Hi everyone!

Curious to hear how your programs are approaching IMG recruitment this year. For some context, ours is an academic community program, and we’ve traditionally considered ourselves very IMG-friendly.

Given the recent visa changes and the uncertainty around the visa landscape, our program is considering either offering fewer interviews to IMGs this season or potentially not offering interviews to IMGs at all. I’m trying to get a sense of what other programs are doing so that I can better understand the broader landscape and advocate for continuing to recruit IMGs.

For transparency, we have had some scheduling/onboarding issues in the past with interns starting late due to visa-related delays, but nothing particularly significant or unmanageable.

Would love to hear what other programs are considering, and whether anyone has made changes to their recruitment strategy this year.

Hi! Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to ask if your program would still consider US Citizen IMGs? Since they aren't hamstrung by visa issues.

Over the last few years I’ve noticed our hospital that usually welcomes a moderate amount of IMGs across all specialties each year is getting less and less. There hasn’t been a policy change that I’ve noticed but I’m sure the external pressures have made it more difficult.
