Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks everyone for the input. I did ask about aid. They said they have nothing left for this year but that I "might" be eligible next year. Plus, I wanted to apply MSTP while an internal applicant, but have no idea if they'd accept me, let alone the fact that they're not sure they can accept internal applicants next year.

I think the choice is indeed obvious, especially with the resounding "state" vote among everyone I've asked. I'll write the MSTP to get an idea if that's a probability; but it's looking more and more like state.

Thanks again everyone. I never expected this to pop up.

Got my hands on the new Vampire Weekend album.

So good.

Soooo I went full ****** this semester and ended up with two C's. Never have gotten a C in my life, got a 2.81 GPA for the semester. Never had below a 3.41 in a single semester in college until now.

What do you guys think the two schools where I'm holding acceptance at will think once I send in my final transcript? :/

I have never heard of schools withdrawing acceptances for a couple C's. Relax

Relax man, schools just care that you passed and got your degree.

Some schools do care about Cs. I've seen a few that require you finish all listed future coursework with a grade of C+ or above. But usually they just require Cs or C-s. I'd call if you're really scared, just to allay your fears.

I too will be applying to the MSTP program as an internal candidate. If I were you I would set up a meeting with the coordinators from both programs and sit down with them to discuss your chances. I had a nice chat with the coordinator at my school for well over an hour. She has emailed me several times since then asking if I have any more questions and if I have started my essay yet. I think if you impress the coordinator it will go a long way to helping you get into the program.

I am not sure what your MCAT and GPA are but the coordinator at my school said their bare minimum cut off is usually a 30 and 3.5 to even be considered. However, she has admitted some exceptional applicants who can make up for stats with a lot of publications and research experience. The only thing I would miss is the lab rotations during the summers, but seeing as I only want to work under my current PI, I don't think these will be necessary. I will also miss a few classes that the MSTP students have to take but the coordinator said it wouldn't be a big deal.

Ummm, I'm trying to think of anything else that I can tell you........

Unfortunately, I'm plum across the country and can't meet. I'd love to have a phone call, though. My GPA is fine and my research experience EXCEPTIONAL. It's just my damn MCAT. That and the fact they stated they likely won't be able to take applications from internal applicants next year. I'll try to call them later today and set up a serious meeting. If they say I have a good chance of acceptance, that'd essentially make my finances equal at both schools since my state school doesn't have an MSTP (just an MD/PhD sans tuition waiver and stipend during the med school years--not worth it).

Cool man! Let me know how it goes.

Am I the only person who gets annoyed when people talk into their cell phones SUPER loud in public? This is agony.

yes...but I really hate when the person in front of you in the checkout line is on their phone and makes the process 2x longer.

Lol. I'm now hearing the 4th conversation about the power steering fluid leak in this guy's 99 Honda odyssey.

Nice!

The MCAT score VR is so shocking to see how you were getting no less than 11 on practice tests and then a 9 on the real thing. Lame.

Whoa. Now that you mention it, that does suck. 👎

Ah well, that was a year ago and seems like so much longer than that. Reading was also my lowest SAT subsection score

Without knowing anything about her before yesterday, I caught up on the Arias trial last night in a couple hours.

Wow...was anyone ever more guilty?

Looking for apts somewhere you don't already live is a really frustrating activity.

lol... I'm srs. We both walked around a blind corner too fast and I'm a lot taller than he is, so it could've been bad.
That would have put a damper on starting school
The school I work at rejected me pre-interview... they don't admit many students who went to undergrad and/or work here unfortunately 👎

Yeah, 30 stab wounds, slitting the throat, AND shooting him in the head seems a bit more than self defense IMO. Interesting that expert witness described her as borderline personality disorder, I wonder if another "self" did it...

And she doesn't help her case to basically ask for the death penalty just after getting the guilty verdict.

I mean....gotta make sure they're dead 😎
