For discussion of the school noted above. This includes questions, etc. Threads will be merged in here if they are created on their own.

We are doing this to cut down on the traffic of threads so it makes it easier for people to find information about a school.

hey everyone, did a search but couldnt find any info. for those of you that have heard back from ccom, how long did it take after your file was complete to hear back about interview/reject/hold/etc..thanks in advance for the info.

My aacomas was mailed out, and then a little more than a week later, I received my arbitrary rejection for not having a 2.75, despite my 3.4 in my last 90 semester-hours, and my 33P.

Complete ~ 8/20
Invite 9/20

the admissions member told me that you should hear somehwere in the realm of 3-4 weeks...which is indicated by the previous poster

wow, so its typically 3-4 weeks for any school i guess. dmu seems to be about 3 weeks as well

yeah, i think so too...its proally cuz DO schools have less applications as compared with MD schools...MD schools take like 2 months!!..plus their admissions officers are meaner, at least the ones i've come across.

I'm instate for CCOM..hopefully i hear favorably back from them....although i really like NSU...

Does anyone have an inkling of the ratio of accepted after an interview invite. They refused to give data to US News.

Can anyone go into details about CCOM's curriculum? Thanks.

So I was complete back in early July (15th I think) and I have yet to hear back from them. It's definitely my top choice and it's just frustrating, especially since I live in IL......😡

what specifically do you want to know about their curriculum?

Well, I'm not sure whether it's lecture based or problem-based. All I'm really sure of is that you have 2 tests a week. I'm just wondering what a typical day is like, how are the classes structured, what is special about its curriculum? There was a thread about the goods and bads of some schools, but I heard CCOM changed its curriculum so I just want to know what people think of the current system that's all.

Make that three votes for midway. O'Hare is a monster. Even though it is geographically closer to Downers Grove, it would probably be a little easier finding your way around the airport itself. The hotels near Ohare are a little better though.

I wish they'd hurry up and finish the I-88 construction. It's been going on for years now!!!

I'm not too sure about how their curriculum was like but I'm pretty sure you don't always have 2 tests every single week. As far as I know they are all lecture based. The pros of ccom are probably their clinical roatations. They rotate at some of the best hospitals in the country. If you want specifics I'd head over to their class thread... every student I've met has been extremely nice and willing to answer any question you may have.

i just visited CCOM for an interview and they said they are working to revamp their curriculum a bit to make it more problem-based. currently it is majority lecture-based with some supplementary small group workshops to look at clinical correlates and such, but they are looking to make PBL a more established, integrated part of the curiculum. hope that helps--

As an MS-I at CCOM, I can answer a few questions for you. No, we don't always have 2 exams every week. In fact, this week we had 2 written exams, 3 practical exams and a biochem quiz.😱 After this week, we have at least one exam, usually more, (and always a biochem quiz weekly) every week until finals.
The classes are mostly lecture based. Biochem is experimenting some and adding workshop groups that meet twice weekly to work on clinical lab type problems.
We spend 4 hours/week in OMM for every quarter for the first two years. Our anatomy class/lab has the reputation of being one of the most intense anatomy classes in the country.
Classes, including labs, usually start at 8 or 9am and end about 4pm. We have a rotating anatomy schedule, so you do have one afternoon/week off.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Despite the intense schedule and very intense exam schedule, I think it is a great school and will prepare us very well.
One more bit of info: we do get early patient/clinical exposure starting the second quarter of our first year and continuing.
God luckto everyone.

So my AACOMAS was complete the first week of July... I already have 2 acceptances, but I am starting to realize I am interested in CCOM as well. I really really want to be in a more urban environment and I think Chicago would be a great fit. Would it be too late to add it?

Thanks!

I don't think so. It's still fairly early, your primary is already verified, and you have good stats/exp. I'd do it! :luck:!!

Can someone enlighten me on the clinical exposure during the first two years?

Does anyone remember the handout they gave us during the interview day that had the states highlighted that students had gone to for residency? My question is there were some states that were white, such as MA. They said the list was for the past 10 years(or did anyone else hear differently?). I am trying to figure out why CCOM, being as old and established in the osteopathic world, did not match in certain places like MA? Any thoughts?

I do not think the list was for the past 10 years. I will ask on Monday.

i called today..the admissions committee met last week! I tried to find out if I got accepted but they only communicate status via snail mail. hopefully, the interact now web page will be updated.

thats good news for everyone who has recently interviewed. Think the mail will make it for something else to be thankful for on thanksgiving? :luck:

^^not a thing.. even my admissions counselor on the interact now hasn't replied to me, and its been a few days..

My Interact Now account Changed today. I had to login to the Accepted Students page and use the info I received from AZCOM to find out. Hope this helps. I just wish they got back to us a little faster 😉

Will CCOM give status updates over the phone? I know they won't for acceptances. I've been complete for three weeks so I was thinking of calling next week to find out where I stand.

Okay I just called. They don't do status checks over the phone but she said you can e-mail them and ask and they will get back to you as soon as they can. HTH!

Thanks! I sent an email last week, no reply.. maybe i'll send another today.. i just don't want to look like a crazy person either haha 🙂

Give 'em a call it couldn't hurt. My friend was told it could take up to 6 weeks to process everything.
