I took my first MCAT this past summer and I got a 26 (8/8/10). (Horrid, I'm aware.)

I signed up for a re-take on Mar24.
I wanna change it to Apr5 (+12 days) or Apr13 (+20 days).

I'm in the middle of SN2d3idkf's schedule right now, and I'll be done with content review Feb15. From Feb15-Mar23rd I would've (ATTEMPTED!) to go through ~5 practice tests (which would consist of Kaplan PT 1-5, because I wasted all the AAMC's for my first attempt at the MCAT) and finish up the last 3rd of all the TBR passages.

I feel as if I'll fail to complete the practice tests + 3rd TBR passages within the constraints of Feb15-Mar23rd. Also, I want to do some more practice/review than just that (likeee more EK1001, brushing up on the TBR chapters, going through those thin books like MCAT 45, and probably an addition practice test).

I'm still on Winter Break, and I've had no trouble sticking to the 3 month schedule. But the semester's coming up, and although I'm only taking 7 hours this semester (all pass/fail btw) --- I still fear for my future.

Am I being neurotic/irrational/typical. Should I just stick to Mar24 or move it. 🙂

Advice is much appreciated.

April 13th is still a pretty early test date.

If you feel like the additional time is going to help you, then go for it.

Also, I would recommend retaking the AAMC's closer to your test date. I don't think you will remember the material from them and they'll still be good practice.

You think it should be an even later test date than Apr13? And I'll def give AAMC another shot. Have been reading alot of negative things about re-using them, but I really benefitted from them breaking all the questions down by topic/difficulty/allthat.

You took the practice exams so long ago..last year right? You are not going to remember much from them..trust me. Also yes. April is a pretty early date still...there no point in taking it only 12 days later...what's the rush? Since you are retaking you want to make sure you are going to do very well. I would event suggest the later May test date if you still want to be on the early side in terms of completing the MCAT to apply but still give yourself enough time to prepare for the test and feel ready.

Okay, how about this.

March 24 is still 2.5 months away.

What is your current schedule/timeline and how will it change if you move the date?

Do you have stuff planned out well right now? Not enough 'free days' to compensate for heavy academic workload? Or do you not have enough days built in for when, not if, you fall behind a little bit?

There's no big deal with moving the test back, but you need to figure out how you're going to use that time. You seem to have a plan, but I feel like you're jumping the gun a little so far out. Are you sure you're not just overthinking things and psyching yourself out?

How far along are you?

I'm halfway through TBR content review (Ch.5 across all subjects), and I plan to be finished with CR around mid-February. That's including breaks.

However after that - I just don't believe I'll be able to fit in all the practice that I need. I want to complete ~3 more practice tests, finish the entire EK1001 series, and run through more drills.

I think I'm going to move it to Apr28 or May12.
Thanks for the input, guys.
