Hi beijaflor,
I live in Brazil now, but I'm from the US originally. I'm hoping that the notifications come out in early December (rather than late December)!
IDLH, I agree with beijaflor...check out the EIS conference booklet if you want to get an idea of what EIS officers do during their 2 year stint.

Wonderful news, congrats! I'm still waiting...do you now how long the "calling process" will take?Got the call on Thursday!
Congrats!! I'm still waiting :/ I am doubtful for my chances because I have a PhD and not an MD. Regardless, I'm surprised they emailed first? Do they call and email to confirm a time to talk?Yes! I got an email to call on Friday afternoon. It sounds like the call list was divvied up among a number of people and the first calls started going out on Thursday afternoon.

Do you know how long the calling process will take? Meaning, when should one accept they need to apply again next year...Howdy! I'm EIS11 - I heard that notifications started going out this week. Good luck to all.
They emailed me first because I live overseas. My understanding is that they generally call people directly. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long the calling process takes. There has been a waitlist in previous years, but I don't know when they let people know about it. Good luck!!
I appreciate the updates also and congrats to those who have heard good news. Is the notification deadline Jan 1?
Let's stay hopeful!!Many thanks for the info TrixMD...who knows which of the three groups I'm in, the waiting game continues!
I haven't heard either way yet but its almost Christmas so I'm not hopeful- but am quite anxious. I really wanted it! Does anyone know when they send out the rejections?
Same here, I haven't heard anything. Trixmd (see above) said that at least some rejections were sent out. Since it wasn't a quick "no" I'm hoping that it will be a slow "yes"....or "maybe".......I haven't heard either way yet but its almost Christmas so I'm not hopeful- but am quite anxious. I received an email for the waiting list/prematch yesterday. Does anyone know anything about this? The chances of getting off the wait list? When that might happen?
Same here, I feel fortunate to still have a shot. Anyone know stats on the percentage of waitlisters that end up with a spot? Similarly, anyone have an idea of the proportion of offers made from EIS that get accepted vs. rejected by prospective officers.I received an email for the waiting list/prematch yesterday. Congrats to all who got in! My husband is hoping to visit the conference in April and apply for next year, so maybe he'll meet you. As we get ready for the process, I'd love to hear your experiences. My husband is finishing his dissertation in environmental and occupational epidemiology, but he's not an MD or anything. He'd actually like to work with NIOSH rather than on the infectious side and we've heard there are fewer applicants interested in those positions.
Any tips on the application? When did they contact you for October interviews? If anyone is willing to share their experiences, I'd appreciate it! And congrats again! It's a big deal to be selected and I know that means you're the top.
