Hey folks, lets start posting info for the CDC EIS season of this year. Interview invitations, interview experience. Experience from past applicants is also welcome. Anyone reapplying? Non MDs? Lets share experience and anxiety :c)

Interviewed last week! This is my first time applying, but I heard that reapplying is encouraged. PM me if you have questions.

(p.s. like the username! Are you from Brazil?)

Hi manta, I am due for an interview this coming monday, Nov 4. Would really like to get in touch with you to share your experiences. Please let me know how

Interviewed there this past Monday. That place is mind blowing. Loved it. Lets keep each other posted when we get answers so we dont all die from anxiety :c)

What are some good online resources about the CDC EIS? I'm still an undergrad, so I have some time.

Most of what I learnt about it, came from their website. Just google it, take a look at the EIS conferences each year, the profile of people admitted and so on. It is really an exciting opportunity

Hi beijaflor,

I live in Brazil now, but I'm from the US originally. I'm hoping that the notifications come out in early December (rather than late December)!

IDLH, I agree with beijaflor...check out the EIS conference booklet if you want to get an idea of what EIS officers do during their 2 year stint.

Yes! I got an email to call on Friday afternoon. It sounds like the call list was divvied up among a number of people and the first calls started going out on Thursday afternoon.
Congrats!! I'm still waiting :/ I am doubtful for my chances because I have a PhD and not an MD. Regardless, I'm surprised they emailed first? Do they call and email to confirm a time to talk?

They emailed me first because I live overseas. My understanding is that they generally call people directly. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long the calling process takes. There has been a waitlist in previous years, but I don't know when they let people know about it. Good luck!!

Well, still no call and after nine days of business day calling opportunities, I doubt I was accepted this year. However, I'm wondering if any rejection emails have been sent? Does anyone know this by chance?

Thanks!

Many thanks for the info TrixMD...who knows which of the three groups I'm in, the waiting game continues!

thanks Trixmd and manta for all the updates you guys are giving us. At least something to look forward to everyday now. I am one of those still waiting to hear from them.

And the wait continues:

I haven't heard either way yet but its almost Christmas so I'm not hopeful- but am quite anxious. I really wanted it! Does anyone know when they send out the rejections?

Same here, I haven't heard anything. Trixmd (see above) said that at least some rejections were sent out. Since it wasn't a quick "no" I'm hoping that it will be a slow "yes"....or "maybe".......

I received an email for the waiting list/prematch yesterday. Does anyone know anything about this? The chances of getting off the wait list? When that might happen?

Same here, I feel fortunate to still have a shot. Anyone know stats on the percentage of waitlisters that end up with a spot? Similarly, anyone have an idea of the proportion of offers made from EIS that get accepted vs. rejected by prospective officers.

Congrats to all who got in! My husband is hoping to visit the conference in April and apply for next year, so maybe he'll meet you. As we get ready for the process, I'd love to hear your experiences. My husband is finishing his dissertation in environmental and occupational epidemiology, but he's not an MD or anything. He'd actually like to work with NIOSH rather than on the infectious side and we've heard there are fewer applicants interested in those positions.

Any tips on the application? When did they contact you for October interviews? If anyone is willing to share their experiences, I'd appreciate it! And congrats again! It's a big deal to be selected and I know that means you're the top.

Yes, it will be very helpful to hear interview experiences, tips on application etc. as one prepares the application for the next round. Thanks
