
Ohio State
Wash U

Can this day get any worse?

I must say I have noticed a disturbing trend, the same people are getting rejected to the same places. I am included in that group. Guess we all must have similar red flags that are preventing us from getting interviews at places that I thought were within reach.

synergy, can you elaborate on the trend you've noticed? which places are you referring to? any thoughts about what the red flags may be?

i think that its mostly got to do with H1B VISA status...
cardiology programs can be very prejudicial as my PD told me today..

I am an AMG, so I have no visa issues. The trend I have noticed is that for the most part there are a bunch of us not getting the same interviews at both top tier and middle tier programs.
