Has anyone been invited to a interview at Drew yet? And if so what was it like, what kind of questions did they ask. Also does anyone know how the process at Drew works. I heard they get about 2000 apps....they send out 500 secondaries.....and interview 100 applicants.......accept double the class size so around 50 students. if anyone knows please hit me up.

Holla

from what i remember at the interview...a little under 2000 applications, 1000 secondaries, 240 interviews, and traditionally they ended up sending out 50 acceptances. i believe they have had only two interview groups so far (not sure though), one in mid-december and one last weekend, with around ~40 students each time. so they're still early in the interview process i would guess, so if you really want to go there, no need to worry.

interview is pretty straight forward. no surprising questions or anything. very laid back, with a lot of free time to talk to everyone. hope that helps.

check the interview feedback site on sdn.

Why is it that the people who have interviewed for this year not put up any interview feedback. I'm sure they have read others so why not share and share alike?

Holla

Hey verbalassasin,
I attended the last week's interview. We had about 40 people show up. My interview lasted for about an hour and 15 min, which I thought was unusually long. However, the interview was very laid back and no tough and tricky questions really. I was asked about everything pertaining to my application. After going to the interview, checkin' out the hospital and talking to the students and dean, it seemed like the people on SDN really exagerrated Drew's problems. All their problems are very fixable if they have better funding. But oh well, I guess that's where the main problem lies.

So when is your interview? PM me if you have more questions.

Good Luck

Cheers

Good looking out Mosfet, I heard that long interviews are the best ones. They typically are indicators of what the intiviewer will be reccomending to the admissions commitee. Good luck and hopefully we will be entering the class of 2004 together.

Um, funding is being cut for the UCs, remember that little detail? It's still a gamble, my friend.

hey verbalassasin. i was at the interview last week as well. there's really nothing for me to post because again, it was just a laid back interview. no surprising questions, everything you would expect them to ask. unlike mosfet though, my interview was really short. i think it just depends on your interviewer though.

hey mosfet, where you in the first or second hospital tour group?

anyway, feel free to pm me you have any specific questions. can't promise you anything, but i'd love to help.

Everyday my Drew interview draws near, so I should expect a laid back interview. Did anyone get interviewed by Dr. Miller? or any faculty or where they all students.

Holla

both faculty and students and some administrators. dr. miller also interviews. im sure no matter what youll be fine. just believe in yourself. relax. and be yourself. obviously the main point is why you believe in the mission and how you have shown it. they might ask you about grades. they just need to know if you really want to be there. good luck.

I went to an interview at Drew recently and it was very interesting and informative. One thing I found suprising is that on the tour of the hospital...it was great...except there were NO DOCTORS and NO PATIENTS. It was like a tour of an empty hospital. We toured entire in-patient floors like OB-Gyn, SICU, NICU, etc and nobody was there. Very bizarre. Dr. Miller was awesome...he's a great guy, and hopefully the school can get beyond the current problems. But an empty hospital is not a hospital that is ideal to teach students. Who knows, maybe it was a weird day.
One other thing that bothers me about Drew is kind of trivial...but it still bugs me: The Freaking letters that the school sends out about interviews are FULL of typos and grammatical mistakes. I mean come on, if you are gonna invite someone for an interview..at least freaking proof-read the form letter that you are using. I mean some of the mistakes are down right bad. One line says "We consider you a qualified candidate for medical school therefore, you have been granted an interview and we would like for you to be interviewed." Wow, nice sentence. Not that it matters whether someone proofed the letter, but it doesn't exactly sooth someones already present worries about a hospital and school that is in turmoil.

well its obvious the proofreader's position was cut to save the school some extra cash. 😀

Has anyone been accpeted to Drew yet? waitlisted, rejected? inquring minds want to know.

they have sent anything yet. mid-feb maybe.

I think if you have an interview to UCLA or Drew you have a great chance of getting in....make it a 50-50 chance of getting. Alot better than the 1.2% chance from the AAMCAS application chance for drew. Good luck to all of you.

thanks verbalassasin....i have an interview on feb. 28th.....keeping my fingers crossed for everyone....have a great weekend and stay positive.....

Congrats to all of you who have an upcoming interview at Drew! Don't worry..it was really a very laid back experience and they are very cordial over there.

For those who interviewed on Dec 18th...any news yet? We should be hearing back from them this month and so I was just curious as to if they have started notifying applicants on acceptances, waitlists or rejections.

This process is so....:scared: ..nerve-wracking! I just want to know what my status is and I hate the waiting process 🙁

Hey Mike...how's it going? Yeah, I haven't heard anything from Drew yet either but we'll probably hear end of this month.

As for UCLA...my interview is coming up on Feb 19th....pray for me!!! Good luck with everything and keep me updated on where you think you'll end up!

Besides sending thank you notes did you guys make any other contact with the school post-interview?

Hey Luwi,
Why don't you call 'em up and find out? They said 6 weeks and its past 6 weeks now. I think you can start bugging them now.

So Drew and UCLA have not accepted anyone yet? well my interview is on the 28th hopefully it won't be long before my acceptance goes out. Good luck to all of ya.

I think that I might do that..call em' up to see what's up. Maybe I'll give it 2 more weeks and then call. I just know that they're overwhelmed with admissions and the problems at King County....so I'll give it a bit more time.

Has anyone else called to check their status?

Does anyone know someone who was rejected to Drew?

No..I haven't heard of any rejections yet. I hope that it won't be me! I'm sure everyone that interviewed Dec 18th is a nervous-wreck cuz we're due to hear from them VERY soon (like in 1-2 weeks). :scared:

1-2 wks? is that just speculation or official feedback from your sources? thanks.

I am talking about post-interview.

And 1-2 weeks is actually when last years class first heard of acceptances from Drew. They had interviewed right after Thanksgiving and acceptances were sent out right before Valentine's day.

But this year, since the first interview was Dec 18th, we should hear back about 2 weeks from now (for acceptances). The others that are waitlisted or rejected hear back months from now only. And many from last years class (and current Drew students) tell me that "waitlisted" at Drew basically means rejection because they hardly accept from the waitlist but waitlist SO MANY.

Let us know if any of y'all hear back from Drew.

I might be wrong but is the 28th not on a saturday.😀

thanks luwi. good luck all.

supereagles, yes the 28th is saturday. for the most part drew interviews one saturday per month. with something around 40 or more interviewees. hope that helps.

No problem Trojan2004.

Wow! Drew interviews around 40 interviewees??? During my interview in Dec...there were only about 23 or 24 of us and I thought THAT was a lot. Considering tha they only accept 24 individuals into the class, you'd think that they would interview less applicants.

Hm? 😕

yup! i know dec was kind of small (<30) compared to what they had in jan (~40). im imagining that it will be more than 40 on feb 28. kind of scary...lots of interviews for just 24 spots. i guess they want the best they can get and find people who really want to be there and are proud of drew and committed to their mission...i know some people think its a way to be at ucla and stay in LA. well that's sad if they get accepted.

mid feb, we from the first group should hear soon. any news?

no news yet 😕

I have a question for the first group of interviewees? Can you guys recall if there were any out-of-state interviewees. I know there were 3 of them including me among the second round of interviewees.

Okay..so my Drew interview was back in December and I just couldn't wait any longer and so I just sporadically called them yesterday to see what's up....AND they told me that no decisions have been made yet and to just...wait...and wait...and wait...:meanie:

It's been so long...and I'm so curious!! I hate waiting...🙁

Hey Luwi I feel you about the wait but probably they are just waiting to see me first before they send out acceptances....lol I am playing. May be this year The last interview group is in march and they want to make a real final decision on their 24 spots. Be patient man I am just glad that I have my two interviews Drew being my first and Meharry my second next month. Good luck man.

congrats verb!

maybe they do want to wait till they interview everyone and get a good group of 24. but it sux to wait. argghhhh.

That would make sense for them to wait (and make me wait at the same time!) but last years class, they didn't do that. Last year's first interview group heard back from Drew mid-Feb (that was for those who recieved acceptance offers)...I'm not sure why they'd change it this year.

Hey, Verb, good luck at Meharry....I interviewed there back in November and thought that Nashville was awesome! Those people out there are so nice and humble...way different from LA. Let us know how it flies okay? 🙂

Drew only gives you 5 days to accept an offer of acceptance, That is so classic. I just know if they accept me they are getting a phone call and I will walk my letter of intent to the office the day it comes in.

good luck with your drew interview on feb 28th verbalassasin.......you'll do great!!!!
