That's my only problem with In N Out. No selection. However, undercooked meat and stale fries = 😕 Which In N Out do you eat at? That's never happened in my experience.

Yea, our test was extremely weird. I still feel like I got shafted on that PS, but what's done is done, and retaking it would just be stupid.

Yeah, I was considering re-taking it for a split-second, until my friend brought me back to reality. :laugh: I hope everything will turn out well for all of us. :xf:

I would hope that they weren't actually undercooked and stale, but that's the best I could define the taste. And its universal for all In N Out's I've been to.

Anybody ever eat at a Smashburger? They are pretty good, I think.

I like Five Guys, but they are harder to find. Has to do with their franchising rules. You have to put up a boatload of money, and agree to open 5 restaurants in your territory. The territories are pretty big, so restaurants can be a little scarce.

I've never had Smashburger. Is it found only in a particular state?

Yeah, I watched a program about franchises on CNN/MSNBC/whatever. They discussed Five Guys and their rules for franchising and all that other good stuff. It was actually pretty interesting.

Smashburger looks pretty well spread out:

They aren't everywhere, but looks like they are in about half the US, mostly southwest to mid-west. Kind of a weird distribution, actually.

It was interesting! They also talked about Dairy Queen as well and how one family owns like 40 stores or something ridiculous like that.

Weird-distribution indeed.

A friend of mine finally got accepted today; he's going to Rosalind Franklin. This was a relief for me, not just for him, but because he was rocking a 3.8 and a 34. Made me feel like I had no shot whatsoever, because we were all pretty certain that he was going to have to reapply lol.

Exactly. I only would have retaken it if it were a sub-thirty score. I can't really complain.
 
What were his interview skills like? Does he have the tendency to pick his nose during important moments?

If not, his story is a testament to the crapshoot that is the admissions game.

Yea- he was one of those all brains no personal skills kind of people. I'm sure his PS and app as a whole hinted at that as well. His stats were well above average, yes, but he also-from what I know of him-had nothing that stood out on his app. Shadowing, volunteering, various clubs, etc. Traditional applicant teamed with roboticness. Either way, he's still going to med school now. His story scared the hell out of me for a long time since I know him in real life and know that he is not a troll.

Lastly, yes, "crapshoot" is the best word to use for this game.
 
Did you all read that article about reasons not to go to medical school lol? The sad thing is that the doctor I'm currently shadowing basically said the same thing about his medical school/professional experience. He hinted at the overworked, underpaid nature of his profession.
 
Wow, so I just watched the season 7 finale of House. It sucked. Pretty disappointing.

I'm still on Season 5 (or is it 6?). I will catch up on it during the summer in between secondaries.
 
Never watched House. Started watching Gray's Anatomy a few years ago because it was my ex-gf's favorite show, and it was definitely entertaining. Plan on starting House Season 1 after MCAT on 6/16. House seems very smug.

House is an amazing show. I'd def suggest checking it out, despite the most recent awful finale.

Took me forever to catch up on the series. I used to love it back in undergrad and kind of lost track of it as I started to work. Season 7 is still worth watching btw.

Ah, I hated Gray's Anatomy. House is definitely smug, but his character is very entertaining to follow. I think you'll end up really enjoying the show.

House definitely has more substance than Gray's. The first few seasons are awesome but it has been going downhill from then. But you will enjoy it! Good luck on the MCAT.
 
Thanks, I'm excited about it now! I've heard that House significantly trumps Gray's Anatomy in substance. It's amazing how many hospital/medical shows there have been in the past decade. ER, Gray's, House etc...and new hospital shows like Combat Hospital. It's interesting how many people think medical school and the daily operations of a hospital are as fast-paced as the shows insinuate. The funniest thing is when someone watches an episode of Gray's Anatomy and suddenly thinks they know a ton of information about a certain disease or organ.
 
A lot of people in my pathophysiology class would get excited when House mentioned some disease that we just learned about in class.

I start The Wire this week. I hope it's good!

The Wire is considered one of the very best.

I really don't watch that much TV besides Sportscenter. The only shows that I've watched multiple seasons of are Entourage, Breaking Bad, The Office, Eastbound and Down, and Taxi (from the 70's). I figure I'm going to spend this next year getting a lifetime's fix of television, because I know that television will be competing with sleep and food in MS-1 and beyond.

Modern family is soo damn funny, you all should watch it if you don't!

Yeah I know what you mean. I'll probably kill the netflix account when I'm back in school so I don't just veg out instead of working out in my downtime.. if I have any! :laugh:

Modern Family is great, and I was totally surprised by it as well (since I don't watch ABC other than Grey's and sports)

However, Community has to be the greatest comedy currently on television, so much greatness in that show.

House, Dexter, used to watch Prison Break, and that's about it. I'm also a sports center nut.
 
I started watching Extreme Couponing. It's horrifying.
 
Yeah, I haven't seen either one, but I heard the couponing was basically people who hoard food and got it all free.
 
I saw a part of one episode of extreme couponing and the lady got $1000 of groceries for $20. That's skill man. I need her to teach me her ways so I can save money in med school :laugh:
 
When I was a kid my couponing mom used to go to the grocery store and have a negative bill. They paid her a few bucks to take $100 worth of groceries home. No joke! :laugh:
