I'll be there come Jan 16th. Got my email last night. Does anyone know anything about where to stay? Best way of travel? Taxi/rental/shuttle? I'll be coming from L.A. and need to start making arrangements....all I know so far is to pack thick, warm coats.

Thanks and best of luck to you guys.

finally! an interview invite for feb 18th, anyone else got the e-mail????

I'm so nervous going so far away from home.

I got this message!

Dear Darius,

This email is to inform you that your application is currently complete and up for review. If invited for an interview you will be notified via email. Interviews are now scheduled to begin in January and go until early April. You may be contacted anytime in between. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Idk.... I mean, I sent my supplemental back on December 16 and on January 8 I got something saying they hadnt recieved my supplemental yet, but then said they had it like on the 20th.... So idk.... How long after you got this message did you recieve an interview invite?

I got an e-mail on 11/24 (after they received my notarized copy of PTCB).

"This email is to inform you that your application is currently complete and up for review. If invited for an interview you will be notified via email. Interviews are scheduled to begin in December and go until March. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me."

And, today I got the invite.... I wonder how big the interview group is.

Good question... I wonder how long its gonna take for them to get back to me lol. 2 months is a long time.

I don't even know why I'm worried. I went to Niagra Falls/Toronto/Buffalo for a weekend during the second week of Jan (my ex wanted me to see snow) and I gotta tell ya, I was not liking the cold lol. But I guess wherever I get accepted is where I will go... no matter how cold I am.....😳

yeah, it will be cold in Chicago. (I don't remember much from my childhood when I lived there) Now, I need to figure out what to wear!

Actually, the e-mail said the interview is feb 18, 2008!! No wonder it was odd to have it on a Wednesday. I hope she replies back with the correct date! I hope you hear from CSU soon, Pharmdapp87.

Do yourselves a favor.

Bring long underwear + thermo top.

And a scarf.

And gloves.

And a good wind-proof jacket.

And shoes you don't mind getting ruined if you need to stomp through salt/melted snow/dirt.

And a hat/beanie.

And chapstick.

Good luck. :luck:

Thanks for the clothing advice! Amalia replied and said it is still held on Feb 18, 2009 (Wed). I'm GOING! Anyone else?

Well, I hope they get that situated as well. But I have had friends interview on wednesdays too it may not be so bad. I just hope you dont have to miss a test for it. I have a professor that doesnt include interviews in her "excused absences from test" list and I have a friend who has a med interview on the day of our first exam. yikes.

Hopefully they get back to me soon:xf:, that would be really nice

I live outside of Chicago and only decided to apply to Midwestern and UIC this year. I that doesn't get me anywhere, I will cast a broader net next time around. Just curious, can anyone shed some light on how Chicago State's accreditation status affects their program? I have heard that you are taking a gamble on a school that is not accredited and that you can have difficulty qualifying for loans - is that true?

Interview Invite:soexcited: for the 20th of February!

I have an interview for February 18th...will I be seeing anyone from here there?

What do you mean "done my ticket?"
I'm pretty excited for this. I wouldn't mind trying to meet up with some of you guys at the interview. Should be interesting and fun at the same time.

I had my interview on Jan 23. I got the acceptance notification via email yesterday, Feb 6. Here is what I have to say about the whole experience:

Be prepare to endure the cold! FYI, the area is not unsafe at all. Well at least I didn't feel threatened. Also, it's pretty clean and there is security on campus.

We started the day with a meet and greet with the assistant dean, Dr. Ellison, who is very nice and answered all our questions. They have an on-site evaluation in April 2009 for the Candidate Status (that's very exciting!). They have received about 1000 applicants and will accept 87 out of ~230 who will interview. You will have a chance to talk to the students and a tour. The day was very organized.

As for the interview, there will be 2 faculty and a P1. It was about 30 mins long. It's closed file. All the questions were situational questions...like "what would you do if....and how would you address it...". This is where work experiences come in handy. They didn't ask any of the traditional questions. Tip: Be sure to elaborate on your answer because they'll ask you to if you don't.

hey thanks for the info, but can you plz be more specific with what they asked you??? plzzzzz i am so nervous! and if i don't get accepted i am going to die!

Hi Pillpusher

i can't remember all the questions, but 30 mins is a lot of time to ask you lots of questions. here's one:

what would you do if someone in your group didn't pull his/her own weight? (you answer) And what if that didn't work?

Most of these questions are vague, meaning that you're free relate it to anything, such as personal, work or academic experience. Just remember to show confidence as well as sincerity. GL

Hey Since I was the first person that got accepted on here, i guess its only right for me to give yall some idea wat to expect...

They feed u first, then the impressive Asst. Dean talks to u. You know for some reason people look down on this school but I was sooooo very impressed with what I saw. They are very profession as well as cool or say hip. Nothing like the useless idiots at Midwestern. Those fools were just too uptight and evil, Cheesy but illwilled. Ok back to topic. From the schedule the gave u earlier, you would know what group u are in and when u are going to be interviewing or if u are going to be doing the tour first. The diversity in the interview pool was incredible. I dont think any race was represented twice....They even had some Arabain chicks (now yall know thats my flava, lol) Completely the opposite of midwestern. I even met some Cuban chicks that were talking about us checking out some strip club in Chitown (lol,, I was like dang...am gon love this school)

Now on the interview..They are very big on Team work and leadership skills. Its a new school, so they are more likely to take u if there are some skills u gathered as an undergrad that might be useful to the school. I worked for my campus newspaper and I would have loved to be the first person to start a newspaper for the pharmacy school but not anymore. I got accepted to my dream school.

Of course u ought to know why u wanna be pharmacist and u chose CSU for a reason right? Lol, i know its cos u tot it wud be easier to get into..but pls dont tell them that...use the high road, it always works or feel free to get creative with it.

U will be interviewed by 3 people, 2 professors and 1 student. Luckily the student that was in my interview was just tooo hot!!! omg!!! ... I told myself, because of this chick I have to get into this school..Jk guys..Am sure yall can use the comic relief. Dont get intimidated, of course thats the first test. 3 people wud be on one side of the table and with only u on the other side....

I gotta go now, guys..I wish yall gluck. btw am not going to go to CSU, so there is a spot for one more person.

wow, finally other people who are going to the interviews!

so far i know Pharmdapp87 and I will be going to the 20th. I moved from the 18th because I didn't want to take off work in the middle of the week and then go back to work for the rest of the week.

Thanks to those that replied about the interview process. I am so nervous about it too! So, how big is the "group" of students that attend an interview day? 30 mins per person, lunch, a tour and chat w/ the Assistant Dean can all be fit in that time frame?

Other than myself, should I have to bring a notepad or purse? I don't like to carry anything to interviews but I don't want to seem under prepared.... HELP. 🙁

I'm sure they will be able to fit it all in. 5 and half hours is a long time. But yeah, any extra info helps!

hey guys-

i interviewed on Jan 16th and was notified of my acceptance through email on February 6th. blueberri- do you live in chicago? and will you be attending chicago state? I'm pretty sure i will be attending...since i'm on the waiting list at midwestern right now. For those of you who have interviews coming up, don't be too nervous! the people who interview you are soo nice and make you feel comfortable. i would have to say that i agree with everything blueberri wrote- its mostly all situational questions. you have to make sure to explain everything and not just give brief answers cuz they will ask you to elaborate then. a word of advice- some of you may or may not already know this, but think of STAR...which stands for Situation, Task, Actions, Results. Try to answer the questions using this format. Like for example, they will ask you "tell me about a time when you had to work in a group, and someone wasn't pulling their weight-how did you handle it?" Make sure you start from the top and specifically explain the situation that happened to you, mention the things you did to solve the problem, and what happened as a result. hope this helps! Bluemunkie- my group was about 11-12 students. And i brought a purse-it seemed like all the girls did. good luck!

No I don't live in Chicago. I'm from LA. I even brought my luggage to the interview. All you need to bring is warm clothes and your ID. I may be attending this school. What's nice about CSU is the tuition cost! But I'm still on the fence btw this school and one other. What do you think of when choosing: location or tuition cost?! Do you know when is the deadline for the deposit?

Congrats on your acceptance, blueberri and Hell0kitty!!!!!!!

Thanks for answering my question, Hell0kitty. I figured it was about 10-12 students and they're split in two groups. That how it was done at Appalachia last year, except 60 people showed up and the interviews were only 15 mins long. Anyways, I will keep those tips in mind when answering the question.

And, I guess bringing a purse is fine (not that we need to write essays or whatever). Thanks again!

blueberri... isn't out-of-state tuitions insanely high? Or, maybe I haven't been comparing it to other schools because this is the only interview I got so far. Well, I hope you're able to make a decision to go with the school of best fit for you! 🙂

thanks every1 for your help! and congrats on getting accepted, you have no idea how badly i want 2 be accepted! It would mean the world to me! but does any1 remember any more questions? my interview is next week. and if you guys don't mind...for the people who already got accepted whats ur gpa/pcat score/experience, just so i have an idea if i have a chance...ok guys. thanks! if you guys don't feel confortable leaving ur info on here u can always email me if you'd like hqutieme03@ yahoo. com ! ! thank you thank you thank you 😀

Has anyone in-state heard from CSU with regards to the January 16th interviews?
