In a few past posts and by talking to a few people they have mentioned that Chem II is a really difficult class, some even suggest it's harder than Ochem. What is the general experience from you guys who have taken these classes?

What makes Chem II hard? Is it the the conceptual understanding or the math/problem solving aspect?

I am planning to take this class in the summer while working ~20 hrs on the weekends, what do you guys think on this situation?

Thanks,

Eddie

People like you are the reason why "pre-med" have a negative connotation, rather than positive.

I Ace'd Gen Chem II, O Chem I & II.

Short version is be smart & adapt to any new situation and you'll be fine.

I thought this was the easiest of all my Chem classes. . .it was the same plug and chug problems, just applied to different concepts. And I took this while I was working 40 hrs/week too. . .but, I was the only person in my class that thought it was easy too, soooo yeah. . . .

Chem II is NOT harder than OCHEM.

Chem II is NOT harder than OCHEM.

Depends on strengths and weaknesses, I know several people that can't do math problems to save their life, hence they struggled at Chem II. Those same people aced organic. Everybody is different, but I think pre-meds make organic worse than it actually is by listening to all the hype before ever attending class. Both were easy for me

chem 2 is easy. Equilibrium, A/B equations, redox, batteries, solubility...

most of it is empirical and you just need to know how to set up equations properly.

i honestly hold the notion that the difficulty of a class depends entirely on the professor you are taking.

i got an A in chem II but i have friends who are taking it now with a different prof than i had and after looking at their exams I don't think I would have done well at all. 75% of their exams are multiple choice and each question is worth 5 points. so you miss 3 are you're already out of the A range (unless they get extra credit or something)

Chem 2 is not hard my friend. I think people freak out about it because of the math...You'll have the weekdays to study for it which is a P-L-E-N-T-Y of time. I'd say go for it.

In some schools gen chem 2 and 3 are switched, so it is really depends.

In my school during 2nd chem we were learning equilibrium, redox rxns, buffers and etc. All this stuff is doable, and i cant say that it is hard, math background will help in this coarse.
