Wondering what my chances would be to get into any of the Texas Medical Schools? I will not be applying until next round, however I currently have a 3.93 gpa (but I would also like to know my chances if my gpa dropped to say a 3.75), and a 4.0 science gpa. I have recived a 515 on the new MCAT.
I also work in direct patient care as a PCT, and have over 1000 hours doing so.
I also have about 20 hours of shadowing. . .
15 hours pathology
20 hours dermatology
40 hours neurology
30 hours othropedic surgery
20 hours psychiatry
15 hours cardiology
10 hours pediatrics
40 hours pharmacy

I also forgot to add that I have about 100 hours of volunteering with a local free clinic

Thank you! I'm hoping I can keep my gpa similar to what it is now, but just wondering in case! I figured I had more shadowing than nessecary, but I had to have at least 80 hours for my school anyways!

Looking good so far --

Since you've got shadowing and clinical rare covered, if you don't have any sort of altruistic volunteering or leadership, start working on building that. Or combine the two by initiating a charitable program of some sort --

Also, I am reminded of a recent post here where the applicant was faced with getting relatively weak letters of recommendation from professors who barely knew him/her. If you feel you may end up in that position, take pro-active steps to make yourself known to your professors so they'll be able to write about you enthusiastically.

But if you're in state, you appear to be in good shape.
