We're so close. AMCAS opens up in about 8 days. Nothing to do now but to study for the MCAT and fill out the AMCAS. Good luck to all of ya'll. Now it's our turn to wait in the AMCAS line for the next 12 months! haha.

If any of you can, I'd appreciate you taking a look at my MDapp's on the side. Shoot me straight, It's game time!
 
I'm still hoping AMCAS opens a bit early.. they had said as early as the 6th. This week would be nice, cause I would like to go ahead and request my transcript from my university (they aren't mailing til after the 12th anyway) and I'm going home next week for a week vacation.

Does anyone know if we can "request" with last year's form (since I'm a reapplicant)?

Just finished my post bacc with a sparkling 3.9288 BCPM uGPA (combined undergrad and post bacc pre reqs). I usually don't say this, but I'm a little proud of me.

Hoping the end of y'alls year's turn out equally exciting!

MCAT results in 13 days and then its time to get the party rollin!

Thata girl Grad! congrats on whooping your postbacc! Where is home for you?

Since you are a reapplicant, all of your info should still be there. All you would have to do is update things like grades and activities. I know I applied in 06 and when I go into amcas now, all of my stuff is still there.

Well if they don't open it early, we only have a week left until it is officially the beginning of our turn! I'm getting more and more geeked as it gets closer. God bless.

Thanks guys! 🙂🙂 "Home" is the MS Gulf Coast... My parents still have a home there and the rest of my family lives there. I'm excited to be getting a little break before summer starts.
 
so how soon do you guys think would be "too soon" to ask for a LOR from a physician?

i had a great shadowing experience with a cardiologist but only got to stay with him for one day. have any of you guys asked for a LOR after only a couple of shadowing days?

Reapplicants to AMCAS simply use their current AMCAS ID when the new app cycle opens. It will provide you with your previous application for update and eventual resubmission.

when's the earliest you can submit primaries and have AMCAS start processing your application (assuming they have received your transcripts and MCAT scores)?

Their site said May 15th last time I checked.

They reported that it would be around the 6th initially, but then they changed it to the 14th. Darn procrastinators...
 
Seriously. I can't wait till I'm done with my last final on Tuesday, and then to get cracking on the AMCAS.

I already sent out a transcript request to my undergrad via mail (I doctored a 2008 AMCAS transcript request form to say 2009 and the current date to be May 15 2008, and included that). When the 2009 app comes up and if the request form is significantly different, I'm going to just send a second copy with the correct form. No harm, since it doesn't cost me anything.

Now, I'll have to get a expedited request at my current post-bac university as soon as grades are in, but that's not a big deal.

Anyone using Interfolio this year? I'm thinking of signing up for an account. I see that it is $45 over 5 years or $15 for 1 year... and it's $4 for each electronic delivery. I was wondering if Interfolio accepts paper submissions, as 4 of my LORs and the committee letter will
be on file at my current university's Career Services. So, could I have all of these letters sent to Interfolio via paper, and then go from there? It certainly seems more simple than having Career Services mail it out (flat fee plus the shipping materials) and would also be quicker (faster turnaround time).
 
I'm using interfolio this year. so far it seems very easy compared to the leg work I did individually sending everything last year (no letter service at my university)
 
So, now I'm officially a member of the (hopefully) 2013 class since this year didn't work out. I guess that means I have to update my PS to include whatever the hell I've been doing for the past year. Anyone else in the same boat?
 
I guess im in yalls shoes...I applied EAP as a junior and didnt get in.
 
I applied in 2006 and got rejected. So I guess that means I am in the same shoes.

You are right Grad, this is OUR year! 👍 As long as we keep faith in HIM, we will be golden! 😀 AMCAS opening, 2 days and counting.

two days! wow!

just got a great summer job opportunity laid in my lap. I talk to my boss about it next week.... 4 days a week, 8-5, cushy secretary stuff. I'll be shadowing the other day. somewhat excited about starting this summer business and savin money for med school🙂

Okay... anyone have a mac? I can NOT get AMCAS to work on my computer.. I downloaded Mozilla and Netscape twice, and it STILL says my browser is unsupported.

Hmm..I tried the 2008 app on Netscape and it worked fine. Are they the most recent versions?

Google the "User Agent Switcher" extension for Firefox, and use that to "switch" to Internet Explorer or Netscape when you want to use AMCAS. Basically, it doesn't make any difference whether or not it is Mozilla or something else... which is stupid on the part of AMCAS, to be blocking OSX Mozilla. Everything works properly, at least for the 2008 application.

Anyone else checking AMCAS every hour? I can't wait to get started on the application!

Quick question for those of us graduating this semester.... do we have to wait until our degree is posted on our transcript before sending it to AMCAS?
