I talked to Lacey at Western this afternoon, and she was having to shift some stuff around on my Prerequisite Worksheet because of a Microbiology class that didn't fulfill an Upper Level Science pre-req (can't imagine why...?). I'm having to scramble to send two more class syllabi so she won't calculate my science GPA using two classes I made C's in. Of aaaaallll (heavy emphasis here...) the classes I've taken in 232 credit hours and 9 years of college, she picked out two of the handful of classes I made C's in. Do they WANT you to get rejected?!

Does anyone know whether when schools or scholarship donors refer to a certain percentile (just one) on the GRE, it is an average of all the sections, or does it refer to at least that percentile on each section?

Maybe it depends on when you submitted the supplemental? I submitted mine on October 1st. My VMCAS and transcripts were in by the beginning of September. You should have gotten log in information for the Buckeye link site where you can check to see if things are in as well. Mine says in review 👍.

Neither; I submitted all my materials at the beginning of September. I just called her to say thanks for putting up with all my frantic phone calls and emails, and she "just happened" to have my file right in front of her and told me what was going on with the classes.

I sent both syllabi to her, now I just have to wait to see if they'll accept them. Bleh. But I did the GPA calculations again; I should be ok either way. Whew.

So I ended up calling because I never got the email either. Getting to my status page was possibly a more grueling process than the actual Ohio application...

After being transferred to 3 different people and waiting on hold I finally spoke to the IT department and they set me up with a username. Then I went to my.osu.edu, clicked Activate Now, then clicked Request an Activation Code. Using my assigned username I was able to request an activation code, which was emailed to me a while later. Then I clicked the link in the email, activated my account and picked a password (not as easy as it sounds since you have to come up with 5 security questions!) The page said that due to high traffic it would take a while for the new password to work on other pages (ie. the application status page...) and sure enough it took about 20 minutes. After a while I went to buckeyelink.osu.edu and found the application status link and was able to log in. Phew!

Sooo... if you are thinking of calling you may want to call IT directly...

Maybe they are just backed up with going through all the applications and I was just one of the lucky ones at the top of the stack 🙂. Or maybe it's an IS vs. OOS thing? I am IS. Not sure, but glad you got your page sorted out 👍. The security questions thing was a pain.

Does anyone have an idea of how much these last semester (fall 2011) grades actually matter? I would assume that the spring 2012 grades really don't matter as long as you get through the prereqs because you will have admission decisions before those transcripts are done, but a lot of schools seem like they will have your transcript from fall 2012 before they even tell you if they want to interview you, but it also seems like all of our different gpas are already calculated and points will be allocated based on that...

Like you said, it can be school dependent but since these grades are seen before final decisions are made, you should plan on doing as well as possible. Also, if you don't get in this year, this semester will definitely seen next year!

I'd say fall grades matter a lot, especially if you have some prereqs that still need to be completed. They expect you to send them the transcripts with those grades when you get them and the schools haven't made a decision yet. Most schools aren't even close to a decision in December, so they'll look over how you did.

As for Spring, it likely won't matter if you get in this year, but if you don't get in this time, then it will definitely matter for next application cycle. Obviously, you need to get at least a C in all the prereqs. no matter what, beyond that is hard to say. I'd do your best no matter what though, the information you learn in the classes will help prepare you for Vet school.

There was a thread sometime back about which schools require fall transcripts..I seem to remember all of them but Kansas and Minnesota required them right away, and those two just needed them after the spring to make sure you finish prereqs. So it would seem for every other school they would play at least some part. Oh, and LSU says on their website they want your transcripts, however it won't affect their GPA calculations for you.

For everybody concerned about Ohio State emails and stuff, sit tight =) When I went into work yesterday there were still 5 or 6 VMCAS mailings to go through. We do everything by hand-all the materials are in a huge filing cabinet so when we get to your VMCAS we make you a file and put all your stuff in it and update you in the computer system. Once all your items are checked off in the computer system we send out the email. As you can imagine, all of this takes a ton of time, so please be patient with us =)

As for getting transferred and stuff, if you call the vet school you automatically get put in at the front desk of the Dean's office, where they usually direct everything to Student Affairs, and then we will direct you to the specific place you need to talk to based on your question. If you want to go directly to IT, you'll have to call them directly.

So yeah, if you haven't gotten an email yet, you will soon! If you are missing any application materials we will let you know and give you time to send them in, so please don't fret =)

I logged in and everything is checked off, including a final H.S. transcript I never sent 😕 My question is, they only list one of the colleges I attended in the final UG transcript section notes. Should I be worried?

I am thinking maybe they never received them because I abbreviated it as VMRCVM instead of writing it out- I had to because I couldnt fit the entire title when requesting transcripts. I did email them twice in the past month to confirm they received them and I got no replies.

i have the same problem as this...i sent my transcripts from 3 schools, they only have one...they have my HS transcript from when i applied for college...and they don't have my VA residency form checked off either!

I think right now we are all still hyped up from submitting the vmcas. I think in a month we will be thinking about other things.

I think the waiting is only gonna get harder as time goes by and some people start hearing about interviews and acceptances. I am hoping I get into Ohio and find out end of December or early January, which is only a couple months away, but seems like an eternity! The Wisconsin supplemental comes out soon and will keep me busy for a little while 🙂. Plus I have class, but I am really having a hard time getting into Microbiology. I feel like I took my classes backwards (took O. Chem 1 and 2 plus Biochem last year) and this class is super basic in most ways, but then it's hard to get myself to memorize the organisms. Test on Thursday, and we have a review tomorrow so I have to sort through the SIX pages of study questions and make sure I can find all the answers and understand everything. Currently on page 2 🙁. I have decided I do NOT like ebooks at all, should have gotten the paper copy and the connect option. Would have been $50 more, but I'd have the book. I go online to study and somehow always end up here 😳.

Haha, your not the only one. I have emailed her three times in the last 6 weeks and have not gotten a reply until last night. She emailed me and said she would look at my file today and get back to me but never did. I will just wait a week and see if the status updates before I email again.

I only paid for the schools that I designated on VMCAS and completed any supplemental applications for. The Iowa St. rejection was surely just an automated response for individuals that did not submit materials on time, but registered with the website. 👍

Anyway if you guys have tips I would really appreciate it! I find it so hard to put on paper my passion and drive for vet school clearly and concisely in 200 words.. :S

I was gonna wait until I was accepted into vet school, but got a little over anxious and ordered myself a stethoscope today 😀. A 3M Littman Cardiology 3 🙂. At work there are 2 hospital stethoscopes you can use while monitoring surgery and getting TPRs. One is a Littman, the other is I don't know what brand but they don't work. Well, I am low man on the totem pole at work since I haven't even been there a year yet, so I always end up with the junky stethescopes. Have had enough, so finally decided to just order my own 😀. I got red (my favorite color) plus engraved it with my name, so they won't get mixed up with anyone elses and I can see if anyone is messing with them (you have to watch your back at the clinic where I work). I am so excited, can't wait for them to arrive and try them out 🙂. I figure I'll need them in vet school anyways, so even if I don't get in this year, I will eventually and will need them, so why be annoyed by the stethescope situation at work.
